So, we're getting this new Rifts campaign underway finally. For balance concerns, I'll have to sit down with everyone individually. We will at some point get everyone's sheet worked out, and I intend to e-mail and PM everyone relevant information to get them started.
This will also list house rules I develop over time. I try to run Rifts as cinematically as possible, and improve the system somewhat. So, here you go!
Attribute Bonuses:
Given that Rifts is basically 1st edition D&D with some different attribute names and a Speed attribute, it is very easy to make it like 3rd Edition. So, this is how it works. Every 3 points in an attribute contribute to a bonus to relevant stats and checks. These are:
1-3 - -3 4-6 - -2 7-9 - -1 10 – 12 – 0 13 – 15 – +1 16-18 - +2 19-21 - +3 22-24 - +4 25-27 - +5
This number is the same for D20 checks and for D100 percentile skill checks. This is because even a +1 in Rifts is so important.
I will make D20-based checks for everything from I.Q. to Spd on occasion, with these bonuses being the bonuses compared versus the DC.
Similarly, all Skills will have a dominant attribute, whether M.A., M.E., P.S. or what not, that you apply bonuses from your attributes to.
This does NOT eclipse or replace the normal bonuses for extraordinary attributes, it adds onto those bonuses. This is designed to make attributes important across the entire game.
