Yellow spears are shot into the creature. Oddly enough, despite being a fear weapon used against a Hollow, it seems to be quite effective!
Unfortunately, Kevin finds it very difficult to move. It held onto him through the cero, unharmed by its own spiritual pressure. It begins to crush Kevin between its hands.

ah it's still holding me, I thought it blasted me out of it's hands. I'm going to make a yellow Hammer and a Yellow Chisel and try to use them to break his mask, before it crushes me.

The chisel and hammer seem to not work this time, oddly enough. The Juggernaut grows. It brings its hands up and headbutts you. Your organs feel ruptured and you are rapidly going unconscious.
Suddenly, you feel fine. The dome remains.
Fred says, "My First Path of Fear". He continues, "Fear of fear itself is still fear. The problem with courage is that it can be caused by repressing fear. But that gives fear power. Accepting fear is the path to true courage."

"Then we shall continue. The next Path of Fear is the Golden Mean." An image of Guy Gardner begins to shimmer into being...

I'll prepare myself ready to dodge any attack Gardener will throw.

Gardner bellows, "Goddamn pussy!" He creates a massive set of interlinking spheres, then fires them at incredible velocities at you.

I'll make a tube to redirect the attack at Gardener.

Gardner laughs. The ball gets perilously close... then he creates a baseball bat and slams it and the tube into Kevin. Kevin's barrier gets smashed down badly, and Gardner charges in with the bat.

When he's point blank I'm going to spike him in the chest "Then say maybe you should have payed more attention to Kilowog, Poozer." The smash him with a big green fist.

The spike slams into Guy's signature skin-tight barrier, a side effect of the tremendous will of his that makes the ring crackle and spark. Kevin hits him with a green fist right as Guy slams him in the side of the head with a baseball bat.
Guy then discharges point-blank blasts, as he did against Doomsday, into Kevin. Kevin is hammered back... into a drilling, barrier-piercing spike that is about to get into Kevin's spine.
Kevin briefly sees behind him... Hal Jordan?! It's odd, though, the ring does not seem to be standard issue, nor does his uniform...

thinking 'fuck fuck fuck. If Hal attacks me too I don't stand a chance.' I'll fly to the side and buff up my barrier and wait to see what happens.

Flying to the side causes the barrier to be ripped apart as Hal thrusts in with the drill. Kevin spends his turn recreating the barrier. Oddly enough, though, the Hal below is not nearly as skilled as Kevin would imagine. He also seems far... angrier, more resentful. Then it hits Kevin: This is the Hal Jordan from Earth-30, the one who was created to defeat the Red Son! That explains the artificial nature of his ring (it's powered by only one Lantern and is a Lex Luthor-created replica).
That Hal creates a sphere with a single point of entry that is soon closed when Guy comes in. Guy creates spiked football pads and slams over and over into Kevin, each time firing one of his trademark concussive blasts.

I'll try and overcharge the barrier and break out.

How will you overcharge it? Bust through at one spot, make your own barrier extend into it...?

|
|
Post by Scott Pilgrim on Mar 18, 2009 19:14:05 GMT -5
Make my own barrier in the one spot and spread it outward.
|
|
|
Post by Frederic Bourgault-Christie on Mar 18, 2009 21:58:28 GMT -5
As you spread outwards, Guy creates a driving stake and starts slamming it into your expanding barrier. Hal hurls the sphere down so it discharges into you, shaking you badly.

New plan, make a barrier around myself with everything I've got in an attempt to absorb their attacks.

You redouble your efforts, pumping everything into defending yourself. As they continue their attack, Fred's voice reverberates throughout the room. "The Green Lanterns CLAIM their power is derived from courage. But this Hal Jordan is gripped by hate and anger. His ability to visualize came from years in a gulag. Similarly, Guy Gardner had brain damage when he first acquired his ring. He had developed a reckless, out-of-control personality. Yet he was so potent with the ring that it actively sparked as he wore it! No, their definition of courage is not the standard one. They mean willpower. And an excess of will leads to recklessness, aggression, violence.
Aristotle taught us that there are golden means in nature and in life. Somewhere between recklessness and fear, lies courage: Neither being so lacking in fear as to be stupid or endanger others or hyper-aggressive, nor being so possessed of fear that one cannot act. Courage is made from fear. If you believe this, no Yellow Lantern will ever be able to defeat you. And your mastery of the Yellow Lantern will eclipse all."

I'll over charge my barrier and expand it outward to break Hal's barrier, then make Yellow constructs of Guy's father to attack him and a yellow construct of the plane that Hal's dad died in crashing several feet away. It's time to play on their greatest fears.

Kevin finally manages to break through the barrier.
Hal laughs and says, "You think you can torture me more than Superman?!" He fires a blast into Kevin's eye. Kevin's forcefield takes enough out of it so Kevin's eye isn't ruptured, but it closes up and he takes a nasty blow to the head. His ears are ringing, he tasted blood and he knows that another hit like that will knock him out. Guy is notably more shaken, but he then laughs and says, "You couldn't have given me a better target!" He creates an ax and starts charging in to the image of his father, "HERE'S JOHNNY!"
Fred's voice echoes again. "Against enemies with an excess of courage, using fear against them is using what they are most girded against. Always consider if the approach is direct force, attempting to eclipse their defenses with your offense, or rather using their strength against them. Both this Hal and Guy are so reckless, so angry, as to be easily goaded."
"My Third Path of Fear: Emotions are sources of power, but they must be held in check by our morality and our kindness. You must consider, at every turn, if using fear to win a battle is right. Otherwise, you turn into this man."
Sinestro appears alongside the remaining three. Cackling, he creates a drama of Kevin being ripped apart by all those he has seen so far who have eclipsed his power: Szayel, Fred, Mario, the First Ronin...

And now I'm upset. I'm going to tap into my Parallax powers if I can.

You can, since this is effectively a hallucinatory stimulation.
Your Parallax powers hyper-charge you. Sinestro laughs as his ring gains in power. "My Fourth Path of Fear. A good GL gets power not just from himself, but from others. Guy when he had the Yellow Lantern ring recharged based on enemy GLs. Drawing from your enemies, your friends, your family, those you care about, the emotions they have, and the emotions they make YOU have, makes you tremendously powerful."
What will Kevin do with his Parallax powers?

I'll overcharge Sinestro's ring, give him more juice than the trinket can hold.

As Sinestro's ring increases in proportion to Kevin's own, Parallax rising up, Hal and Guy close up around Kevin, two great spinning spheres, and smash into him from either side.
"My Fifth Path of Fear. Anger, fear and willpower sometimes lead us astray. Lead us to obsession. Sometimes, true courage is to back down from a fight, or deal with something more important first rather than something we happen to be more passionate about."

Since trying to make the thing pop didn't work I'll try and siphon the power from it. Then use that power to super heat Hal and Guy, like I did to the Ronin, one at a time if I have to. "HOW MANY OF THESE BLOODY PATHS ARE THERE!?! wait, what? Bad Parallax Fred's being nice enough to teach us, you be nice enough to shut up."

Sinestro is quite good at keeping others from siphoning his power, so he holds Kevin in place, keeping each other at a standstill. Kevin knows how impressive this is: Even if it is simulated, he is holding Sinestro down!
Guy and Hal soon end it, though. Guy creates a spinning chain hammer. The tremendous weight at the end combined with the light chain in the middle allows it to do impossible amounts of damage for very little cost. His barrier is shattered. Meanwhile, Hal conjures a jet plane and slams it into Kevin. Kevin feels himself becoming skewered.
Again, the area is empty. Fred says: "My sixth, and final, Path of Fear." Suddenly Fred is standing before you in his modified Las Noches uniform. "Come at me with everything you have." (Kevin is at max HP, stamina and energy.)

I'll send green chains through the ground in an attempt to grab hold of you.

Almost as if by instinct, a gleaming white sphere surrounds Fred. It is similar to your Green Lantern barrier, but as your chains strike it, they are repeatedly repelled. It seems that the White Sun is especially powerful against energy forms, such as the Green Lantern.
Great wings of crackling lightning and booming thunder appear from Fred's back. They are tinged with white energy. With the ease of mastery, they smash into your chains. The mystic power and the chaos of the Chaos Phoenix that burns through all order shatters your chains.
Fred holds out a palm. Yellow energy streaks towards him, and Kevin feels the power of Parallax and his Yellow Lantern declining. Fred holds his finger out as if emulating a pistol. "Spirit Gun", he says casually. The casual burst of energy, amplified by the Yellow Lantern power, smashes into Kevin's barrier. His Variable Energy Blasts find the exact frequency of energy to do optimal damage to the barrier. Worse, Kevin sees that the gun is in fact a shaped charge, made up of many layered shells. Fred's Magi energy and his Angel Light energy exert their dominance over the mundane and shatter Kevin's barrier. The remaining demon, spirit, Hollow, Shinigami, Battle Ki and Naaru energy hit Kevin, throwing him back a hundred feet. Kevin feels as if he got hit by an artillery piece.
Your Parallax action, then Fred's remaining action.
