Tachi attempts to turn into the punch and attempts to throw his own, both prove to be poor decisions.
It strikes Tachi that he is attempting to trade blows not simply with someone larger than him but someone unnaturally well versed in such tactics. He finds in front of him a man who is truly a brawler first and a martial artists, as far as any ornamental or flowery meaning goes, as a far distant second.
As the two of you connect with one another Kimbo pushes not so much with force than with his entire presence. Said push makes counter-attack difficult and in a similar way to Tachi's field begins to force him down a certain avenue of movement as he throws a left hook at Tachi's head.

Tachi struggles to think of an alternative strategy. His more circular motions haven't worked to get his opponent to slow down or to give him control and his strongest linear attacks have failed. Mien Ch'uan synthesizes both approaches, as does mixed martial arts and to a much lesser extent savate, but he is still at a loss as to how to proceed.
He decides that he needs to mix it up. He hasn't been emphasizing his leg skills, and while his stance is oriented at upper body domination, Kimbo's kicks seem quite weak. He uses his Savate Counter, leg-checking the left hook so he can get a counter of his own, the Upward Knockout Kick.

Cutting his opponent off at the pass proves successful but is still by no means easy, even with Tachi's experienced leg work. Stopping such force is all that he can achieve before his ability to keep his balance is once again.
"You've got some pretty good moves" Kimbo comments "could use a little more fight and a little less finesse if you know what I mean".

Tachi laughs. "I'm usually told the opposite. Seems ya can't make everyone happy". My Ascension technique would be ludicrously inappropriate here... Tachi attempts to go for a Erupting Caldera, hoping that it will be sufficiently direct to deal with Kimbo, knowing Kimbo will probably try to continue his assault.

"I bet they're usually smaller dudes right? Only the large know about the large you hear what I'm sayin'?" Kimbo responds.
Seeing Tachi go for a throw Kimbo responds with an attempt to sild in and initiate a clinch. The ensuing rapid exchange of hands grasping and feeling for openings to take advantage of is one of robust and roughly equal intrigue.

Tachi smiles and says, "You got that right, bro". For once, he slips more into his Yakuza dialect.
Tachi is not a primary grappler, and he is feeling this inexperience. He attempts to use his Sticky Hands experience to insure that he can get a grip and go for the throw.

As Tachi deploys Sticky Hands Kimbo moves to defend himself with strategic throwing of his weight similar to what he has done already. What ensues can only be compared to a bear attempting to restrain a rolling bolder! More than a few of the participants at the gym stopping to watch such a momentous struggle.
After a rigorous and productive sparring session coupled with the other drills and the rest of the daily routine at the gym your foreign partner expounds on his earlier advice. His words and examples of using ones own weight and size against an opponent that sheds new light on being large, something Tachi might have thought impossible before now.
[Through in depth training all Tachi's MMA techniques have upgraded to A rank!]
[Tachi gained the trait Impact - Any knockdown or stagger successfully resisted by the opponent is re-rolled.]
