Since some folks have fewer characters than others, if you want to play a NPC, you can do so. Alternately, might want to familiarize yourself with the NPC members of Crashing Heavens! If anyone's interested, I can post my rather limited list of their abilities.
Akali: A female Yautja Predator with demonic heritage who has managed to ascend to minor kinghood.
Amdalus: A purple-skinned humanoid with an almost egg-like sheen, this Jack-of-all-disciplines is a somewhat lazy and depressed intellectual who finds fighting and combat boring yet is cursed by his birth as a Were-Dragon with the ability to become the Falling Dragon to be a warrior.
Barik Vorkans: The rival of Jess among Epitaph in the Dark Tournament, Barik is a Truth Magi, which benefits his "day job" as a high-ranked UEG prosecutor. Though he did join CH after the Dark Tournament, he had been spending a good portion of his time doing his normal duties, and is only now returning to primary action. As a Truth Magi, he can heal, defend, unmask illusion, and use powerful effects with single elements, as well as break the dualities and hypocrisies of opponents.
Barney Briareus: Barney appears initially to simply be a World War II veteran, polishing his Garand and telling stories of fighting the fascists. But this Heaven/Hell creation hides forty-nine more pairs of arms that while working on a weapon and regaling one with tales can pick one's pocket and light one's mother on fire.
Beau: A masterful Wilderness Scout of the Forest Tribe (Bo and Bow of BOF and BOF II's race), Beau is cocky and a veritable prima donna.
Birral the Dumpster Girl: Birral was found with Rak'ash and others in the Grand Grimoire. True to her name, this Flooper (a race of short, rotund humanoids - she is somewhat less spherical than most of her race - with the capability to "floop" into a safe pocket dimension) uses mostly improvised parts taken from what others would consider junk. Using primarily Technique and Magic, she is able to produce amazing items with a junk or "recycled item" theme.
Bombardi II: A clone of the original detonations-based Cryo. He recently has begun to wield a massive blade called the Megaforce Sword, somewhat similar to Haru Glory's Decaforce Sword...
Chael Kahal: One of Jin's drinking buddies that he met before stopping the Blood Pheonix cult's ritual on a cruise ship. A Skairbcee with more than a great liver, Chael is a master of the Thundering Light school of the Skairbcee. Chael is somehow involved with Kell's experience, and aside from Jin they have yet to
Chavez Xolotihuaca:
Clobberhorn: Inspired by the Battletoads, this triceratops-mutant has a martial art that stresses bizarre and over-the-top attacks that resemble giant fists, boots, ten ton weights, etc.
Crash Fox: The Kitsune hacker and spiritualist who faced Milky in the Epitaph round. She has since begun dating Milky. Her Gifts, incredible strength and speed, her Veritech of pure spells, all belie a very sexy and ditzy personality.
Crystal Mix: Milky's ex-girlfriend and a club owner in Indonesia, Crystal has become a de facto member since not only assisting Milkdrop with finding a demon for his cape but also putting Jesse to work in the final round of the Dark Tournament. Crystal is not only a hacker but a prodigious remixer, and she has a skill at producing methamphetamines (from a period in her life that she doesn't very much like to dwell on) and crystalline structures with her calculations.
Dalas: A Dream Snake recruited through a mystic contract after facing Nobi, Pander, Mosho and Furax. Little is known so far about Dalas except for his predilections for African symbolism, especially lions, in the dreams he creates, his titanic endurance, and the general behavior pattern of Dream Snakes.
Dr. Blammo: The counterpart to the sniper Crawdaddy, Dr. Blammo is similarly oddly named and of odd behavior. He seems almost childlike in stupidity, in the way he can utter the obvious with no perception of the absurdity of the statement. However, this Octoman's skin turns livid green and red in battle as he uses a style of constant speedy attacks and close-ranged assaults. He is a master of Quicksilver Gravity, being a natural Initiate.
Dr. Og Kalintaro:
Envy: Another one of the Sons of Sensui, Envy is a woman who knows what she wants when she's not being brainwashed by a charismatic and mysterious quasi-cult leader. She is a master of illusion, psychic disruption, and similar abilities to disrupt her opponents' unity and turn them against each other. Her skills were masterful against the Stormguard. She formerly modeled but began to become extremely irritated with the sexism of modeling, which is what made her susceptible to the Incubation of Sensui. Scintillating blond hair is contrasted against a frame that seems to be a combination of Arab, African and Thai features, a gem of a beauty indeed.
Excellia: Jin's former enemy in the Dark Tournament, Excellia is a member of the former Splugorth slave race, the Blind Warrior Women, naturally blind creatures who breed by cloning and are superhumanly dextrous and aware. She shares Jin's dexterity, but Excellia uses blunt weapons, unlike Jin's preference for blades; her style is defensive and slow, unlike Jin's offensive rush; she is calm and sober, unlike Jin's drunken poles of emotion; she focuses on strength instead of speed. However, both share a predilection for the mystical and for unique forms of ki and chakra, a desire to prove themselves through fighting, a tragic past, and a focus on the martial arts.
Frank Brown: A former high-placed Acolyte of the Bloody Debauchery cult, Frank is serving penance for his crimes in Crashing Heavens. His mastery of dark rituals is almost unsurpassed. He suffered with cerebral palsy and polio as a child so his body has an odd crippled feel to it.
Frayrunner: A member of the super-powerful Bhlaze race, Frayrunner is a being of pure energy who was set to fight Aera in the semi-final matches.
Ganba Marlin the IV: A Fish Tribe merchant, master of the oceans and collector of valuable items. In combat, he relies upon his bevy of items, using his Charisma to benefit his allies, bodyguards, pets and the power of the oceans, which he can conjure in many a way.
Gluttony: One of the Sons of Sensui, the group Crashing Heavens never quite managed to put away. Gluttony originally accosted the team by turning a restaraunt into his stomach. Gluttony's powers have increased exponentially since then, and this "portly" (the jury's out as to whether that's fat or muscle) gentleman helped more than he could imagine when he finished his Transgressive chemical attack on the Stormguard. Gluttony was formerly a very well-known restaraunt critic, which he has returned to, providing him with a very good cover...
Handyman: This simplistically named Neuro-Troll, while being particularly intelligent, also suffered from paranoid delusions and irrational rages, and is now recuperating with Crashing Heavens. He is a master necromancer and brawler, combining incredible variety of powers from his skulls (his essence fragments) with incredible strength from his body.
Helvena Bart: The Titan of the team, wielding the Frostmourne, one of the great Dualists (those with the power both of "evil" and "good). One of the originally assigned Ranger advisors and liaisons. See Kumo Scareye for the description of Helvena's long-standing rivalry with Kumo, from their days working together in the Ranger unit Battle Cannon.
Hobol Sackwhite: A Halfling inventor and expert anti-robot fighter. His brother, Holbo, is a member of the mercenary group hired for the Ur-Katal mission.
HX-7: This robot's past is almost completely wiped clean. No records of its creation have been made. It does have an encyclopedic knowledge of classified information, including a substantial amount on FOXHOUND. Perhaps it was built to infiltrate Foxhound? One thing is sure: Its featureless faintly silver body will tell no answers.
Ikash Harmuk: The Third Emperor of the Katalian Dynasty, this undead has incredible power and even a rare Protohorcrux! His Beast Guard individual undead minions can give even CH members a run for their money, and his personal treasure trove even after CH distributed it is colossal.
Jangagan: Completing the circle of Troll-Rastafarian co-inspiration, Jangagan is a troll of Kalimdor who is also a devout Rastafarian! His belief is so deep that he is very anti-scientific, judgmental of drunks (though he has a respect gained in battle for Mosho Homebrew), and so on. His powers are metaphysical, inspired by Jah, and include Troll and Jamaican lore, including duppies, Witch Doctor powers, healing, and so on.
Jonas Schopenhauer: Encountered when the team caught this man cheating at a race (admittedly heavily rigged already) that was used to recruit the Pirate of the Bottle, this effete alchemist puts on airs, but his history in Amestris is quite checkered indeed. He is a master Alchemist with a specialization in velocity, modifying mechanical objects like vehicles or automail with alchemy, and creating transmutation circles on people's arms or in scroll forms such that non-alchemists can use them.
Kell-Jylar: A Graei with an incredible array of superpowers. He and Chael met Jin in a drinking competition. Kell became an alcoholic due to a mysterious exercise that went totally awry in the Graei Gladiator Corps (their military equivalent)... His eyes glow blue unlike most Graei.
Kingsley:A shy and calm Nu Mou, he surprisingly is a master of mystic chaos.
Klene: Formerly of the Splugorth (indeed closely connected to the team that killed Nobi's parents), Klene like Excellia finally became disgusted because of the sacrifice of Ol' Red-Eye (the Cyclops , Cyber-Knight). What made him feared was his ability to create an Animus-Morph, an independently acting aural projection that stresses the animalistic design preferences of the Kittani race, shifting from crab to serpent to equestrian constantly. His training allowed Crash Fox to make her Spell-Form Veritech.
Khs: A Tzemke who was specially bred with the knowledge not only of Kobra Velania but also the Jedi that the Tzemke had come into contact with. His six arms wield an executioner's blade, both a lightsaber form and not; a impact mace; a missile lightsaber sword-shield; and a neuronic whip. His powers are all Light Side-based. His markings are ostentatiously green and yellow, except for a white and red theme on his chest indicating Med Tzemke descent.
K'rtak Brflay: A Pincer Warrior formerly of Epitaph, this surprisingly sophisticated warrior was widely touted as a possible Jin killer, though Excellia ended up taking the role.
Kriltil Pug: The enigmatic head of Pug Enterprises, Kriltil is a Tonberry. Like most of his race, he is quite slow, mostly relying on a hover chair; and since his speech is slow and quite intimidating for most, he generally relies on a holographic speech projector. He more than compensates for laughably slow speed compared to his teammates with incredible damage potential, skill at AI, gambling (both with powers that do wildly ranging effects and damage and literally at games of chance), bringing in money, piloting his ship, breaking blockades, and being a merchant that rivals Ganba Marlin.
Kumo Scar-Eye: One of the originally assigned advising officers of Crashing Heavens, Kumo has lost one eye and more blood than easily imaginable in his days with the Rangers. Though often underestimated, being a Moogle and thus a cute little pink teddy bear, his combination of magic/summoning, engineering skills, and a mastery of the unique Moogle Classes has lead to the death of more foes than can be counted. Oh, and he talks like a stereotypical Hollywood drill sergeant. He and Helvena have an almost Gai/Kakashi-esque rivalry, with each having won 200 of their competitions. One of the competitions was a cuteness competition, which Kumo donned Michael Jackson white gloves and rocket ship swim trunks for.
Laura Wild: A former SWAT Team member that helped the team in the investigation of the Xenosian Revivalists, Laura recently discovered that her incredible innate strength and powers were due to her mother being a Rotting Nature Demon. She is a Legion Hunter, a police officer with fifteen years of intense experience, and wields Damien Legion's very White and Black Legion Blades.
Luomau In'a'woma:
Maximillian: Maximillian is quite a strange bird. Being a Rulian Translator, he has a natural ability for language, which manifests as Naming Magic. He is a Calligraphic Verbologist, capable of altering words and thereby altering reality! His skills even dwarf Remzeyr Zamday's, and he can indeed use the Oscillation of the Equivocator. He is also a natural psychic and telepath of prodigious skill. Though normally quite docile and analytic, he mysteriously acquired a carbon copy of Xardion, the AI unit that in a distant galaxy was feared as an apocalypse weapon of legendary proportions! When in Xardion, Maximillian is the match of Amdalus' Falling Dragon, and the two have a deep friendship.
Miguel Ashokasura: This cleancut Spanish man is always eminently classy, drinking a Mohito and kissing the lady's hand. Yet rumors circle. Spy? Demon hunter? Demi-god? Some combination of the above? More? His swarthy skin only emanates aftershave, no answers.
Mr. Fo: A master of Tien Hsueh and the arts of manipulating Atemi and pressure points, Mr. Fo is an ancient and powerful warrior. He has enough experience to teach these whippersnappers lessons [literally: he can teach], and loads of Negative Ki. Badcat has been rumored to be checking out his innovations on Chakra Spear techniques...
Niilor: This Ork is a rare creature indeed: Formerly of Paradigm, a mercenary of once incredible brutality and a Warboss who crushed her foes, but who became inspired by many (including Daedrous, who she seems to be spending more time around) to master Mudras. She was the runt of her pack and always was aware of it, and is usually surrounded by insects, being an entomologist. When she joined the Old Guard, studying under Beezwax, Gil Grissom and other OG masters of insects and entomology fulfilled a dream of hers. She is, like Theta, Welka and Ufo, a Tier point higher than most of the team, even the Heaven/Hell and Colossus characters.
Pyetja Zendress:A half-Zentraedi cocky flyboy, Pyetja pilots a special Veritech fighter.
Rak'ash Shadowtooth An Ogrish premier escape artist who for some reason was found in the Grim Grimoire.
Rantraopa: The rival of Anderson and a Legacy against God.
Rashel Jacob:
Raysh: The Bangaa den mother and protector of her community (one of the Xenosian port cities), picked up by Crashing Heavens during the destruction of the Xenosian Revivalists. She is a master Dragoon, Bishop/White Mage, Gladiator/Magic Knight, Monk, Templar (an anti-magic class), and has an ultra-customized Shadow/Flame Xenosian Elite Trooper armor. Her children, Mangacarte and Brenta, have become quite attached to Crashing Heavens, considering themselves official mascots in a declaration wholeheartedly endorsed by Helvena, Denios, Quion, Sarashito, Crash Fox and others, while being sneered at by the more sober members of the team. They have agreed to training from Kumo, who is having difficulty being as mean as he needs to be for his unique brand of exercise regimen...
Rayzen: One of the aforementioned Blood Pheonix cult members, Rayzen has been slavishly serving Jess, despite his own incredible abilities at mimicking his mentor (DF the Id Fury, for the slow among you). Her disappearance at the end of the Dark Tournament has become quite a shock to him. He focuses on being the Adversary, combining boss forms and powers of nemeses.
Shadowshine: This Vashau assassin turned away from the traditional psychic and shadow powers of his race and explored light and energy under the guidance of the Four Forces Mages. His powers over the fundamental forces of reality is almost unparalleled, and now that he has begun re-exploring his heritage, he can combine brutal assassin techniques, shadow manipulation (which when combined with the ability to control light and gravity makes him capable of whittling down powerful opponents while remaining nigh-undetectable), etc.
Stral:
Theta: The Insectoid from Paradigm in the Dark Tournament, Theta has an odd fascination with model ships and is a grand master of draining. (He is a good Tier removed from the players at the moment.) He is a prodigious magician, odd for his mantis-like body with mosquito tendril.
Ufo: The Nebruyin master of expulsion who was the first saved in the Dark Tournament, Ufo has always had a difficulty with personal space and cooperation with others, which is why his repulsion power and Technique is so intense. With the help of the team, he is beginning to let down his barriers, physical and mental.
Vendrazs Kas:Jonas Schopenhauer's pupil and simultaneous experiment, Vendrazs Kas is most noteworthy by his strange arms and legs (obviously automail with an artificial biological skin) covered with tattoos (obviously alchemical in nature), incredible speed, and surly disposition.
Viktor Blackwing: A former Mafia Capo, Viktor (real name: Fi'rae) Blackwing is a rare thing indeed, a cutthroat Ateng with a criminal's sense of honor. He commands Butterdust's Butterfly Swarm and has an unparalleld skill with the Ateng Dances.
Welka: This Klingon amazingly turned the usual mysticism and practice of her culture into a prodigious Ki, even mastering elements of Taoism, such as her fabled ability to turn the blades of the Klingon (which she dual-wields) into the Blade-Mandates of Heaven!
X-Rog: A Deep Sea Troglodyte berserker, X-Rog has a quiet sensibility, a peace that belies the incredible rage he unleashes in battle, and a subtle intelligence and common sense.
These are special NPCs that I will not loan out to others:
Denios Arisada: Denios has a number of appearances, but most of the time he appears as a slightly larger-sized demon with a yellow and white pattern. He has Asiatic features that are belied by his large horn set. His body smells constantly like ozone and clashing metal. His mouth sometimes is calm and placid, but when he bellows there is a storm bubbling inside it.
Erishkai and Danara: These secretive twins are almost always seen together, as if they have survived only by virtue of the other's counterbalancing and protection. Both are members of the Two-Faced Star People or Erishik, a race of sub-demonic supernaturals. In their natural form, they have star-shaped marks over their face, wrinkled skin, nasty canines and in general a demonic appearance. Erishkai rarely smiles, his eyes scintillating with cold and secrecy, mystery and intrigue simply coming from them. He is slimmer and seems more perceptive than his sister. Danara is muscular and strong, and while cheery she also has a nasty habit of saying mean, tactless, gauche or insensitive things, not usually out of malice but because of her natural ability and skill at revealing the hidden. However, both are frequently in other forms, for the dark secret of the Erishik is that they kill and eat victims to acquire their shape, one of many species of like dopplegangers. These two are rare in that they can consume many souls (perhaps because of their unique requirement that they transform into paired sets: A Glitter Boy pilot and a Glitter Boy Killer pilot) but do not relish the opportunity and honor the memories of those they have eaten for whatever reason.
Felhame Pranax Dirk: Oddly enough, despite the alien Simvanity, the Western apparel (with the slightest tinges of the archaic and anachronistic), the monstrous rides and the vapor that propels this creature at speeds beyond the wind, Felhame is somehow a being that one can stare at and feel wisdom and age simply emanating from. Her quiet manner, walking staff, penchant for fireworks, and so on may even remind students of Middle Earth of a certain wizard... Of course, at the prominences of Hell, students of the netherrealms can see a refined lord of demons who derives just as much pleasure from amateur science as from turning his thoraxed-arm into a spinning chainsaw.
Krane:Krane seems like a fairly standard Xiticix Leaper. Her legs are long and powerful, clearly designed for powerful jumps and kicks, and incredibly flexible, bending not only at the knees but also at the shin and thigh. They are clearly strongest when used to kick to her rear. Stretching behind her are moth-like wings, not very large and clearly designed for hovering and precise motion rather than great speed. Her head is almost demonic and quite distinct from other Xiticix: Red composite eyes recessed under a heavy ridge, a third eye in the center of her forehead, and additional small eyes placed around her head, all protected by a jagged carapace. The skull and body are barbed and spined. Two large spines, probably antennae, grow out of her back. On either side of her head are two fins that further protect her head from damage. Her mouth is not at all insectoid but is far more arachnid, with hooked mandibles, an unhinging jaw that can bite from virtually any direction, and a slightly green-sheened poison.
Krane's behavior is truly strange. She is a Monk, but of a strange amalgamation of spiritualities that seem to be amoral if not immoral.
She is usually accompanied by a Mamodo named Gran. Gran at first glance seems like an innocent and small child. But then one notices that his skin resembles less the skin of a child than a perforated exoskeleton, and that underneath the exoskeleton are deadly quills. He has no eyelids, instead a perforated double-layered visor that is either up, partially down or down. His eyes are white splotches with a free-floating red misshapen mass that seems to function as the pupil/irises
Quion Lumina-Rossis:Quion is the son of Fred Lumina-Weise and Sylphana Rossis. He is famous for his pranks, jokes, and sarcasm, almost like his "uncle" Badcat, but he has a spiritualism and shamanism like his "uncle" Thrash. He typically has his blond hair and hazel-blue eyes complimented by punk-like clothing and accoutrements, including a great mohawk.
Sarashito Mitsaroshi: This ditzy girl in a Japanese schoolgirl outfit is far more dangerous than she appears, and it appears has mental issues she keeps obscured. She is dating Quion, and he appears to enjoy her high cheekbones, thin lashes and brows, pearly smile, and shy but intelligent and sensitive demeanor. She wears purple highlights and has a wacky side, frequently doing J-Pop concerts with Quion doing backup singing, and she has made his pranks somewhat kinder and less threatening.
Sarashito seems to have a cauldron of mental problems underneath her superficially shy and wilting exterior. She has claimed alternately to be Gein and LeMontagne, apparently suffering from some form of MPD. In addition, she seems to have been tormented during her time with the Mainland government of Scryed Earth, having shared part of this abuse with Mauler, Quion and Vincent Hack.
Low Power Characters and Apprentices:
Bahk: A Kittani Monk who has forsaken the heavy weaponry and exoskeleton piloting of his race.
Branta: Branta, unlike her brother, is going a more pacifist direction, one where she user her uniquely large frame and strength to protect and shield.
Firewoman:
Grunkt:
John of Alarkand:
Kalaii Hanmanau:
Magnacarte: The older brother of Raysh's children, Magnacarte was most attracted to Ominai and Keaton of the individuals he first met. He loved the two's quiet, kind compassion, and committed himself to becoming a white Ninja.
