Before I start thinking of character ideas, is there any extra direction you can give as far as character creation is concerned? (Do you want us to be good/evil? Should we be focused more on expansive characters or just local hero types? Etc..)

One thing that does change character creation is the primary nature of the artifacts that JK's making.

You shall be good, and your basic disposition shall be determined by the item that you choose, as will be explained a bit more.
The Kedamono Amulet, represents the Panther. Color: Black. Notes: The character fights utilizing the Panther style. Quick and agile style. This character is quiet and watchful, lazy in some regards, though has a hidden anger.
The Korai Amulet, represents the Komodo Dragon. Color: Red. Notes: The character fights utilizing the Primordial style. An aggresive fighting style to quickly put down an opponent. This character is patient, yet feircely aggresive when it comes to his/her goals.
The Inu Amulet, represents the Dog. Color: Brown. The character fights with (undefined) style. Will be an aggresive style of some sort that may support enhanced fatigue and fighting spirit. This charatcer is fun loving and reliable. Always willing to extend an ear and be there for a friend. Aggresive when it comes to the endangerment of his/her friends.
The Kousotsu Amulet, represents the Hercules Beetle. Color: Purple. The character fights utilizing the (undefined) style. Will be a wrestling style of some sort. This character stands firm and isn't afraid to get his hands dirty, has a slight temper.
The Gai Amulet, represents the Praying Mantis. Color: **Undefined. The character fights utilizing the Mantis style. Quick and aggresive, yet agile. This character is calculative and is a bit selfish, but does know what loyalty and honor mean.
The Hebi Amulet, represents the Serpent. Color: Green. The character fights utilizing the Serpant style. Waitful, strikes with quick attacks to place opponents on the defensive. This character is reserved, choosing to be observant then gung-ho, yet easily angered if stepped on (not literaly).
Notes: Each amulet is silver, and has a stone placed in the center. The stone's color depends on the amulet's animal. I also chose to use unqiue fighting styles to enhance the feel of each character. Keep in mind, i'm still toying with the idea an am trying to find appropiate styles for each. I have very limited knowledge of MA styles, so its a bit difficult. For styles that you may not know from Palladium, they're home made, and as i stated may just go away.
**The Gai amulet's color changes when near another amulet, becoming a slighly mucky version of that amulets color.
You may also choose to slightly alter the animals disposition that you choose, which alters and makes the template for your characters own personality.

James likes the Hercules Beetle. He also says he will destroy it entirely with his fist.
