From Jahn and others, Ikiru has discovered that there are twelve ancient puppets representing the animals of the Zodiac. They are sealed, possibly by Colossi, possibly in the Spirit Realms, possibly in the homes of the gods or their treasure troves, because to give them to mortals would be to put the wills of the celestials and the engines of fate at their literal fingertips!

One or perhaps all will be. Jahn believes that the culture he observes made at least three of the Puppets: Virgo, Scorpio and Aquarius. Others may have been made elsewhere or may have been looted and taken elsewhere.

I want to look for Cancer first, cause huge crabs rule. I will look for Scorpio in the other post regarding puppetry.

Fair enough. Will Ikiru begin looking at Jahn's notes, looking at what Cancer is and its meaning, seek out energy disturbances, what?

Khaliche seems a bit... TOO eager to create his ghost body to seek out the puppets. Neither, unfortunately, actually find anything, despite Khaliche's zealous and rare effort. Ikiru is not aware if he will have to fight the puppets, guardians of the puppets, or if the difficulty will be to find them or use them or...
Cancer is: "Cancer (cardinal, water, personal): protectively, sensitively, clingingly. Cancer -- "I feel," sensitive, tenacious, family and home oriented, helpful, nurturing, moody, stomach/breasts."

ok, immediately curb khalicche and say "I know you want to find one of those puppets and take its body as your own, but I want you to know, if you abandon me, there will no universe, dimension, or alternate reality far enough away for you to hide from me, so try not to confuse your loyalties too much."
Try to find an incredibly calm sea, possibly one used for a resort of sorts, and search in the waters there.

Khaliche says, "I think you have me mistaken, Ikiru. You have puppet bodies already: would I not have occupied one of them? I am simply... curious."
Ikiru does find such a calm sea, on a planet with no moon and thus no tides. The water moves slowly by its own currents but nothing else. The sea gently laps at itself, moving back and forward. However, Cancer is not calm (cardinal not fixed), and he finds nothing besides a beautiful sight.

I do see that, but in any respect at least at first glance there's nothing here.

Well, check out the botttom of the sea and dig around.

As Ikiru delves into the depths, he begins to see caves everywhere, paths through the deep coral and thick rocks, with oddly regularized openings (i.e. they are all of regular and smooth shapes and sizes).

Ikiru has managed to create the city of the collective unconscious in the placid waters of this colossal sea. Now he is getting lost in the phantasmal realities of the Outskirts, the places where the water is not so friendly and where negative emotion rules. The priest and the afraid man have proven decidedly unhelpful in providing advice, and there is still that enticing barrier...

What happened when i tried to breach said barrier?

Ikiru was simply unable to go through it. The psychic energy there is practically invulnerable and far beyond his ability to breach. Further, doing so probably would end the construction.

Most of the populace seems unaware, but there is one man who simply mutters, "The Core..."

what seems to be the most central point of the area

The barrier seems to be centered around it. The further from that Core one gets, the more chaotic, destructive and shaky things are.

attempt to pplace my mind in the consciousness of this place. does it seem the people here are able to go in and out of the portal?

Ikiru concentrates. He begins to feel a consciousness of all of humanity impinging... then collapses. He quickly rises once more.
The people here can go to the edge of the Outskirts, apparently, but it is believed by the populace no further.

Roam around, and try to find one of the strongest consciousness' around. Maybe if I can pull one link out and destabilize the entire hive mind the barrier will collapse.

The strongest consciousness appears to be in the Mayor's office of this quaint little city, where Mayor Goism is sitting.

Ikiru moves through the water and comes to a great ivory building. Immediately inside, interacting with the public on a raised platform, is Mayor Goism. He looks down at Ikiru and says, "Well! Welcome to my humble city!"

"They're going quite well, as always!" Ikiru knows that the Ego is likely to repel questions about its state that are very general in ways that are meaningless: "quite well" has definitions that are both subjective and functional. More specific questions may be needed. That having been said, the Mayor seems to not be distorting the truth too much: Most people here seem to be quite functional, and the only thing that is clearly an irritant is the stuff camped on the edge of town...
