All right. You purchase enough Revive-Alls (and I imagine Cure and such) to provide all your teammates with some. They also use some of their cash (from monsters and such) to buy Elements of their own, including real doozies.
(By the way: Spira can make a nice side business out of selling Elements he creates post SCGA.)

Ikiru can train monsters then sell them, Brunnengus I don't know, and Daedrous what?
Anyways: The team, now Element-filled, returns to the white dragon. Her claws raise up, and the three doors open. Down the stairs there is a precipitous descent of endless concentric circles, leading further into the bowels of Infinity...

Outfitting that horde, repairing damaged items, purchasing new items/spell components/alchemical necessities, bribing informants, and many, many other things require a lot of money.

so we go down the huge staircase

The team circles and circles. Suddenly, the Daemonix says, "Stop. There is a secret entrance being obscured here." It's hard to tell how: the floors and walls are of the same purplish tint and the stairs the same metallic gray, and nothing is embedded or raised over any surface.

is there a hole in the middle we can just dive down?

Post by Frederic Bourgault-Christie on Dec 25, 2005 23:41:45 GMT -5
There is a staircase in the middle, but it's not the secret entrance. And if there's a secret entrance, it's typically because the regular entrance is trapped, has less treasure or has hidden enemies ready to attack.

Nothing's on the walls. A few members of the team thought they felt something. Scan the area?

The Daemonix again detects that one tile on the floor is made of a different material from the rest. It points out that tentacle with one of its arms. "I imagine that that is the secret entrance."
Brunnengus now definitely feels something below him. And he's fairly confident that that's not the tile the Daemonix was pointing at...

Brunnengus is suddenly enveloped completely by a great cube of a thick gelatinous structure that begins battering him repeatedly. Chewer-of-Bones and his werebear barely avoid the same fate.
Brunnengus hears a voice, distorted through the thick mass around him. Beau calls out, "They're Artifact Eaters! They want to eat our items! If we can find a way to simulate a much better item somewhere else, they'll go there. Otherwise, we'll have to find a way of getting you out without harming you." Beau himself seems not to have that ability, as his furry hands draw arrows from a quiver and draw back a bowstring, firing away at 99% lightspeed with Gel Smasher arrows.
X-Rog's hideous body makes the shifting cubes beautiful by comparison. He takes out his great curving blade and cuts through the matter over and over, successfully doing so... but eliciting a counter-attack that captures most of his body except for his head.
Ganba, on the other hand, is a master of making items LOOK like artifacts. "Here, cubey, cubey, cubey... here, cubey..." He pulls out an absolutely beautiful looking pearl, then cocks his arm back and prepares to toss... but is intercepted and surrounded. And the cube knows a pile of real artifacts when it sees it. Brunnengus hears, doubly distorted, "Dammit, that's my best merchandise!" The pearl remains in his hand, in the senses of all those with above Supernatural Keenness.
Brunnengus has some turn. The attacks are impeding his spell-casting ability and physical attacks, but nothing else.
All your familiars, your ghosts and the Rangers can go.

The werebear rockets at the cube holding Brunnengus and swings. The cube leaps up, taking Brunnengus with it, as a crater the size of a Volkswagen replaces where they were. The werewolf then leaps up and hits the cube directly, criticalling, but still failing to stun it. The Daemonix's Alter Gremlin rockets at the cube holding Ganba, its arm growing flanges and runes until the cube's attention is gained, then detonating a hidden explosive in its fist and blowing off the top of Ganba's cube. Ganba uses his trident to spring out, throwing the pearl then some gold forward some on the path, then immediately cursing himself while taking a deep breath (he wanted to throw it BEHIND your path). Meanwhile, the Daemonix's Altering fist forms into a perfectly shaped hammer designed to punch the cube away from X-Rog. It narrowly misses, but the cube opens itself up to X-Rog's rage, opening a whole for X-Rog to escape. The wereshark presses the attack, punching at the cube, which promptly flops onto the ceiling. The beetle follows, this time striking with its horn.
The one around Brunnengus flies for the Pearl. The one that trapped Ganba, after reabsorbing its top, joins Brunnengus' erstwhile captor. Satisfied chomping is heard, but then a disappointed sound somewhat like an "Ugh..."
However, at that point, a net is coming down on both of them. After some struggle, the damaged cubes pumping out through the net as it draws tighter and its energy field punished them for it, the Monster Hunter gains his newest conquest. (2 slots of 6 taken, though now monsters can be stored in the Ebon Dream as well).
Grunkt and Bahk combine Far Fist and Air Render to strike at the cube holding X-Rog, successfully punching a hole into it. The healer says, "How could you?! They're just hungry!" She chants, and the third cube suddenly lets out a soothing "Aaaahhh..." sound.
For the moment, conflict has been avoided. The cube says, in surprisingly good Common, "What are you surface dwellers doing here? And why do you hold onto your possessions with such fervor? We are hungry: Do not our needs count?" Kalaii and Zee nod yes, Grunkt and Bahk nod no.
(Brunnengus figures out that perhaps having a new guardian monster for the Ebon Dream, feeding off of the energy and perhaps some of the items, could be an amicable arrangement, especially to help those exploring his mind.)

inform him of the ebon dream and tell him that it needs a guardian, and if he had free reign to feed off its energies, i am sure he could get to know it real well in no time.

The cube sits for a moment, wobbling from side to side, perhaps a sign of indecision... or a pouncing attack. After a few moments, the creature's body shakes vertically. "I have made my decision. I accept your offer. An emerging world will afford me many delights. And if you ever pick up a morsel you do not wish, I am available." The creature disappears in a shimmering black light.
Step on the tile that activates the secret entrance?

A door opens in the wall, leading down to some stairs. The stairs make an 180 degree semi-circle. In the room below, a thick mist manifests. It has almost the consistency of pea soup. Occasional wisp-like emanations appear through the fog. Suddenly, the group comes up upon a purplish creature, looking to their right, as if awaiting something.

Brunnengus successfully defuses the lightning, even producing a few new organisms in the process. The creature then raises an immense electromagnetic field as a shield. The werewolf sneaks aside. It is on a raised dais below which is another circling path, of which the werewolf can see very little. The fog amasses roughly in the center of this room. X-Rog says, "They were going to shoot you all the way down."
