King Kai smacks Mace roundly in the chest. Mace feels his power somehow... constrict. Constrain. Dragging him down, down, down. Away from the planet, away from the Serpent Road, which means he is going to... HILF. Hell.
"No! No sparring! This will be training! You need to come up with your ability then we will train it to perfection!"
The person on his left is apparently some kind of green-black frog creature. "Grrrrr.", it says back.
"Oh, dear, I'm not interested in those things!", she says, suddenly becoming substantially nicer.

"SHIIIIT!" Mace cries out, becoming a bit comical and actually making strokes as if swimming.
Jerry nods and takes off his black jacket, revealing a dark red one underneath with a dragon design running down his left arm and circling around his shoulder to look over his shoulder.
Brent pulls back a bit out of reflex and turns to his right, wondering if he should even bother. "Um...hi," he says rather meekly.
Laura raises an eyebrow at the sudden change and nods. "Alright. Yes, interdimensional jumping and teleporting are also apart of my transportation capabilities."

The strokes do nothing, and Mace lands in a pool of water. And keeps sinking.
...And?
A reddish, hairless creature to his side with a lot of wrinkles and catfish-like whiskers who somehow appears very young responds, "Hi! I'm Konnyaku."
The person behind Brent now says louder, "GRRRRrrrrr."
She now smiles with the denouement of her train of thought. "Then we'll just have to train that, won't we?"

Mace will have tried to have taken a deep breath before being sent into the water, but knowing he can only hold it for so long, he puts his wrists and arms together and prepares his body for the Grand Force Cannon. He'll aim it straight under him and fire it to go straight up and out, hopefully being able to angle the blast when he's out to land on the rim of the lake.
And nothing. Jerry's waiting for the Kai to get them going on something. But if it's obvious the guy won't say specifically what he wants them to do, he'll go looking for something to go punch, figuring weapons aren't allowed in the tournament, and start punching and kicking.
Mace smiles rather nervously at Konnyaku and waves. "I'm Brent," he says, but quickly turns around to the frog-person. "Um...I'm Brent, what's your name?"
Laura smiles happily. "What do you propose we start with?"

OOG: Out of where? You're using the GFC to propel you away from the center?
He wants YOU to come up with a technique to research within the parameters he set.
The frog eats its piece of mutton loudly.
"Hmmmmmm, I don't know, dear. Why not, oh, I don't know, fighting at constant maximum speed without stop?"

(Out of the pool of water.)
Jerry will go to an empty area he can train in. He concentrates on chops for now, still wondering about the technique he was considering. The attack required the area to have spirit particle pressure, and a means to cut through it. His zanpakuto could probably do the job just fine, but he doesn't know if it would be allowed in the tournament.
He tries to look at the spirit particles in this area, focusing to see the currents and the movement. He focuses the edge of his hand to draw spirit particles, wanting to use it like a smaller and less powerful version of the zanpakuto. Once he sees the winds, he'll strike through the two currents, wanting an accelerated slash and the effects of spirits particles concentrated into one spot, and the burst of chaos from the winds being cut through the middle.
Brent smiles a little, glad the guy didn't take his head off. He turns back to Konnyaku, smiling. "Sorry. So where did you come from?"
Laura nods and thinks of what she can do. She leaps into the air, turning on her thrusters, boosters, etc. and starts throwing out rapid kicks, punches, blocks, and various other techniques.

OOG: And when will this effect take place? In the air? When he's in the water itself? Will he fire it at a right angle so he shoots straight across the water or straight down when he's in the water so he goes up again or what?
Well, this is a spiritual area, similar to Soul Society...
Jerry finds that when he swipes through the area in the center, he is repulsed by the solidity. The spiritual particles are trying to form into objects.
Yardrat!
The East Kai shakes her head. "Not like that." Laura sees a blur of motion, then the East Kai is above her. She gets hit with a staff to the face.

He's using the GFC to fire at an angle and push him out of the water and the angle is to put him towards land, hopefully. He's firing this while in the water.
Jerry observes this. What could they be making themselves into?
"Where's that?" Brent asks.
"PFFT!" She says taking the blow and trying to regain her senses. She tries to guess the meaning of the blow and decides that she has to try and disarm the East Kai. She aims a spinning roundhouse kick at the Kai's hands, trying to kick the staff from her hands and then will try and catch the staff herself.

Luckily, waiting until he's in the water helps him avoid what would have happened had he been in the air: The massive weight would have aborted the arc and made him slam yet harder into something. Of course, pushing through the water isn't pleasant... And the energy seems to have attracted some of the denizens here. Despite being turned around and dragged to the ground, Mace can dodge the energy beam coming at his back.
Probably just dust.
"Distant planet. Goku came to our planet to learn the secret of Instant Transmission."
Laura has gotten it completely wrong. The blow has activated every part of her nanobots to pure propulsion.

Krane, Nekia, Mica and (to a lesser extent) Quion began their most intensive training under West Kai. The rumors indicate that the first three seemed to focus on a resonance attack, while Quion focused on the powers of the Void (however he acquired that sealed power). [Techniques will be PMed]. Next comes sparring for those four!

(First, is the GFC a sort of kinetic energy cannon? Or what kind of energy is used for it?) (Not sure how you'll roll this, or if you even will, but I really got into this so I typed it all up) Jerry claps the palms of his hands together and focuses on the spiritual pressure around him, feeling with his supernatural senses, opening up to the vastness of reality and concentrating. He tries to tune himself to the pressure, the winds of the spirit particles, letting their tingling presence swep across his body. He feels the disturbance his body creates, the weight his physical body has on a world. Spiritual pressure comes from how big a disturbance you make, not necessarily how well you're in tune with it, but it doesn't damage anything either. It works with the pressure in its own way, manipulating the otherwise passive material. He slowly starts going through motions, moving slowly cautiously but in a relaxed fashion. His motions follow that of the winds, gently trying to sweep the spirit dust (just my name for them) out of his way, and moving it in a controlled fashion around his body. He is attempting to work the spirit pressure into such a manipulated state as to create a concentrated whirlpool of spirit pressure. Like when you stir water in a cup, the harder and faster you turn the spoon, the more pressure and momentum the water builds up. He wants to make a vortex, a swirling, spherical mass of spirit particles. His legs join in the dance-like movement, guiding excess particles to one place or another and his hand controlling the main flow. He didn't want to try working his legs into this move quite yet, wanting to just start off with his legs and occasionally using his legs and feet to pick up some spare stuff he missed. Finally, when he has amassed enough spirit pressure and material, he swings his arms out wide, as if he were windmilling his arms to splash water at someone, and presses the sides of his thumb and the meat of his palms together, his fingers spread out. A physical manifestation of his body's ki extends from his body, the spark to ignite the spirit particles around him. The air around him will erupt into flowing flames riding on the spirit pressure, the spirit particles themselves on fire, and with their flow aimed to empty out infront of his hands, a blast of ki and ambient spiritual energy fires off. Dark orange ki drives the energy forward, the flames spiraling around the ki and the pressure spinning the ki for a drill-like, flaming, energy attack. It'll be aimed up into the air a bit, at an angle, so as to not hit anything. The attack will have the elements of heat energy, kinetic energy, and spiritual energy. The vortex was to build the speed for the kinetic part of it, the kinetic energy acting pointed, spear-like, to shatter physical resistance. Spinning with the spirit pressure, a vague image of his original zanpakto appears within the manifestation. The spirit particles to form the weapon within the blast come from the ground around him. Simple pop, pop, pops are the only sounds heard besides the roar and fury of the attack, though with a patience behind it. The ground around him explodes with his ensnaring grasp of spirit pressure and the material disintegrates into the nearby space, making the zanpakto. The flaming trails of the spirit particles swirling around his body can be seen coming to an end, a pair of tails that were guided by his two hands coming down, following his splashing motion, and out his hands. The front of the attack takes on a more draconic visage, the mouth of it opening up a bit and breaking apart the zanpakto into teeth, razor sharp and deadly. Several things can appear to the observers of this. The air thins from the intense flames, gravity is pulling towards the man in a way beyond just the physical sense, and the front of his arms are charred, revealing third degree burns. "Aah!" He cries out, collapsing over as the dragon's tail is completed, and falls on to his side, screaming at the damage to his body and the possible damage to his internal spiritual systems. The pain is unbearable, causing him to clear up into himself. His coat has all of his healing potions, and the attack possibly burnt up everything within a good twenty, possibly thirty feet. Or more! Tears roll down his face uncontrollably, the shame of such a thing not even clicking anymore. God, what has he done to himself. (Is Instant Transmission a very common thing with the CH?) "Wow!" She says, misjudging her speed and the air currents (or spiritual pressure, not sure which it is here. Both?) spinning in on herself, now thoroughly sick from the sudden increase in speed. Her chemical sensors and protein analyzers kick in and keep her from vomiting up her breakfast. "What the hell? I just..." She seems lost for words. "Alright...uh..." She blinks and looks at the Kai. "What do you want me to fight?"

Essentially, yes. Fred basically burned all of his telekinesis for a day (later decreasing intervals) and combined that low amount of force over time into a capacitor-like effect. It is then fired from the arms, which must remain rigid due to the force (it's like that feeling when you're taking off in a plane). The focus of the attack can be controlled: Fred typically fired a wide column or cone when dealing with multiple enemies, or a focused girder-like structure of pure force for individual enemies or tight clusters.
OOG: Yes, but issues of control, efficiency, amount that can be tapped, backlash effects wherein one explodes from handling too much energy, etc. DO make it so people who are in tune with their reiatsu can more safely put out more energy.
The dragon is highly potent, but does not last very long. Jerry has cleared himself out a space from within which to work, but all of the effects he's unleashed have magnified a latent tendency of this area: The random formation of objects. Various twisted strands of metal form, and at this rate, he will be trapped and maybe eventually skewered by a dome of metal! Worse, it may not be long before primitive sentience is achieved.
As the metal rises, a green-skinned grim man flies downwards, joining Jerry in the crater in the midst of the rising matter. He is clothed in a white outfit with a large, almost turban-like hat, capped off with what appears to be metal. He touches the air, feeling it spark. "Hmmmmmm. Reminds me quite a bit of when I was doing my own Thunder Flash. You'll need to add kido to it to stabilize it, use your zanpakuto's own energy and shape to control it, and will need to be judicious about which particles you pick..." His voice trails off as he notices Jerry's state.
That particular technique, no. It's fallen into disfavor among many due to the fact that one needs a ki signature (and not simply to know the location or have a good description) to leap towards and that its FTL nature is in fact fairly dubious since it ultimately relies on light particles. But Ominai's Instant Transmission is legendary because he has combined it with his other methods of supernatural motion, causing him to Instant Transmission step constantly! The team's standard teleportation is a spatio-temporal one of immense power used by Avatars. Each individual may add their own skill, but only DBZ-style fighters typically use Instant Transmission.
East Kai laughs. "Fight?! My dear, you can't even control your own motion! I'm a gentlewoman, I'll give you a small time to get oriented."
She's right. Laura is flying at thousands of FTL constantly, and in fact accelerating at a constant multiplier, and even though her planet is a bit separated from other physical and/or supernatural planets, the speed that she's going is taking her into other planets very rapidly!

Mace cries out as he keeps to the flow of the GFC's energy, but splits it to wrap around his body, holding his hands out before him like he was holding a book infront of his face, spreading the energy in/outward, around him. Several strings of various Japanese insults flow from his cracked and bleeding lips. Not at the turban-capped man, but himself, for not thinking this through more thoroughly. He rolls on to his back to get a look at the guy, but just moans in pain, holding his hands close to his chest. He can barely put out groans, let alone words. Brent blinks. "Oh, neat. So I'm guessing you use it too?" [quoteEast Kai laughs. "Fight?! My dear, you can't even control your own motion! I'm a gentlewoman, I'll give you a small time to get oriented." She's right. Laura is flying at thousands of FTL constantly, and in fact accelerating at a constant multiplier, and even though her planet is a bit separated from other physical and/or supernatural planets, the speed that she's going is taking her into other planets very rapidly! Laura tries her hardest. She angles herself into an inward circle, wanting to spin in circles for just a bit, trying to get used to manuvering on a small scale, then darting straight up, down, left right. Diagonally, circularly, backwards, and then just zig zagging. She'll keep at this while waiting for when East Kai says she's ready. Laura will utilize all her inertial dampeners to keep her muscles from splitting a part.

Mace breaks the GFC into a spherical force effect, intercepting the incoming energy blast. Luckily for Mace, he didn't put too much into the rear part of the energy and thus propel him back into the water. Unfortunately, now without any guide on his trajectory, he quickly scrapes across the ground and hits a largish mountain.
As the mountain crumbles about him, Mace can attempt to deal with the source of the incoming attack that he just deflected (or not, his choice).
The man looks back at him, seeming to become silent again. His eyes have a very hard and tough look to them.
"Yes, I do... What do you mean, 'too'?" The frog person seems increasingly agitated.
The problem with staying in a circle is that she amplifies the G forces smashing her. She nearly blacks out when she goes straight up, and is still facing an incoming planet.

With the telekinetic force field, I'm assuming he isn't really hurt or anything? He's going to inflate the forcefield around him if it's still in effect to keep the mountain from crushing him. If not, let me know and I'll change what he does if the forcefield can't be used anymore. ------------ Jerry looks up at him through blurry eyes, trying to focus on the person. "...Please..." He whispers, his head turning in various directions, trying to relax the pain that's settling into his body. He always relied on himself, never on others except when there's an obvious need for it in combat. He feels shame for the first time since he did the attack, how feeble he must look to this man.
Jerry's eyes focus now, clearly. Why is he just staring at me? Does he honestly expect me to get up on my own? Jerry feels as if he should recognize this man...Old Guard?
Pain sweeps through him and he cringes all over, his body flexing abnormally. ------ "Sorry...I didn't mean to offend you. I was referring to how Goku uses it, so I was wondering if you knew of the technique like Goku. Not in the sense that he knew it first or anything..." Brent feels incredibly uncomfortable now and shifts about in his seat. ------ Laura tries to go in a square path, cutting sharp corners to keep the pressure from building up too fast. She tries to run scenarios in her cybernetic brain on what would happen if she used her nanobots to move the force pushing against her into a spherical shell, one that flows and loops around, not pressing on her but not pushing out either. She hopes something like this can be done and if she moves in any one direction, she can control the speed better, using her own will to push on the speed.

Dude, like I mentioned, the GFC is a sudden effect. It WASN'T a telekinetic force field, or at the very least the "field" lasted for an infinitesimal period. It intercepted the incoming attack then but does not follow you around or even exist for longer than a few milliseconds. Nor did I initially know what you were talking about . The mountain, also, isn't his problem. That damage has been done, no more is coming. What is the problem is what launched the attack in the first place. OOG: Aside from allies, the Yakuza, Old Guard trainers... The man remains silent and allows Jerry to continue to struggle. OOG: The Yardrati is not the frog person. The frog person is the person that's been growling at you the whole time. Cutting sharp corners rapidly amps up the G forces, not discharging them. The nanobots can't really "grab" force since it's pressing on them as well.

(Unless you mentioned it a long while back, I don't see anything saying it is a sudden effect or any such thing. So sorry about the confusion. And when you said the building crumbled around him, I interpreted that as it actually falling on him still and he also had to deal with (or not) with what attacked him.)
Mace gets up with a spinning head, but he shakes it off quickly and looks around. What had attacked him? He casts a levitation spell and floats over the rocks so he can get a better looks around him, to see what attacked him if it's still visible. The water is obviously where he'll focus his paranormal senses and prep a spell to take all the rock and soil he just broke up and crush them into a single mass for a quick defense if necessary. The spell will compact all the mass into a dense forward shell, rounded. But only if something attacks him, he wants to look for the creature first. ---------------------- (What I meant by "never on others except when there's an obvious need for it in combat," the combat was meant to include his jobs, which were mostly assassinations and bodyguard duty. And like I said, when there's an obvious need. Basically I was refering to how he can normally take care of himself in dangerous situations. Teamwork is necessary in his line of work too, so he doesn't see that as 'reliance.' The word 'reliance,' to him, means weakness, not able to do something yourself. If he simply doesn't know something and learns it, that's not reliance, that's just learning. If he knows something but just can't do it, that's reliance. Like getting up.)
"Christ..." Jerry rolls up on to his knees and tries to partition his mind, seperate his senses from the pain, taking an observer's point of view at himself. He just tolerates the pain, that's the best he can do since he ran himself dry from the attack. He stands hunched over but looks up at the man and clenches his teeth. He looks for a clear path out of the area where the metal has begun to spring up. If there's no clear areas, he'll head for any spot where the spires have sort of layered themselves on top of eachother, making it so he doesn't have to walk on points, but the sides of the spires. ----------------------------- (...Yeah. He's asking the Yardrati, not the frog guy. Unless the frog guy has apparently overheard Brent, he was apologising to Konnyaku and asking Kon if he knew Instant Transmission. I think you may have misread.) ----------------------------- Laura tries something different. She shifts her nanobots to create smooth surfaces throughout her body, possibly increasing speed (not like she needs that anymore...) and tries to make long turns, as if going down the Autobahn and making a wide turn. She tries to shout "HEY! How do I control this!?"

On MSN (and reply #41), I made clear that it's like a capacitor: Build up a lot of lesser force that could be used throughout the day and burn it into one instant thing. Besides, it's a cannon! An energy attack! Those normally don't stay around. (Though Fred could make a permanent version...) This was one of the initial problems: You COULDN'T turn the effect into a stable barrier, only a sudden expulsion that would with its inertia intercept the attacks but would then cease to exist.
When Mace casts the levitation spell, he finds that he's not floating at all. In fact, if anything, he sinks further into the rocks (though not below the spire into the ground below).
OOG: Which still wouldn't address how the Yakuza helped cover your room, board, financial situation, etc. nor how CH is a commune nor how Soul Society is a hierarchical command structure nor how the OGM trained you, but that's a bit like saying "I'm only dependent when I am". Combat, assassination, AND theft is most of what Jerry does: If he's reliant on others during those times, he's reliant on others period. He can be chafed by this fact, recognize it hypocritically, etc., just saying.
Jerry now stands. The figure nods, looking a bit more grim. There are no clear paths: It's building pretty evenly in a circular fashion, and would just be filling up like a bathtub if it weren't for Jerry's attack.
Yes, I know all that. What YOU misread was that the frog guy, independent of Konnyaku/Brent's conversation, is getting annoyed, growling very loudly.
OOG: So smooth surfaces on the edge of her skin or what? Like making herself into a plane?

(*Shrugs* Different logic for different situations and games, I guess is all I can say)
"Eh..." He stops the spell and if that doesn't stop his descent, he tries to grab a hold of the rock around him and pull himself up. He has a feeling that the law of gravity works differently here... -------------- (Eh...tried to shape it into such a way as to not take back my words, though I guess that was a mistake and just stupid. *shrugs* I'll just take that back.)
He wants to say "Look, I can't use my powers right now, I'm a bit burnt. Can you throw me over the metal walls building up around me and keep me from getting impaled?" But he doesn't and looks out over the top of the metal wall building up (if he still can), and if there's not a good spot to land within thirty feet, he'll see what he can do about teleporting. He doubts it's possible. -------------------- Brent blinks in confusion. "What? Hey, you're being rude to me and you can work on your manners. Don't get angry at me, bub. And don't you start bullying me, either. I'm a loose cannon, damn it, a wild tiger ready to go RAWR!" Brent is standing up on his chair now, holding his hands out as if ready to claw someone, snarling 'viciously' and when he realizes what he's doing, he blinks and mumbles. "Sorry." (Gimme "Textbook Shoved Up My Ass in the Sixth Grade" for 500, Fred. Throw in "You Are The Eye of the Tiger" tapes for a self-confidence boost of +5 too .) --------------------- (Yeah, she'll smooth out any ruff parts of her body (like open datajacks sticking out, pull her back pack into a dimensional storage bin, etc) and use the nanobots, if it's still possible even though they're being used for speed, to create a sort of oval shell around her to take the G-forces instead of her and make her broader, blunt the forces a bit. Spread the kinetic energy out.)

OOG: Ummmm, in what game is an instant attack of any kind capable of being turned into an ad hoc barrier? If it is, isn't that usually a unique function not shared by all such attacks?
Cancelling the spell doesn't make the descent slower, it makes it faster. However, Mace does manage to burrow out... And above him, he sees a yellowish individual in a form-fitting armor, his face seeming to end in five large tentacles instead of hair. "I'm the big man around here!", he calls out, floating easily sixty feet in the air.
OOG: I was just making a joke. Your perception of the character is that he would feel like that. If Sarashito were around, she'd argue my point, and he'd either have a counter-argument or a change of view (or ignore her), but right now he's just around some taciturn green guy.
The green guy smiles subtly. "So you're okay with me throwing you out of here, even if it hurts when you land?"
The frog-like thing stares in dead silence, as does Konnyaku. Sweat beads on South Kai's face. Someone chews their food quietly, then stops in something resembling guilt. Then both Konnyaku and the frog thing burst out in laughter. "Number thingy funny!", the frogman yells. "Me smash him, me no hear funny things!" Konnyaku says, "Wow, what the hell?"
In her aristrocratic trill, East Kai comments, "Ah, yes, aerodynamicity, the first stage of speed. Now see if you can keep it up functionally!" Five figures leap into the air and begin to close the distance to Laura, all apparently charging energy attacks of various kinds.

(Random roleplay games. The logic is that the residue of the attack, the attack having been pulled from a 'flow' of the attack's style of energy, can still be harnessed, just not as potent. It's used in combination techniques that involve fast characters and lots of enemies.)
(And is the guy actually very large? Brutish, like the ogres from DBZ's Hell?) --------------- (Ah okay. You mostly just succeeded in making me question my logic for his personality. Though you have clarified it a bit and made me think that he has a bit of a higher-than-God mentality and takes everything around him for granted, and that he sees that even though he works with others, he sees everything that's done as his own doing.)
Jerry looks up at the guy quizzically. "Stop reading my mind. It's impolite." He seems almost sarcastically calloused or seriously perturbed by the man's rudeness. The talking helps distract him from the pain, so he keeps doing so. "So you'll only help me if there's the possibility of me breaking my neck, eh? No wonder." -------------- Brent looks around, blinking with dumbfounded fascination and just says "Uhhhh...yeah, no squishy the number-thingie..." He makes note that the frog guy remembers Brent's incorporeal form, showing that the frog man has at least some memory capabilities within his seemingly primitive brain (no offense intended with the thought, and the thought is shielded incase there's a telepath or something amongst them) and that if he was still in that form, he'd probably look really creepy doing that. Even with the voice of a 1970's computer geek from Revenge of the Nerds, he'd still glow evilly and manifest the shape of a tiger... He pushes the thought to the side and sits down, blushing a bit with a meek smile. ------------- Laura mutters "Crap," and tries to put herself into a spin, so that the energy attacks will deflect off her metallic surfaces, hopefully catching the energy attacks at angles and sending them this way and that.

OOG: No, more average sized, but built like a soldier.
We all do it to some extent.
"I didn't say that, did I? It's just the only type of help you'll accept."
South Kai nods, glad that the moment has passed. Konnyaku says, "So, what were you asking me?"
This works mahvelously indeed. "Screaming Red", "Bone Cannon", "Colors of Doom", "Bad Fish Rot" and "Bleem Bleem" are deflected by Laura's sheer speed.
