Everyone who is not James has at least a few people left behind in Phases I or II, where the Stormguard are individually engaging people. Anyone who is still fending off the Hunters or a Stormguard must play here until they are up to Phase III. However, you should simultaneously at least tentatively plan your moves for Phase III in that thread too.
Evan: Your turn order goes like this.
Stormguard Wyatt Jess Jack Evan Ominai Demon Stormguard (Bleeder Chain)

And seeing how Wyatt is fighting the demon, He'll using the sealing crystalls on the demon and if they work he'll try a power of one vanquishing spell.
Jessica will blood magnet the stomrguard with her bleeder chain and attempt to get into a possition to disarm the stormguard and reclaim her chain.
Jack will again attack the space ship aimming for the cockpit.
Evan will use his blinding speed kata and attempt to use the scorpion tail technquie to strike Ominai.

The Stormguard goes first. He begins chanting, his armor creating sounds to augment the spell-casting. Suddenly, a simply massive stone man rises up and launches a giant spire at Jess. The vehicle he is in is now a pyramid-shaped device that creates a magic-magnetic field, sucking Jess' magically attuned body into the spire. Jess is adhered and is criticaled by the spire. She loses her turn.
Wyatt tosses the crystals at the demon. The crystals form, but the demon creates an anti-sanctum circle. Wyatt has some more turn, but the crystals have failed.
Jack misses the ship, but he has more turn as well.
Ominai Zanzokens out of the way.

Wyatt will use the anti-sanctum circle the demon has just cast to entrap the demon, with a inversal spell. *We really need to get me his sheet, making shit up for him just isn't working anymore.*
Jack will change targets and go assist Wyatt.
And when you say O is outta the way, do you mean I can change what Evan does, or do you mean O just dodged it?

8's Stormguard goes first. It launches a temporal disruption wave that makes 08's weapons fire at differential rates as well as disorient the optics and damage 8. 8 manages to be mostly insulated from it. Then the Stormguard seems to split into multiples and begins to run about, forming a tornado around 08 from their motion (indicating they have mass) while firing in with an array of weapons.
Remember: You do have some barriers.
By the time Wyatt has finished his reversal spell, the demon has kicked away the crystals and wiped out the circle. There is still some effect: The demon's right leg and side of the body cannot move. But the other side throws a simply MASSIVE black ball of flame at Wyatt.
How?
Dodged it.

Chaotic repulsor feild and combat forcefeild are active.
08 Activates Techsword, which grows large enough to hit the tornado that is circling around him, splits the techsword into two, crouches and leaps up in a whirlwind of techonological pain. Think what wolverine did to magnito`s mutant creator device, but much more damaging.

Luckily, the Chaotic Repulsor Field was the right choice, as it absorbs the barrage.
08 does indeed hit the various SGs fighting him... and they hit the sword back, pinning it with similarly large blades. The tornado stops. The tension builds, both literally and metaphorically. And then 08 breaks, losing grip of his sword and spinning around everywhere.
What do you do?

Is the sword spinning around or is 08? Assuming its 08, he uses the spinning with his gauss miniguns in order to shoot in all directions, and instead of controlling the recoil he allows it to accelerate in certain areas essentially preserving his balance while sending out loads of gauss ammo in all directions.

08, mainly, but both. I like the idea of the gauss minigun as the spin control. Unfortunately, the way it works out, he can only do this if he accepts some damage from the sudden shift in speed.

Three of the five new Stormguard are hit.
Four of the Stormguard continue to press a speedy guerilla attack, moving back and forth. Surprisingly enough, the blows don't hurt so much, "only" a Legendary blow each. Meanwhile, from behind comes an automatic critical to the leg. Your leg is pulsing and jittering. Your turn.

Rerout all leg energy to the other leg, leap into the air, drop several Turbonum gernades, use the funcioning leg to leap striaght up and fire two Nahodooms into the guy behind me, the kickback will shoot me out of the gernade range. Followed up by a judo roll.

|
|
Post by Frederic Bourgault-Christie on Dec 7, 2005 0:54:33 GMT -5
You get a simply massive, almost Dragoon-esque leap, despite only using one leg, and your nanobots begin recuperating the other leg. The grenades detonate and two of the Stormguards disappear as puffs of smoke. The Nahodooms connect with one of the Stormguard and throw it far back. Unfortunately, thanks to some anomalous effect, the kickback doesn't actually throw you out of range, and you are hit by Turbonium shrapnel. Suddenly, that shrapnel begins oscillating dimensionally, disappearing completely but damaging the chest plate substantially.

Mental Note: do not drop turbonum gernades when youre not totally in controll of your wepons.
Since theres probably a fair distance between 08 and the stormguards, 08 turns around and starts plugging them in the face with his variable energy cannon (its kinda like a sniper rifle) until they get close enough to return fire.

A great demon is confronting Wyatt as his friends clash with the Stormguard and the converted Ominai to preserve their lives. Suddenly, Jack, in a moment of freedom, rockets down to the demon and slips a blade into its back. The demon shatters his arm with an elbow drop. Jack stands for a moment, cursing and noticing that he only made a peripheral wound. His arm turns into a jutting spear and he shoves it into the demon's back. And Jack, having altered his every Affinity for to become The Things That Should Not Be, begins to pump his essence directly into the demon.
The demon calls out, time seeming to slow its inexorable passage for his voice, "Wyatt Halliwell! Would you seek a battle with me with your friends stabbing me from behind?"
Wyatt is surprised that his adversary is even deigning to speak with him. Wyatt replies, haughtily, "I wouldn't seek to battle you in the first place! You are but a barrier blocking the true task at hand, sent as a disposable minion!" Up in the stands above, Leo and Piper shake their head.
The demon sputters angrily, "I wasn't sent at all! I am not an agent of these toy soldiers or that insane failure of a beast! I am here of my own volition! But their stresses are magnifying your true power."
"On your own accord in hopes to gain power with the new Source, or are you looking to somehow to take the throne yourself?"
"Must you continue to insult me?! Were that position not filled, I would destroy whoever arose! Or serve them were they worthy! I am a protrusion of a force greater than evil into this reality. I need not such a being."
"Why should I allow you to call me out in such a manner if you yourself claim to be a force greater then anything this reality has ever known? Why should it not be everyones responsiblity to preserve this world?"
"That is not my intent, design or project! I am what I am. Destroying you is what I desire! You are the challenge that keeps me balanced!"
"If you so desire such things, then why ask me to fight you alone, I harbour no ill will towards you, and my friends do not wish me harmed....why should I ask them to stand aside and force them to watch me put myself in way of risk, when they can make all that avoidable? "Why should I ask them to burden anguish to appease you? And it is odd how an enemy of mine would concern themselves in the ways of weakening myself...."
"If you fail, then the imbalance becomes worse! Gideon made that mistake. Only by forcing something, root and stem, to its full height and size can you then destroy it completely!"
"If I fail? You speak as if we were fundamental titans clashing, foundations to be built upon..."
"And are we not? Are you not reaching for the rank of legend and story?"
"No, I don't believe so. And no, I'm not. I toil not for my own 'Personal Gain' but for those who cannot toil for themselves." Wyatt's recalling of the word 'personal gain' indicates a doctrine hammered into his young mind for decades.
"But your gain is the gain of all things! Only if you juxtapose yourself as opposed to the world... But you are speaking of trifles. If you can defeat me, the greater good you think of will be served."
"I seek not to destroy you, I seek to ask your help, and a favor: Put this duel off to a later time. Help us stop what is happening here."
The demon considers. "Why would I do that?"
"Because I will give you a favor in return."
The demon yells, almost triumphantly, "Only here will you be at your greatest form! I can see no favor you have that I want!"
Wyatt promises, "I will duel with you, after the wish ceremony."
The demon demands, "What will make you excel then?! Power is a trifle! It is will!"
Wyatt smiles, a hint of mischief in his eyes. "And what stops me from dropping my sword now and surrendering. Then, now...it will all be the same in the end will it not?"
The demon says, "Now if you do so the world will end. You and I both know you would not do that."
Wyatt exposits, "We do? My father was a pacifist, what makes you so sure I won't follow in his foot steps?"
The demon rebuts, "Because your father's violent exploits are also quite well-known."
"Yes, but you said it yourself, I am at the pinnacle of my power now. Who's to say I have the will to let you defeat me?"
The demon smiles, well, devilishly. "Then perhaps I should raise the ante. Your friends might need to suffer."
Wyatt smiles in return and replies, "You see it fit to make innocents suffer, to test how righteous my resolve is to resist combat with you any longer? A truely sad bargaining chip. You'd seek to do combat with me while stabbing MY friends in the back?"
"Until you faced your destiny! It would be your refusal that would condemn them!"
"Then I condemn them. And I see no dishonor in allowing my friends to defend themselves in such a matter."
"You refuse to fight?"
Wyatt takes a deep breath, knowing full well this explanation of his principles might doom his companions. "Yes, I refuse to fight you. But I will assist my friends in defending themselves, just as they'd refuse to not assist me. I can't allow my friends to set aside there love and dedication to eachother and myself simply because I ask them. I refuse to ask them to suffer such a thing. Not from you or anyone else. And so this so my answer. Because of my love, and respect for my team, Yes, I will allow him to stab you in the back. I will not force them to suffer anything because of something I choose to do."
The demon is silent for a second. "I will consider delaying this battle. But I cannot be confident that the next time we meet it will be worth my time."
Wyatt graciously says, "I thank you...have you considered helping us resolve this matter with the Beast?"
The demon explains, "Your destiny must be reached! I do not want them to win, but if this is the only option I have..."
Wyatt replies, "Then you will help!"
The demon growls, "Bind your word of honor! Prove to me you can use all of your power, prove that next time we battle it will be one for the ages and legends!"
Wyatt nods solemnly and oh-so-quickly casts such a momentous spell, a spell that promises the demon that when he is ready next the demon may attack him and he is bound by magic and honor to respond with his full power.
The demon turns around, and for a brief moment, the veil of reality is pulled back and a being extending far into the netherealms, fists and fangs filling the sky as a phantasmal horror, can be seen, this disturbance centering around the demon. The demon throws a condensed sphere of a flame not seen since the universe was young and fresh, and the Stormguard's vehicles are damaged grievously. They leap back, and begin crackling, and...
Evan is caught up to the Stormguard! That puts 9 characters and one new NPC ally at the end.

Strange, all 08 sees is two Stormguards. Does he still want to fire at them? Well I didnt really know how many stormgards there were in the first place but I`m assuming two is less then there were a couple seconds ago. 08 fires HBHs not at the two stormguards but in the area around them, and where the stormguards were bifore 08 kickbacked away.

One of the volleys misses its Stormguard completely. Not only that, the gravitic properties are doubled and redirected, as well as a conically expanding concurrent distortion rocketing at 08. Luckily, 08 has a full turn left as well as 100% of a turn worth of parry time. The other Stormguard is hit directly but stands up and begins firing automatic energy fire as a counter-attack.

08 moves so that the black hole is inbetween him and the SG who is firing energy cannon (whatever he manages to unload gets sucked into the HBH). 08 then redirects all wepons energy to his eternium armor (eternium being exempt from TS is good vs. HBH) the stasis effect of the armor should extend beyond 08 and combat the disruption caused by the HBH. 08 then parrys.

The lasers do indeed miss, and in fact the energy firing out the event horizon re-energizes 08. The gravitic effect and HBHs do minimal damage, especially when the HBHs go through the chaos barrier, which is miraculously still standing.
The parry would be your eternium effect and the HBH effect, so actually, you did the parry and now you have a full turn. You have found the remaining Stormguard, who had put up a cloaking field and was doing those sniper shots... and now he doesn't know you found him.

08 Begins firing gatlen ammo where the hidden SG should have been isntead of where it is, and charges toward that location. In doing so he will pass the hidden SG, but when he gets close to the hidden SG, 08 manifests his TDE Techsword and `accidentally` moves it in such a way that it would cut the hidden SG in half. The SG will in all likely hood be supprised, and assuming it doges it wouldnt be prepared for a followup Electron wave.

Rocket-propelled nuclear tip bullets wreak a holocaust where the Stormguard should have been. 08 strafes along, finally coming by the hidden Stormguard, and begins pretending not to slash. The blade scrapes along solid barrier, devastating it. The electron wave fires... and a wispy emanation that indicates a fake was just destroyed fills the air.
Suddenly, a thick, black mist erupts. The Stormguard appears to be floating in the air above 08, yet sounds from him (slight as they may be) are coming from three directions. A combined sensor array indicates this to be a paradox. The Shadow Veil has fallen over the land. And 08 is struck directly in the back by an exploding tri-stage bullet. Again, major systems damage erupts. The Winds of Change continue to repair him, and now Tip the Scales II hits, meaning his automatic regeneration nanobots almost immediately seal the wound, but the blows were terrible. Then the remaining Phantom Stormguard (as 08 now knows they are) rushes up behind 08, trying to go for the kill with a planted bomb... and faces 08's counter-attack wrath, blasting it into pieces as well. However, now from every direction the shambling dead come, obscured and magnified by the mystic fog...
(08's turn proper.)

As Amdalus' portal shrinks, a last array of allies leaps through. First, Tina Petros, also known as Crystal Mix, carrying her pistol Jesse. "Dammit, Milky, even when I break up with you you still can't keep me out of trouble!" Jesse fires and fires, hassling the Stormguard.
Next, four Rangers, huddled under the weight of their new armor and equipment, leap in. They are Brunnengus' Ranger companions who were stationed around Agua: The Jorochim Beastmaster Kalaii Hanmanau, the Kittani Monk Bahk, the Ork Fighter Grunkt (the Liberator of Hnum-II), and Zee the Chahabahko Healer, all minor legends in their fields, leap in battle. Grunkt, his armor of metal ribbons shielding his companions, calls out, "Brunnengus! We gladly join you in death to save the world!" Leaping in and engaging the varied monster squads at the mysterious figures' disposal, they help hold them down, the Mimic Ghost Thief Kalaii captured at their head.
Luckily, three substantially more powerful warriors join: Beau, the Forest Tribe Archer with the fabled Hawkeye Medallion (a basic but uninspired soul who once chose the anonym 'String'); X-Rog, a calm and relaxed Troglodyte Warrior with an incredible berserker rage; and Ganba Marlin the IV. X-Rog calls out, "From my debt to yours, Brun-en-en-guss. You saved my people and I'll save yours!" Ganba shrugs and says, "Man, I don't even know why I'm here. I guess it's because you helped my bottomline." Beau silently begins to snipe.

These shambeling dead, theyre on my team? If not I still have a fat TDE Techsword in my hand...
Also these dudes who just jumped in, are they freindly?
08 also starts crunching the numbers on WTF made his HBH turn around and who shot him in the back, since the remaining SGs are not real.
|
|
|
Post by Frederic Bourgault-Christie on Dec 29, 2005 13:35:28 GMT -5
You don't know if the dead are on your team, but you'd imagine not. However, you're finding it both hard to know precisely where they are, how many there are, etc. and whether you could damage them. The Techsword is made out of practically any material, but that may be a debit rather than a merit against particular types of undead. And in the center of this mist, sound, direction, sight, smell, even touch are distorted.
The people who jumped in are a little later than 08, but yes, they are friendly.
08 has determined two things. The Stormguard initially created pseudo-real holograms, with the ability to use some equipment and have abilities channeled through them, but with somewhat less health. (Think the Templar's Hallucination). 08 feels it might be strategic to emulate this using his own electromagnetic control, creating dolls of himself. These new Stormguard are in fact illusions of illusions, a distortion of the semi-real hologram into different spaces. This technique is the Mist of the Shadow Veil, taken from the Veneficium Secutor. Xeno calls out, "Trust your instincts! Your senses will delude you, as all facts around you are distorted. Undistort them in your mind and go by what you know is real!"
Taking that advice to "heart", 08 locates the real Stormguard, though the shambling dead may be a bit much for him at the moment.
He has more turn.
|
|
|
Post by laughingman on Dec 31, 2005 10:05:24 GMT -5
What is the nature of these holograms? Are they magic, technological, psi? If technological, how do they work? Electromagnatism?
Assuming they work by electromagnatism, 08 uses his EMP, scrambeling the shit out of `em. He then uses the same EM feild that allowed the phantoms to exist, runs it through the processor, re-programs it, and EMPs it out again. The difference being that it creates a pseudo real, normal reality that should work against the Dark viel stuff.
Considering there is probably a suitably large distance (and a suitably large amound of undead) inbetween 08 and the SG, 08 re-routs most of his wepons energy to the healing nanobots, and uses his virtical firing graviton smasher missles over the undead and at the SG. And puts a bit of distance between him and the deaduns.
