OOG: I should note Marios intuitive combat covers Jedi sensing of close allies in danger. I would hope that would apply to David in my case at least.

OOG: How close? You're a good thirty miles away, but Jedi powers do tend to have a pretty close to unlimited range, so you might indeed sense him being in danger.

OOG: It says it depends on the emotional bond but it's not unusual for jedi to be able to sense people across the planet if its a padawan or a really close friend. Can be different planets for family members remember empire when luke sensed them in danger on Bespin. I would say yes but it's up to you.

OOG: I will make a roll. In this case, since Black's danger was expected on your part, was voluntarily chosen by him with full knowledge of the risks and was not a trap per se (like Bespin), and, while dangerous, is not overwhelming force, the DC seems likely to be fairly high.
Mario gets a tinge as he speaks that Black is likely in some danger.

Black swiftly takes his broadsword in hand and swirls it in wide motions all around himself in an attempt to parry the incoming sharp limbs of his current attacker. No other particularly good defensive ideas coming to him in the instant he has to react.
How gruesome!

The creature clearly hoped for more of a surprise than it got. As Black slashes, he not only avoids being harmed (his prodigious training under Shishio paying off in spades, Black feeling momentarily capable of fending off even the Battosai) but manages to hack and slash into the vines, cutting some cleanly and hacking notches into others. A thick sap pours down, smelling acrid. Black realizes quickly that it is toxic, but his fortitude is sufficient (for now) to resist the poison. He probably will need an antidote afterwards, but is fine for the battle.
Black's action. He still only sees lashing vines and isn't sure if there is a central cluster.

In hopes of grasping his momentary lead and carrying it even farther Black takes Ashura in hand. With a practiced inner motion he coaxes the spirit of the blade to release a bursting wave of flame to harm and drive back the vines even more!
To burn away this beast that plagues me may serve the purpose of my own protection two fold if it rids me of this smell!

Being a rainforest creature, Black finds that the normal plant weakness to fire is mitigated (though not entirely eliminated) by the sheer abundance of water in the plant. Nonetheless, he burns several of the vines. However, when the vines are struck, he sees that they quickly bubble instead of burning per se then pop. This spreads the boiling toxic sap everywhere. Black is glad to see that the poison seems to denature when being burnt (after all, how many things that a vine creature is likely to fight will use fire on it?) but nonetheless has to deal with some degree of boiling and scalding poison. His armor and his fortitude again protect him, but he does take 180 damage (120 damage initially before modification from Weakness: Poison).

OOG: ah, alright. Wasn't sure if it was my turn or the things.
IG: "Alright. Let's try a little more" Black comments taking three of his katana in hand. He draws Ashura, Oborotsuki and Kotetsu slowly and with purpose. Soul speaking to the kami that lie within these mystic blades he attempts to execute a multi-draw out.
His physical attacks, should he be successful, will be three simple piercings. Blades thrust into the three most prominent of the vines.

The creature apparently held its action, biding its time for Black to make an error. It manages as Black swings to get a single stinger through Black's defenses, getting a good blow in and poisoning Black for an additional 280 damage initially and 60 damage per turn. It then withdraws its tentacles and sinks to the earth, creating a murky sphere of water around it. The waves of energy that Black emits do not seem to have an elemental strength or weakness against Black's attacks, which (upon a successful Wits check) seems to indicate that the field is a Water and Leaf/Grass combination. This means Moon attacks would be effective as would Sound for ignoring the barrier; an explosion could work to ignore it. Nonetheless, the barrier seems largely down.
Black strikes three times, but he finds that the slashes are held back by the water even given his strength and speed. This slowdown allows the creature to counter-attack with many lashes of its own, which Black again deftly blocks automatically and manages to cut off more vines.
Now Black can see the creature's main body: A thick green and brown root center which has many venus fly trap-like protrusions off it. It seems that the root center is designed to stay either above the trees, absorbing light directly, or below the ground, absorbing dirt. It probably has several life cycles.
At this point, Mario, Fred and Brian reappear. They are added to the initiative order of this round later, so they will go after Black and the creature. However, Fred managed to deftly place the teleport and Mario managed to hide their signature enough that they get a surprise round. [Fred, Mario and Brian go, then the creature, then Black, then Fred, then Brian, then Mario - Mario, you rolled a 15 base even with two rolls, I am so sorry].
Fred casts Cosmic Ray, hoping that the radioactive damage will be super effective against the organic creature and ignore its shield. It does, and despite the ray being weaker and less well-placed than hoped, a whole cluster of vines is lopped off. Unfortunately, the thing does not seem to experience debilitation from injury, but it does seem to have some kind of pain or fear response which has been very slightly triggered, giving it debuffs. His Earth Thunder uses Lifeblast, hoping that the life effect can help mitigate the poison in Black's body and heal him. It does, not purging the poison but giving Black a second chance to save to half the per-round damage and penalties, which Black succeeds. It also heals 100 HP and gives a +6 to parry, strike, dodge, initiative and subsequent saves.
Note, Black, that the poison ticked once BEFORE Lifeblast and once AFTER Lifeblast, so it has done 90 damage for a grand total of [280 + 90 + 180 - 100] 450.
EDIT: It has come to my attention that Weakness to Poison does not make it so one takes more damage from poison attacks but instead automatically fails saves against poison. For convenience sake, however, we will proceed as if the ticks of damage from the previous poisons Black would have failed added up to the damage noted already.
In addition, Black actually struck six times after the initial multi-draw thanks to Genji Glove, not three. This doesn't change much, as the muck shield slowed down the attacks a large amount, but it does mean that Black struck for additional damage on his parries.

Mario will immediately charge into the thick of combat lightsaber drawn. "It appears you picked the belly of the beast to investigate eh?" If Mario is able to take turn he will lift his lightsaber into the air and summon the power of "JUDGEMENT BLADE!" As he summons ice slashes from the sky on the enemy.

The ice seems to be more effective against this tropical being, not used to extreme cold; however, the shield mitigates the damage to the core, as the combination of Water and Leaf lead it to be close to a wash in terms of damage (1/2 from Water, x1.5 from Leaf/Grass). Mario does do damage, but the resistance of the creature is substantial enough that he feels he only whittled at its health.
OOG: Is Mario activating any auras, or does that take action?

Post by Frederic Bourgault-Christie on Nov 18, 2011 1:24:36 GMT -5
OOG: Good. And no, he did not resist, as Mario's roll for the effect was rather higher than his roll for the damage.
Despite the ice blade not having been as effective as it could have been, the creature does seem momentarily stunned in its tracks. Black, Fred and Brian will be able to go one more time but the initiative will reset and the effect go before it gets back to Mario. This means that Black may go once, Fred can go once, and Brian has two actions.
Now that its resistance is reduced by the Stop, Fred decides that it would be easiest if Black were to rend it asunder in one blow. He casts Stonebiter on Black's strongest weapon, hoping that the one strike of Stonebiter damage will be effective enough to cut the creature apart. Meanwhile, his Automaton fires Annihilate, using the small ball of antimatter to tear a hole into it. The ball of antimatter hits square, blowing off the shield and spreading chunks of the creature everywhere.

OOG: What does Zeus' Thunder do? Does it just produce a regular lightning bolt attack? Also, remember you have two turns.
Edit: I have found out what it does.
The divine lightning, impressive as it is, does seem to be mitigated partially by the shield (x2 from Water, 1/2 from Grass/Leaf). Nonetheless, it propagates through the barrier, and though the creature's resistance is profound, it causes even more explosion of the poison as the creature pops even further in a horrific sight. The poison spreads but does not affect Fred through the armor, Black is poisoned to make it 90 damage a turn, Mario and Brian save easily.

The guard raises an eyebrow. "Well, this city is not some kind of hedonistic anarchy, but I'm a guard, I've seen plenty of suspicious activity. Picking of pockets and of locks, confidence games to distract shopkeeps so as to purloin their possessions, on occasion a Changeling doing something untoward... Why?"

Murmuring internally that he means no disrespect Black resheathes his katana and reaches for his now more enchanted broadsword. As much as it pains him to think it at his skill level he will not be able to put enough heft behind this next technique to continue his progress on the monster.
Rushing forward Black attempts a great diagonal swing in hopes of cutting right through the creatures center mass using his newly learned technique slash.

The black field of Slash appears around the creature. Black feels his health grow as his HP is siphoned, bringing his health back to maximum. His subsequent blows, enhanced by Stonebiter, each do triple damage half of which is direct to the creature's waning critical hit points. Black carves it into several clean pieces. It is utterly and completely destroyed.
Amidst the creature's remnants are several partially digested bodies. There is a smell of fresh dirt: As a plant, the creature was turning them into basically fertilizer. This means that many of the inorganic components they had are actually extremely well-preserved; it seems that the creature would likely have just slowly ejected them. One appeared to be a gentleman adventurer out on a stroll: His hat seems to be still functioning, a magnetic inversion hat; he had 1000 gold and a cane sword which seems to be mildly enchanted
Another seemed to be a Mystic Knight. Though his ceramic armor has been turned into fertilizer, some pieces are left. More importantly, Fred instantly recognizes his weapon: A Caliber-X! It was broken in a failed battle against the creature (presumably after being exhausted by other fights), but its parts are easily reverse-engineerable into Mario's weapon. The sidearm of the Mystic Knight is a mystic weapon called Rajazan's Fervor, which Fred requests.
A third seemed to be a vampire at one point, decked out in long-since digested kevlar armor, with many pieces of jewelry and fetishes that at one pointed likely granted advantages. All that's left now is a katana that seems to gleam with ice, which Brian identifies as Northwind, a katana from Cyrodiil.
In addition, the creature's blood, as a powerful venom, can later be refined into an antidote, purgative or other alchemical concoction. Perhaps the alchemist can help? Certainly for Brian, there is a veritable treasure trove here, especially when taking into account various herbs and components that the dead passersby held.
Black feels the poison pass through his system: It apparently was short-lived, as his exposure had been relatively minuscule.

"Whew! That was a little annoying" Black comments to his now present comrades. The comment followed immediately by a look of disgust as the defeated creature unfolds revealing the corpses of its victims.
"Hope none of these guys are the people we were trying to find" he adds while searching for some kind of cloth he might have on him with which to wipe off and pick up a grime-covered katana he spots afterwards.

Fred leans over, carefully examining the bodies. Normally, Fred would probably vomit several lunches, but it appears that his Zentraedi heritage has given him quite the stomach for... stomach. "They don't match the descriptions and they don't look like scientists... well, except maybe the gentleman guy, I don't know. But maybe it's some of the people they hired, like hired muscle or something. I just can't believe a Mystic Knight with two awesome weapons did worse than us. Maybe we're moving up in the world a bit".
"So, loot-wise... I guess you're taking the katana. Makes sense. We should hold onto the magnetic inversion hat for someone".
OOG: Big Jesse was confirmed as eligible for the hat if he so chose. It is a good top hat for anyone who likes top hats and also wishes to be less vulnerable to arrows and bullets.
"So, I guess... we continue our search?"

Brian collects what he can from the plant material, enough to make poisons and antidotes at a later time. It is now a new scene, but note that it is NOT likely to change scene until we are done "searching the jungle". Be careful what you do then. Brian may make a check to see if he can do jury-rig alchemical work here.
Fred sighs and says, "I really wish I didn't have to do this". He casts Fourth Dimension Transformation. Immediately, his body seems to sort of... warp. It's odd, because a few things are happening at the same time. It's becoming more polygonal. It is becoming blurrier, like there are many of him at the same time. His shape seems to warp in on himself, like a Klein bottle.
He floats up, becoming very hard to see, melding in with a tree, then looks about for a second. He comes back down for a moment. "From what I can see with my perceptions, I don't see any sign that they're here. I do see some interesting monsters and what may be treasure troves. We will have to do more exploring but I really doubt we'll find them... Wait. I've found one of them. She's alive."

Fred seems to be distant for a second, almost like he's had this conversation with Black several times. He shakes his head and then says, "Sorry, it's really hard to focus right now. The universe is... Well, anyways, exactly 1.3200814 miles that direction". Fred points. "She's hiding from something, I'm not sure".
