Pretty much the "no duh" solution: Enter through the entrance. Seems pretty likely that the main mausoleum would be the entrance to the catacombs.

The man working at the mausoleum is a peaceful type, working on his art. He hums and looks at his work with pride. The building as a whole is a peaceful white and powder blue structure, a domed building with spiral-like columns.

In the main mausoleum, there aren't any, but the lack is actually rather suspicious. The man looks up and says, "What's your business? Arranging a funeral, what?"
