Would it be possible for Laura to switch her ghost to another cybernetic body so she can infiltrate? Or maybe have Brent flux some how?

Yes, she can do that, and Brent like Mace can just try to shapeshift.

I'll do that then. Laura will switch to her back-up shell (Armed the same way, but built for close-range combat instead of gunplay and sniping) and go to any known recruitment areas. Brent will flux to a necromancer and accompany her. Mace will shapeshift to a sort of 'generic' Imperium soldier.

What identities will you take on? I'll need as much as you can give me to determine plausibility and whether or not you'll even be able to get into Imperium space.

What would you like to do on your own or with Mace for now?

Well, Mace will actually take on the role as a necromancer, since he's the most magic oriented. He could possibly pull off a good undead monster look-a-like.
WHo's the best hacker in the CH? We'll ask them to hack into the Imperium database and fill in registry, as if we've been in there for years. We'll stay in more general locations of the Imperium. Mace will escort Laura, someone he'll be recommending as a new recruit to join the Imperium. Brent will just kill a local Imperium soldier when he's alone, shapeshift to take his persona, and then slowly move though the nearest recruitment, assassinating high-end targets. We'll fake a battle between Mace and Laura, acting as if they brought down Brent. They'll retrieve the corpse of the man Brent killed (preserved with spells to make it look fresh), and Mace and Laura will take it to the enemy, showing them fake signs of insanity or some form of bad food that caused the man to go berserk.
Mace is a low-ranking necromancer who seems to be shooting for administration. Laura is just a lowly soldier who proved to be of use, and even more of a use having killed Brent. Then when they get further inside, Brent will try again, this time taking on the persona of a servant of great value to a high-ranking necromancer, supposedly causing the servant to go mad and kill people, or doing it on purpose. This will carry on, Mace personally taking on the mission to see to these odd causes of attack, and try to carry on the belief that it may also be the CH attacking very subtly.
Sound good? Eventually the high necromancer would be brought in for treason by Mace and he'll take Laura on as his apprentice, pretending to also take her as a lover, I guess, to make it look less conspicuous, depending on Imperium protocol. This will allow Mace to move up ever higher on the Imperium's roster, bringing him closer to assassinating Imperial officers. Brent will just go around killing people and playing the part of traitor.

nice planning mace, hmm...you said i have keryis so perhaps if he diddn't join CH just yet and went independent, his motivations are his own

So use a magic type you don't have a lot of skill in and pretend that all that power you do have is a fluke?
The best hacker is Fatal Error. Milky, Kumo, Handyman, and many others are also good. The main problem: There is no core Imperium computer system, at least not one remotely technological. The nice thing about being a magical tyranny: No technological weaknesses. Further, even if there were one, you can't find any access points to get in. Does that kill the rest of your plan in the water?
Keryis has joined CH now so that's moot, not to mention it didn't matter in the first place.

Yeah, kind of. I sort of thought of the Imperium as having some technology for such. So, oh well. We talked about operations with the UEG. Could we contact them and talk with them about a possible strike on an Imperium fortress?

You could, but so far everyone here has wanted to do infiltration. If you attack, you raise the difficulty of an infiltration-based strategy. Further, as buff as y'all are, so far the only ships and armour you can contribute are the Ranger's Wings, the attack satellite, the Dreadnaught, Swaggard's Worldships, Tzemke Stardooms, Kriltil Pug's ship, Pierre and Jack's groups, Chavez's Line drawing summons, Duuz's dragon ride, and some others. A lot of power, not a lot of numbers.

Hmm, maybe just take a strike team in for a surgical strike in an area of the Imperium that the infiltration team won't be in? Actually, are there any UEG units under attack that we could help? Possibly turn the tide of the battle. General battles are meant to be expected, infiltration is more subtle and expected as well, but as long as we make it look like the CH is just helping in the general field of things, and not doing individual attacks, I think we could help.
Who else is at war with the Imperium?

If you make a major attack anywhere, it engages their defenses. It doesn't matter who they think did it. At the moment there's no fighting, everything's at a standstill. There is a blockade that's being attempted.
A decent amount of people: Dark Inferno's necromancer rival, the Godhand insurrection, the Renn-Mitte Confederacy, some other various governments...

Are the other groups launching any sort of attack? My team will just join them if they're going to attack anyway.

from fred's description there aren't many that DON'T want to destroy the imperium, i could be wrong but all we have to do is find one with the balls to attack, i've had to infiltrate imperium space before, not fun...or easy, oh we should bring along some NPC's preyjta, for one, would be a good choice

Well, there's a bunch of people too preoccupied with their own stuff, and there's a bunch of as-yet undefeated evil empires. But right now no one is launching attacks, except the Imperium is fighting DI's rival.

So DI's private rivalry outweighs taking down a massive empire?

Post by Vincent Hack on Feb 27, 2007 0:07:30 GMT -5
yes, i figure just sit back, let 'em fight until one or the other dies, and then strike while they're weakened

The more likely event is that the Imperium will crush DI's rival or vice versa, the one will get stronger, and DI's rival will run and then be even harder to find. Or that they'll declare a stalemate.

Ah, crap. We actually have to team up with the foreseen loser of this match. We'll have to defend the rival for awhile, but keep him under close guard, then once we've used him we break him. Cranial detonator, anyone?

no it wouldn't, your talking about siding with someone who you don't even have to worry about wether or not he's going to betray you, only when, so no we're not going to work with him, and fred it's not rivalry, it's a pure hatred the depth of which only deities of rage and hack can contomplate

Your post kind of confuses me. "your talking about siding with someone who you don't even have to worry about wether or not he's going to betray you,..." ? I know there's the chance that he will betray us, but there is also a better chance of him not doing that until we push the Imperium back because if he does backstab us, he could, quite possibly, be obliterated. So it would hold better to his advantage to work with us, and of course we should keep our guard up, but I think it's safe to say that we'd have a better chance of kicking his ass if we don't have the Imperium creeping up on us at the same time.
By the way, you can have a rival and feel utter hatred for them. : P

...So one person's hatred outweighs everyone else's good.
A vital variable: Who's more likely to side with Itek? If you beat one, will the erstwhile ally be too strong to take down then? And if you fight both, will you be vulnerable?

That's a very good question. If we keep a tight leash on DI's rival, we could attempt to assassinate him right after. But there's also the possibility that the necromancer will know of this ploy and try to kill us once we help him defeat the Imperium forces. This could turn for the worst at anytime.
They're also both forces of necromancy, so we may want to stock up on anti-undead...ah, never mind. Hack's the anti-undead specialist, as far as I've seen with him on the forum. I think we best side with the underdog.

No, he ain't. Taklinn and Keryis are better, and yet better than him is Rashel Jacob, Helvena, Jangadan, Barak Vorkans (the Truth Magi), Mr. Fo (through hijacking undead because of his negative ki powers), Anderson II, Albert Vahauser and Robert Ashiyoki (especially v. ghosts), Rayzen (through pseudo-Blood Magi, Welka (positive ki), Felhame, G'hino'ba, Chavez Xolotihuaca, etc. (that's just from NPCs, Brunny and Ash Williams are also awesome PCs for this). I should also note that Viktor's Apocalyptic powers could be great if you want a straight-on suicide run, maybe a space-Thermopylae .
