ADMIN NOTE: I am not posting this in my capacity as an administrator. This is not administrator business. I am posting this just for archival purposes.
So, at the Double Dragon 2, I posted this recently. It was obviously deleted. My position at the moment is simple: We need an image board with competent administrators.
Admin: I don't know who you are, if you're Blue or Mario or Anthony or what not. This isn't about who you are, it's about basic courtesy.
Let's recount what happened. Someone posted, in the “Tabletop Games” section, about input for their Tabletop Game. (This is after that person tried to start a thread about their game and the post was unceremoniously deleted). They had a discussion with another person about that, a discussion that may have been a bit sarcastic but was explanatory. Afterwards, someone else, a person who was NOT identifying themselves as one of the PLAYERS of that game or privy to the discussion, said to the OP, “Nigga You Just Went Full Retard”. The OP responded, with NO racial or ableist slurs but perhaps a bit harshly.
It was the OP who was banned.
Let's be fucking clear here. This is a board of close acquaintances and friends. I know the vast majority of people posting here and am only a few degrees removed from the rest. Thus, this is a gross show of personal disrespect to me, and by extension to all those who are part of this social network.
Moreover, the Admin, whoever they were, did not decide to be a professional. They did not message me privately and say that, “Hey, dude, I think you were a bit harsh, mind reposting more cordially? Let cooler heads prevail?” They didn't even just say, “USER BANNED” or “USER BANNED FOR [INSERT REASON]”. No, the admin engaged in a personal attack, indicating that they were very likely one of the posters by using the same language.
So, here's a hint: Learn how to fucking run your site. Because this isn't 4Chan, you dipshit twits. Everyone here knows everyone else, and you could start a firestorm of shit if you're not careful.
If you're an admin, A) stay the FUCK out of administrating threads you are part of unless it is a last resort and b) have any consistency, you favoritist clique-ish fucks. This is not even close to the first time there has been inconsistency in terms of the way that behavior is tolerated. Here's a corollary of B: If you allow people to say the N-word and call other people the R-word, then you better fucking expect that your board is going to devolve real fast. Don't dare ban ANYONE for anything besides bona fide criminal behavior otherwise.
FRED OUT
P.S. Here's the banned message I have:
You have been banned from posting on All boards for the following reason:
For being a faggot
Your ban was placed on August 3, 2012, 07:55 pm PDT, and will not expire
Your IP address is 108.202.210.189.
Let's discuss that, 'cause it deserves comment. I get the whole posturing in public thing. Really, I do. People are so insecure they think they look better or smarter or tougher when they act like assholes. But this isn't that. This is a personal, one-on-one, insult. No one is watching. It's just a feeble attempt to twist the knife.
It's grotesquely unprofessional. Responsible admins don't do this to strangers. I'm not a stranger.
Remember that.
P.P.S. Because it was an IP ban and not a name ban, Big Jess and anyone else at my house can't post. That's even more inexcusable.
