Quests to make people into gods! Ideas here (tell me what you'd like and I'll run with it):
*Defeating other gods and gaining their folios *Finding wish-granting artifacts of sufficient power *Finding ancient gods split up into composite parts, similar to Osiris (but NOT Osiris) *Becoming a Sinistral *Going through a Transgressive or Cosmic ritual
Etc.

What's a Sinistral? Also, my response to where we left off with the Archaeologist:
Mace smiles. "Are you wanting to come with us? You're more than welcome too. But if you're asking about getting the remnants for a museum or other such thing, I'm sorry to say that we need the remnants to defeat itek. I'm sure you know who she is. And if you're willing to help us find the remnants, I promise that once we get our latest starship commissioned, I'll dedicate it to one of your larger archaeological digs, anywhere you want before we send it to the Undersea for battle. Sound like a deal? Also, we'll let you study the remnants before we take them into custody." Mace thought for a moment. "Also, would you consider joining the CH? It would give you a better chance to study the remnants and you'd have even more funds than you probably have now to do research. I think you'd benefit the CH greatly."

Sinistrals are beings of pure negative energy from the Lufia universe, called super-beings or god-beings and with powers and folios rivalling conventional gods, but instead feeding on destruction and negative energy.
We had continued, though nice convincing here, and now you and the Janissaries were overlooking the temple from the ridge above the basin the temple is nestled in.

We'll procceed to go down towards the temple (I thought we were already inside), the six jannissaries making a pentagon around Mace and Mento, and one Jannissary walking behind Mento, to protect her. Mace will cast reflect on Mento if she'll allow it, and create a node barrier, using the five jannissaries as nodes, or central points to keeping the barrier together, balancing out the energies. The barrier should veil their presence from those watching magically and with the naked eye.

Fred, would it be possible to have Hack et al as my horsemen, given he wants to become the horsemen anyways?
And also, can I have Shae become a gnarly fire god by going through a ritual of some sort?

Mento had gone to speak with the guards. Will Mace try to listen in or observe at all?

Sinistral of what? And best place to begin is to go to the Sinistral world.
____________________________________________________________________
So do that here? And what, become a god of war, take some of the power of the Horsemen, etc.? The Source did name new Horsemen, there might be something that gives one the power of one of them.
____________________________________________________________________
Possibly, but Apocalypse was ranked above his Horsemen. Hack is an equal to Shae in power and prestige.
Shae already IS a gnarly tech/fire god. God of the Forge.

What can you be Sinistrel of? Blood or something?
Zenexoria'll head to the world, then.

Mace will go listen in and keep formation with the group. He idly wonders what will happen once he spiritually grafts Kalayberos' penis on to his soul...(Don't ask, guys. : P )

Well, then, fuck that plan.
Can I have Shae go fight some gods of fire to become an even better Forge God? Can I kill Hephaestus?

The main Sinistrals were: Gades of Destruction, Amon of Chaos, Erim of Death and Daos of Terror. Similar concepts could be Tyranny, Corruption, Decay...
Lightning strikes around the many floating continents that make up this part of the Realm of the Sinistrals. Perhaps five miles to the north is the incomprehensibly massive Grand Palace of Arek, Lord of Sinistrals. Streaking through the air at high speeds, Sinistrals make their foul presence known as they traverse.

So he gets close to listen in, or just focuses his hearing?

In AIM, we decided to go for metal instead. Shae doesn't know where to begin, but maybe turning her into a god of metal could be done by the team's own rituals.

Decay sounds invigorating.
Zenexoria will head towads the palace, while trying to avoid traversing Sinistrels.

He'll get close.
By the way, even though this is for Gods, could Laura possibly challenge a sort of Hero, like in Greek mythology, to gain their title and strength? Laura would fight a legendary Demon Slayer. I think this would be a little lower than fighting a god for their folios, and would constitue maybe a contest to see who can kill the most demons in a hell dimension or something? Fight or contest, doesn't matter to me.

Arek's palace in particular?
"....need to preserve the integrity of the dig." "Look. Tell Mitchell that Renn-Mitte authorities get first run at the sites, and that I don't want to have to go to the Confederacy." Silence follows.
How does fighting another legendary hunter get you anything? Some kind of Merit or what not?
Well, the Source didn't do the normal ones, but... You may be able to get the combined Horseman energy from the fusion of the four Rifts Horsemen or emulate it somehow.

the fusion of the four rifts horsemen, sounds fun, so how are we going to start

Good question, how are you going to start?

Post by Mace Parshath on Feb 27, 2007 22:42:46 GMT -5
Gaining their folio for their legendary status. Like how you put defeating a god will gain you their folio, I'm thinking that at a smaller scale, with fighting just a hero instead of a god.
|
|
|
Post by Frederic Bourgault-Christie on Feb 28, 2007 1:09:47 GMT -5
It's not scale-invariant. Gods' folios is different from heroic accomplishments.

Ah, I see. Well, Laura is going after this demon slayer folio by fighting a colossi, so, I guess we're done here.

And Brent and Jerry have no interest?
|
|
|
Post by Mace Parshath on Feb 28, 2007 19:26:54 GMT -5
Jerry's not after power and Brent isn't like Mace, he's sort of anti-Mace. He doesn't like to pursue power he just like to help people.

Post by Vincent Hack on Mar 2, 2007 1:16:24 GMT -5
Good question, how are you going to start? well i could do one of two things first option, kill the horsemen take their power, second do a service for the horsemen, be granted their power, knowing yo both would be the same difficulty
|
|
|
Post by Frederic Bourgault-Christie on Mar 6, 2007 21:50:36 GMT -5
And of course, being a god of wisdom or compassion or healing couldn't help anyone. And why wouldn't a Yakuza be after... mystic power?
Well, not really. Killing the Horsemen is likely impossible to do permanently. And doing a service would be really, really bad at this point in time.
|
|
|
Post by Mace Parshath on Mar 6, 2007 23:42:13 GMT -5
Jerry wants to achieve that on his own. I'll probably go for spirit cuffs, but he's not going to just take the power. Brent just isn't the type to outright challenge people for power, but I guess he could benefit from taking a God of healing, though fighting something dedicating to health and helping others just seems mean. O.o;
Jerry could go after a godly dragon, or something, given the tattoos he has, and being Yakuza. Or do a cosmic ritual.

Beating a god is only one way to get a folio: Wishes, shrines, acquring worshippers, rituals, rewards from the gods themselves (primarily All-Fathers and powerful spirits), etc. all count.
Yes, godly dragon, etc. would be fine.

|
Post by Mace Parshath on Mar 8, 2007 20:10:45 GMT -5
I think Brent will go for a wish and Jerry a shrine. What are some known items that have enough power for such?
|
|
|
Post by Frederic Bourgault-Christie on Mar 8, 2007 20:14:39 GMT -5
For the wish sufficient to grant a portfolio, there is a shrine that channels into the energy source that creates and imbues gods. [FN: 252].
For the shrine, nothing. [FN: 6].

Good question, how are you going to start? yes it is, perhaps there's a shrine somewhere, or an artifact, or possibly even a ritual. more research must be done on the subject
