Well, yeah I need to add some finalizing touches to the character sheet then I'll put a copy and Nationsen and link it to the forum... Until then I guess just wait and come up with the basics: Name/Age/etc.. I believe we already decided on Shintar/Zealot or Cleric for your Race and Class..
Well, actually I'm not sure that character will work for the online campaign (Since I don't intend for this to play a large part of the Nurmethian Invasion)... Sorry, but unless you want your character to start alienated from the party, you're going to have to come up with a different idea for this specific campaign. But I'll be up for doing your Sintar in a private thread, just soloing.

We had decided on my race and class.
Can I do both? I have no problem playing separately and foiling all of them; heck, that's what I originally signed up for. If that means I can also play a more teamy-oriented character, I would love to do that as well. I've rarely been a brick in a fantasy campaign; might be worth it to be one, especially if the team is in need of one.
How are Shintar Races made? I imagine he is in the equivalent of his 30s (taking into account not just biology but history, as I imagine life expectancy is much shorter here), a little wizened but certainly not old and definitely not old enough to garner much automatic respect for his wacky views.

Yeah, probably a bit younger, Shintar don't have extremely long lifespans... If you want we can RP two characters simultaneously and have the Shintar attempting to foil the parties plans, or we can just do the Shintar seperately. Since no character's have really been developed yet, I can't suggest any types of characters needed (it's pretty free at the moment).
Any other ideas of character types you would like to try out? I can give you the list of races/classes, if you want.

The Shintar's too crazy to foil anything. But his culty behavior WILL mess people up. And then help them. And then hurt them again.
I'm thinking a brick character, maybe a brick archer or distance fighter of some sort.

What do you mean by 'brick character'?

Heavy endurance and strength, maybe on the dumb/slow/uncharismatic side.

Hmm, yeah that could work. There are alot of ranged classes to choose from. Check out the Races/Classes threads in the Rules section.

I'd go for either a Lizardman or a Pheonix Orc. I want to leverage high strength both for slings and other ranged items and for heavy weapons close up, perhaps a battering ram too.

Well then you'd probably be looking at a Kajuro Orc. Since Pheonix are more built to be spellcasters and Lizardmen are more weak and agile...

Sure, Kajuro Orc.

Okay, sounds good. Next we need to choose a class, any sound appealing?

You know, now that I've seen the classes, I'm actually thinking a Pheonix Orc Golem-Mage, with a substantial degree of brick skill. Put everything into Strength, Stamina (try to be a stamina caster) and whatever prereqs are for magicianry and leave everything else to suffer.

Sounds good. Being a Golem-mage is interesting because you can gain experience just from being in the presence on your element. For example: A wind Golem-mage might get a small experience bonus just for taking a nice relaxing walk on a windy day, or maybe a little more if he spends a couple hours meditating on top of a real windy cliff.
It's not a major experience bonus, but it definately helps. And if you're looking for a high stamina caster a Pheonix Orc is definately the way to go (Racial Stamina + Spell Casting).

I imagine it's vital to do so not just for "experience" but to recharge physically, emotionally . However, does that mean you get a bunch of exp. for being in a hurricane? I'm loving this character so far. So, the few wind spells I want should be oriented towards: accelerating objects and improving accuracy (perhaps Guidance of Wind), enhancing perception and locating targets, and holding more shot.

Yeah, those are wind spells, but I believe you will only be starting with one or two spell, and they will only be level one spells. You get access to level two spells at level four, but I think some of those spells are included in the level one spell group.
Yeah, a hurricane would be very very good for you, not sure how many you're going to be running into, but the ability to direct wind may come in handy because I may end up doing a sea-faring campaign... But yes, communing with your element does help you recharge and is essential to play your class (you also gain slightly less experience the normal way, so it kinda balances out)

Okay. Sounds all good. I gave you more of a template of where to take my character. For now, either something that makes my skin harder, me seem larger or accelerates my throws can be my level one spell. (I assume that a lot of my skill is in fact "spell-like" effects almost at will that comprise my elemental manifestation).
And my Zealot? What skills or things do I need to work out?

|
Post by kazuzic on Nov 30, 2005 2:03:28 GMT -5
Well, the spells you start with won't be very powerful... You're Zealot will also have a skill or two to choose when he starts out, but I don't have that class fully fleshed out, so you're going to have to wait a bit on that, sorry.

I don't imagine they will be. I wanted to be primarily a brick. A speedy, fast brick with projectiles is better than I imagined.
I can play the Shintar without my skills for some time.

Right, just keep in mind everyone starts out around the same general level, then diversifies from there.
And I suppose that could work with the Shintar, but it could get tedious not having skills if you get into combat.

Heh, sounds good.. I still need to get a good character creation system with a sheet and all on the site, but school's kinda hectic right now... but I plan to put some stuff up sometime soon. Then we can finish your characters.
