Those who can defeat a Colossi (see Private Campaign) can unlock a character sealed within it. These are modifications and rules to take into account:
1) The simplest restriction is that the character must have been sealed for a reason. They might have made someone mad (which would translate to a Hunted Negative), someone with the ability to seal up a person. They might have a power that is too dangerous to allow to exist: Think Elie/Resha Valentine's Etherion power, or Gohan's Saiyan abilities, or Wyatt Halliwell's unique powers.
2) The Trait Trained by An Old Guard Member or Related to an Old Guard Member is generally not possible, unless
a) the character was sealed up relatively recently or in the future
b) the Old Guard member in question was an avid dimensional or time traveller or was a very old immortal and thus could have encountered the character
Note that this restriction does not apply to training slots: once the member has joined Crashing Heavens, they will get their retinue of 8-12 trainers. The restriction is a common sense one: The character comes from before the era of the Old Guard.
3) Some Classes will be beyond the reach of the character, for the very same reason as #2: they are relatively recent schools or arts developed in the days of the Old Guard/Fate's Guardians. Conversely, some Classes that may have been lost or underplayed in modern days are allowed.
4) The flipside of #2 and #3 is that, like a Heaven/Hell character, the Colossus character is likely to be experienced and very powerful. They may be involved in some very old history: for example, the attempt to seal the Beast of Universal Suffering, or the Councils against the All-Monster. A perfect example is Pander, whose Heaven side was a Nebruyin even older than the great Deynar and involved with the Universal Magi Councils (though himself not a Universal Magi), while his Hell side Blackgut was the greatest Admiral of the Hagunennon Empire's history. Both made a stand to protect the Councils and died during that fight.
This also allows characters to play historically anachronistic characters. A cowboy or gunslinger character would be an awesome one, or an ancient samurai or knight. RP-wise, these characters should have culture shock: for them, no or little time has passed, yet technological and cultural change of unbelievable proportions has happened. Archaic manners of behavior, speech, and technology should be played to their fullest.
The character will be slightly stronger than most of the team, with more Class Points, higher Attributes and Affinities.
