Your team was now at a crossroads. The minions were going to head up to the ladder and into the room with the apparently empty chest.
By the way, the DIO (Default Initiative Order) for your minions is:
Werewolf Wereshark Werebear Werebeetle Daemonix
And your team is:
Human Geomancer (with Gold Dragon Monster) Kittani Monk Chabahko White Mage Orc Warrior (also a heavy weapons fighter)

Now you have recruited a Fish Tribe member. You must find 3 members of other tribes who you trust to accompany you, as well as the Shield to accompany your Paladin Armor, your Zog's Blade and your Jade Helmet. You also must acquire a "Dragon of Madness" and a "Dragon of Good".
Currently, you are dredging the ocean bottom with the fish. You can search for places to go, look for a guide of some sort, ask the fish's advice (hey, maybe learn your teams', I dunno, NAMES)...

(Awards comin' your way for good play!)
The Kittani Monk says, "My name is Bahk. The past is irrelevant. It is an illusion that preoccupies us." His ape-like face says infinitely more than his words. After all, most monks in fact view the past as vital to understand a complex reality. It seems that his life has been full of a lot of sorrow, which would explain his lifepath.
The Human Geomancer says, "I was born on the Jorochim Islands. My parents called me Kalaii Hanmanau, which means 'Beast Blessed'. I always liked animals, and I thought that what we called monsters were just part of our broader magical ecosystem, not something to kill. But all too often monsters and humans fought. So I decided, probably when I was thirteen, that I would show the world that with love and care we could live in harmony with the land and the animals. To prove that, I decided to join the Rangers. I haven't regretted it. My stable's growing and my monsters and I are creating propaganda of the deed. "
The Ork Warrior steps in, a bit abruptly, as if this is something for him to rush through and be done with. "My name is Grunkt, Slayer of Horkal, Liberator of Hnum-II, Grand Slasha Boy. I was raised as a proud Ork Warrior. I joined the Rangers to prove that orcs had honor and deserved, demanded respect from the other races! I was finally given a chance to prove myself against Horkal and I did. I was given another chance at Hnum-II and I took it. Now I'm stuck killing monsters in some backwater cave." He's leaving something out. His style is incredibly defensive and has a beauty to it, a hidden song that plays all the louder for its muffling. There is an artist underneath that exterior.
The Chahabahko Healer smiles. "I'm so glad that we're finally able to talk like this! Well, when I podded, my Nectar Mothers wanted me to become a cook. 'The Chahabahko survive by cooking for those outside!', they'd say to me. 'Food is life! It's spirit!' I went into it, and liked it some of the time I guess, but then I saw what they did to those poor animals to make them into food! I guess I thought that I could compensate if I healed enough people, that somehow that would make up for the beasts I killed."
The fish guy rolls his eyes. "My name is Ganba Marlin the IV. My family have been merchants for generations." He draws up for a moment in pride. "My father was even Guildmaster!" Indeed, he is a large, purplish fish, different from Gobi. "I always wanted to fight as a kid. I loved the stories of Gobi, of Ryu, of the rest of them. But my dad kept me on the straight and narrow! 'Leave the fighting to others', he said. 'Some people need to be out there selling the products and getting money into peoples' offers. See how far all of them would have gotten without the salesmen that gave them everything they needed!' I tried to be a hero for awhile. As you can see, I'm pretty good. But then I ran out of money. So I said, 'Fuck that'. And now I'm where I am."

Explain about my past as a dragon thief, and my discovery of the dragons devil and eventual subjugation of its power. Next morning, its back to yonder volcano underwater

The questions come: You were a Dragon Thief? When did you become a Lich? How did you find the power of Akuron? And so on.
In the morning, you return to the volcano. It seems even hotter today, but the damage you guys did yesterday cleared out some of the hallways. The vents blast their sulfur and the water boils, making underwater bubbles large enough for a normal human to breathe in. The team bought specially designed barrier generators. The Monster Trainer is currently breaking in his new Endless Crawler. You're at a fork: go straight left or straight right.

Most of the monsters give the crew a wide berth. Kelp floats, propelled by the bubbles. Then from all around the team, below them and beside them, suddenly surges a rush of magma!

ok, try having the werebeetle throw a web of durability around the rangers and toss them out of the way, then try to use ggravity shifters to avoid personal harm. the shark can do a shockwave to try and help, the wolf can do kiss of helios and not care, and havethe daemonix go wild with the tail doing expelling blasts to try to help our situation.

|
|

The werebeetle fails to act in time, and the magma presses in upon their barriers, nearly destroying them. Finally the werebeetle gets them out of the way. The magma then forms into tendrils and rockets at them. The beetle flips to the rooftop and avoids the tendrils.
The wolf's fire resistance skyrockets, and he takes no damage. The shockwave does almost nothing. The Daemonix blasts are only marginally better. Werebear? He is in a cave. And Brunny? The wolf also has more turn after the Kiss, which also lets her absorb flame to turn into Rage.

Umm, what was that? Shooting Primorder blobs? The bear is hiding in a cooling shelter, but it's melting uber-fast. The spirit, on the other hand, shows up and roars, but isn't able to attack yet.

Post by halfhero on Dec 15, 2005 19:28:39 GMT -5
no no, the thing involving disintegration form, if we decided that dont work do the blobs then.
|
|
|
Post by Frederic Bourgault-Christie on Dec 15, 2005 20:08:42 GMT -5
Yeah, now that sentence makes more sense.
"could brunnenges quickly switch to his disintegrating form, then take alll the fire damage he can, and attack in the form of a repulsive field so it would just hurt me till i was strong enough to ssend it away?"
What is your Disintegration Form? Is it a flame form that specializes in insta-death? Anyways, probably.
|
|
|
Post by halfhero on Dec 15, 2005 20:36:51 GMT -5
oh no, my disintegrating form is where small bits of me break off as i am attacked, but i get stronger the more damage i take. seemed like a fitting strategy

|
|
Post by Frederic Bourgault-Christie on Dec 15, 2005 20:49:24 GMT -5
Ah, I see. You can certainly do that. But that sounds like a sweet dragon morph, doesn't it? Fire class focused on instant immolation and disintegration? Your lightning form could be long-term guaranteed damage, perhaps. You could also do the strategy where you have a few bits or fragments that if attacked elicit a Delta Attack or a strategy where if both bits are killed it does a huge counter-attack
The magma slowly wears Brunnengus down, but enhancing his power. Each piece that comes off detonates. He has more turn - he could do one of the above options. The repulsive field helps quite a bit.

|
Post by halfhero on Dec 16, 2005 4:27:28 GMT -5
yeah make the two bits that will llauncch a big counter, then use them to shield me
|
|
|
Post by Frederic Bourgault-Christie on Dec 16, 2005 4:32:01 GMT -5
The bit that elicits a counter-attack can't be used as a shield that automatically must be burst through; at least, only one can be used in such a way. Typically, there's an offensive and a healing one. Anyways, Brunny has his strategy set up.
The wolf can go again, then its your allies.

The team benefits from the wolf's cry that summons a black leather onto their spirit bodies.
The Crawler begins to make a gargling-like motion, sucking in as much cold water as possible and then spewing it out as a rain of bubbles, trying to trap the elemental in them. It fails at that, but the elemental's incomplete dodge attempt forces it to diffuse enough that its attack is reduced. Kalaii has no turn left.
Halea casts Sacrifice Stopgap, which does a certain amount of ice damage to her allies in order to give them a rather larger numerical amount of fire resistance, then launches a quick heal on the team.
Grunkt steps into a Bodyguard Stance.
Bahk cools his body to ice-like levels and launches some strikes. The magma burns through his Stopgap and his cooling and he is forced to retreat injured. But he did do some damage.
Ganba calls out and summons three types of kelp: one to bind the creature, one to heal the party, and one to directly damage.
The lava creature spends its turn burning through the kelp and assaulting Brunnengus and his bits.
Brunny and familiars' turn.

Yeah, you had indeed finished the cave completely, getting 5 CPs in the process (and your teammates getting 5 CPs AND 5 RBs, very nice for them.) Not to mention their new powers from Salamando, which includes an increase in your affinity with the Red Blaze and dark fire spirits you have. Now you heard that a Shaman was using the Shield of Tyr as a centerpiece to lead an invasion against the surface world, taking control through demagoguery of a great group of troglodytes living in the trench that Gobi passed through.

Uther generates cutting beams of sun that pierce the inky umber. In the distance, the travellers see a colossal kraken generating a low hum from propelling the water. The kraken turns its great eyes, many in number, to the group, and stares. A tense moment passes, and the kraken continues on.
The depths become quite a barrier: Even Brunnengus' familiars and Ganba are feeling the weight pressing down upon them. For the moment, the Rangers are defended by the barrier generators they purchased, but if those were to be ruptured death would be instant.
Below, Brunnengus and the Daemonix's long-range sensors pick up a small town. Misshapen (to human eyes) residents eke out a living. There is no hint of an army.

The team had discovered the secret of the Troglodyte's town, disguised themselves as demi-sea horse mercenaries, started a rebellion with cigar smoke, and found Tyr's Shield and the Hell Shaman. Now it was time to brave the depths of Infinity! Furax, Mosho, Nobi and the Troglodyte accompany Brunnengus on this, his last leg of the journey.

On... oblivion? Infinity, I hope you mean.
The team returns to the gates in the center of the Gate/Township Unified District, in the midst of a beautiful park. The white dragon's eyes again flutter, and she raises her head up. "Ah, you have exceeded your burden, bringing not only seven warriors of great skill but also three new companions. And you have further found not only the Shield, Sword, Helm and Armor that you required, but also a Ring and Bracer as well. So one last time, Son of the Tribe of Zog, I ask you: Are you prepared to brave Infinity?"
Oh, and I should mention: Boaw has an item called the Hawkeye that modifies all his Classes (ergo, all his abilities) to be more sniper/bow-oriented.
