Stormaxe says, "Well, no good mopin' about, let's get a move on!" He continues into the town to the areas they have yet to explore, moving at a slow enough pace to allow others to follow but a fast enough one to force them to...

Grove frowns "Im going to attempt to feed this spirit...to ease its pain, and possibly free it from its bondage....Father...I will need your assistance, if it posesses my body, excersize it." Grove attempts to feed it.

Stormaxe says through the fog, "Aye. Find a safe place to do this, Ghrove, we shall explore."

So, Grove, Tully, Abrams, and I suggest one more of the physical types should look into one of the nearby homes to carry out Groves idea. The remainders look into the surroundings?
Abrams voices concern about separating, noting that it could be dangerous. But provided we never split more than groups of three, or two at the very least, and stay close, at least within audiable distance, we should be okay.

"Aye, sirrah, we will not be far and we will not be alone." Stormaxe does not fear being alone: He is an independent thinker and has always done his own work. But he does appreciate whoever shall accompany him. "We shall return in two hours at the lahtest." He continues to explore...

Since he hasn't posted and he's the biggest of the bunch, Guts stays with Grove and the smarties in case of problems, and David goes with Chip and Stormaxe.
I'll post more on the matter when I'm not about to be late for work, and I mean that this time.

The larger of the nearby buildings is the one with the broken entryway, the one that looks like it's frame was crushed by something pushing against both sides, with the door laying smashed inside. Not the usualy zombie battering. It would provide the most shelter and seclusion for the attempted energy transfer, but would take precious seconds to get in there, and you don't know what awaits within. You may need to just start right here in the street. That's your call Grove.
As for Chip, David, and Stormaxe: The road is lumpy, squished about from every day foot traffic on streets that grow muddy with the rain and then dry out in clumps, eventually getting battered to again being somewhat flat. They haven't been battered lately. Also, Chip and Stormaxe, tell me your Per: Detail stats please.... except I think I have Chips sheet, so I'll look that up before the next post.
Small cottages and huts line the street patchily, all of them empy and unwelcoming, like a litteral ghost town. The mist billows about, giving an eerie sense of life to the area and casting shadows on itself. After I the Detail stats I'll note what there is to note further down the road.

I've got it, chip has a 9, David an 8 with a modifier due to area of expertese.
The three's excellent attention to detail see's through even the thick blanket of fog and the ground's uneven lumpy mess.
Aside from the regular foot and wagon traffic that swished and sloshed the ground around, there is a set of tracks, large and bestial. Not from any humanoid. Upon closer inspection, David identifies them as Bear tracks. Fairly large ones at that. Around them is a still squishy, darkly colored goo of sorts. They head to and from the smashed doorway house.
Goo? Stormaxe might want a sample.
David wonders if the animal came here scavenging for food after everything went to hell.

Stormaxe takes a vial and samples all the liquids in the area. "Perhaps this bear is an animated beast like the other monstrosities..."

The substance is like a very stiff paste. Like a mix between hardening clay and slightly melted rubber, though quite cold. It takes a moment to scrape some off.
Moving on, the uneven streets eventually come to a small hub of the town, right into the center it seems. There is still no signs of life, or unlife for that matter. Of particular note however: A tavern, The Jovial Ursine, sits nearby. Barricaded against attack, unlike the rest of the buildings in the area. Either these folks suspected something, or they plainly knew something the rest diddn't. Their makeshift walls made from shipping crates and wooden planks show extreme battering, but not breaks. However as is there seems to be little in the way of "convenient" ways to enter the building.

Stormaxe examines the barricading. He attempts to determine if his explosive potion will safely blow a hole into the location and not cause it to burn. He also uses his charisma and his voice to yell out, "Let us in! We are Slayers of the half-dead abominations, ye townsfolk!"

David wonders aloud "I wonder if anyone is inside to hear us..."
The makeshift walls of packing crates look dampened by the mist and regular rains of the area. Provided the blast wasn't of an incendiary nature, that would work. But it would also remove any protections the walls give which may, or may not be necessary. With the combine strengths of David, Stormaxe, and chip, you would take ages to unmake the mess.

At this point, Stormaxe is committed to an all-or-nothing strategem: Get as much help from the townsfolk left, if any, as possible and win or die trying. He announces, "All right, lads, [referring both to those inside the place, if any, and his allies], shtay away from the door, there will be fire in the hole!" He prepares his explosive, non-pyrotechnic potion.

David gets the "Oh shit" face that the situation warrants and activity is heard within, a quickened set of footsteps against hardwood floors and a feint "eep!" of a womanish voice heard by anyone with a hearing > 6. (who's there anyway)
Since Feickert and James haven't posted on the issue of his further interrogations of the ghost, he had botched his roll which would have resulted in a posession, but I'll just change that to "the link went dead" and end that session over there. They're done and will likely come-a-runnin' when they hear the boom.
I'm not sure if this is your characters decision, or an attempt to "Hurry this game the hell up" but I could understand both. heh...

OOG: I thought it actually made some sense: Free survivors.
Stormaxe clears out like none other, getting far away from the explosion. He knows more than anyone how deceivingly powerful shockwaves are. He wondered if wizards of illusion and magic might in the future make explosions seem trivial and easy to escape for the sake of drama... Nah.

David puts a hand on his hat to secure it and sprints after you two. After a quick moment the blast shatters the silence of the evening, the shockwave flying into view in the form of displaced fog. After waiting a moment to let the debris settle, David gets the mind to look.
A hole has indeed been blasted in the crushed remnants of barricade, small smoldering sparks lay about, easily extinguished by temperature and ambient moisture alone. The darkness of the front entrance can be seen, particularly so now that a good 30ft radius of fog has been displaced from the area.
This blast of course alerts Abrams, Tully, Grove, and Guts who are dying to find out what the hell just happened. They make haste to find out.

Chip will follow behind david and stormaxe, but will be facing more outwards, looking into the mist. If there is anything unfriendly about the blast was bound to have alerted them, and he doens't want to get snuck up on.

Chip makes to cover the rear as Stormaxe hurries in.
"You've a awfully strange means for bein' a rescue party." Says a voice from the dark inside. Coming closer the shillouette comes into view. "But you're a welcome sight, I tell you that."
It looks like you've found them.

"Bonnie," The man says to someone unseen "The lantern please. ...it will be fine."
Some movement is heard, then a moment later a woman is illuminated as she lights an oil lantern on a bar table, then the man you're speaking to.
She wears a barmaid outfit, low cut and frilly, while the man stands in the tunic and leathers of one of the guardsmen. Nearby can also be seen a hunched, concerned looking older man, sitting near the bar, accompanied by an older woman and a young man also in guardsmen clothes.
"We five are all we know of." says the man. "My name is Lars, Sherrif of... what's left." He lowers his head briefly. "This is Bonnie, O'Connor, his wife Sarah, and Deputy Kenneth." He motions around the room to the barmaid, old man, old woman, and guardsman in turn.
About this time, hurried footsteps are heard outside. Lars looks in the direction despite the lack of line of sight. "Your Kinsmen I hope?"

"What? We aren't leaving?" Says the Sherrif concerned. The expressions on those around the room is grim. They were certain you came to get them out of here.
Chip takes a wise precaution, but through the parted mist that has yet to settle from the blast comes his comrades. Relieved as he may be, he thinks it may still be a good idea to keep a sharp eye.

"Yes, we wish to get ye out of here, but we also wish to end the scourge that necessitates you leaving. We have enough in our group to possibly escort you back, but if ye have the courage to defend your village, we may be able to make that not even a neshessity." (He is attempting to convince them.)
