Battling Sanctuary Eight can happen here!
Sanctuary Eight appears, superficially, to be a Kin security consultant group. They've fought dictators and warlords in Africa, serial killers in America and eco-terrorists in Europe. The public loves them, and they are among the sole good faces of Kin. Their lead members are:
Pinnacle, aka Glory
Mule
Mr. Future
Hiss
Loudspeaker
Impervious
Twister
Dr. Megas
Another element is their recruiting of criminal Kin, turning them to good use. Executus, a "dark" hero, has since seemingly reformed.
Of course, it's all a sham. Seven of the head members are really the Slaughterhouse Seven, a group of Mega-Heroes from Gramercy responsible for at least one attempt at world conquest, thousands of lives lost and billions in property damage. Headed by Colonel Chaos, this group has nothing good planned ever. And it seems that, alongside Dr. Megas, they've come up with the best con yet.
Sanctuary Eight is implicitly (and explicitly, through third parties) demonizing all other Kin and creating false threats. They exaggerate the threats that they defeat, relying on mewling press sources to keep the story running. Other threats they outright fabricate. Worst of all, however, is that they actively create threats. Young Kin who happen to be "captured" by "Sanctuary Eight" are trained in enhancing their villainy.
Not to mention that "Mr. Future" (Psychotrope) murdered a futuristic visitor and took his armor.
The end game is simple: Once the world relies on Sanctuary Eight, it's easy enough to demand more rights and prerogatives. World domination is only a few lost civil liberties away.
Clearly, the team needs to stop this. Luckily, the Arcana are a real threat that Sanctuary Eight has to confront. It might be possible to kill two birds with one stone.
Mario and Black originally did the monitoring to find out about Sanctuary Eight's true plan. This means that the team has the advantage of surprise: So far, Sanctuary Eight doesn't know. The problem is that simply exposing Sanctuary Eight's plans will backfire without any evidence, making us into pariahs.
Last we left off fighting them, a group had made its way into the Carnival of Slaughter, the Fun Bunch's most recent project. Unfortunately, Sanctuary Eight is fighting right alongside us. The main goal here is to make sure they don't get all the credit and try to find some dirt on them... while simultaneously stopping a bunch of clown-based villains from murdering innocent civilians and Marines.
