Is this OOG or IG? If IG: "That's how we arrange the books in this library."

Brunnengus and his group are now in a simply massive area of books. The robot's directions become clear: The books are arranged by color spectra rather than a numerical Dewey system. Brunnengus finds the area to look in quickly.

look for a book on old weapons and such, or for building smaller mechanical humanoids.

Smaller mechanical humanoids? What's your reasoning?
Two books on ancient Lunarian weaponry are noted. One is written from a historical perspective, studying the science of the Tower of Zot and chronicling the politics of Zemus' interventions and his exile. The other is a book written at the time that compiles scientific abstracts from the designers of all of these various systems, including the Giant of Zot.

Well, cool, I guess make a copy of that book with whatever magics I have available to me, then move on to trying to find a book on ancient experimental power sources in Lunarian tech.

A silvery paper is available in the reading rooms for copy. You simply take a copy of the light pattern of every book and put it in there to provide the copy. And by "that book", do you mean "those books"?
Again, two books present themselves. One is written in code, as if only for a highly specialized group. The code is clearly numeric, but the complex functioning of the math is very difficult for Brunnengus to master even with his very good grasp of Lunarian language.
The other is a real steal of a find, apparently not even supposed to be here. It is signed periodically by a HluYa, apparently the brother of KluYa (the father of Cecil and Golbez). It is quite chaotic, but deals seamlessly with practical applications, science of energy, and the prerequisited to produce devices like the Tower, the Big Whale and the Giant. The most interesting thing: The energy forms produce Legend power that allow the recovery of the items even when destroyed!

So this book owns hard then eh? I think I am done with this library for now. Get copies of all the books I found, trying to be subtle when copying that last book, in case someone has a problem with me knowing all dat. And I do want to copy the book I couldnt read also, cause good old Ikiru can help me with that.

Will you copy the secret book by your own means instead of through the provided copier, then?
Ikiru begins to work on the code of the book. The numbers are too colossal to mean very much, but all begin with a single one to two digit number. Something like: "3-12434223423".

All right, hints working here: Ikiru notices that the number system only works that way when it's translated into English. In different languages, numbers seem to change.
Brunny successfully copies the tomes in a secret manner. These will be added to the Communal Library, unless Brunny wants to keep it to himself.
The aforementioned Legend power of the Giant makes it incredibly easy to find the device in the Mnesis Codex. Same group sieging it?

If Brun can't take it alone, ask Milky, tell him I gotta fight something called a codex and he should be interested.

If anyone could take on spiritual copies of the Four Fiends, the CPU and the Motherboard, it'd be Brunny. However, Milky would probably be good, add on tons of HP plus his trump card.

What's the approach to this bastard like?

Essentially a repeat of the Giant of Zot dungeon in FF2, except that in the room where Golbez and FuSoYa met one goes further, hijacking the computer core (and therefore incurring the wrath of the whole Motherboard, not just the CPU itself). Brunny will probably then use Milky's hacking and a burst of Legend energy. From the book, he can produce just enough to activate the artifact, but it might be useful for Brunny to learn how to professionally channel the Legend energy as well [separate quest]. So, like three boss fights.
