Sammuel was created from a combination of two of the greatest minds in crime history. Sammuel Nightblade, which Derrick Nightblade is a decendent of, and Mortriarty were rivals. Mortriarty was a serial killer who no one could catch...except for Sam. Sam always close behind Mortriarty at every turn but always missing him by the slightest. They finally confronted in a battle in an alley where there was going to be no winner, a collapsing building killing them both. They ended up killing each others bodies at the same exact time. this battle sparked the creation of Sammuel Mortriary who is a vampire investigator with a soul. He is a reserved character looking to redeem himself, he has an eye for detail and whenever working on a mission, he makes sure to take the files on any of the characters from the rangers database. He is a dedicated man and works hard to finish his work with a finesse not normally seen.

Merits are like D&D Feats, or WoW Talents, or Fallout Perks: character abilities that are more meta-game than an actually identifiable skill.
Traits are special attributes or characteristics, mostly gained at starting, that help define the characters.
Disposition is the character's outlook, quirks, etc.
A Dark-Light path is ripped unapologetically from Seiken Densetsu 3. Dark paths tend to stress offense and the character's darker side, while Light paths tend to stress defense/support and the character's lighter side. It is not a "good"/"evil" choice: in fact, for many, choosing Dark is the more ethical decision.
