Joseph will continue closer, looking inside the van.

Inside the van itself, there's evidence of water damage in the leather. The doors are locked still, and may be partially rusted shut. No one is in the cab, not even any bodies. It looks like there's fairly standard material inside: A glove compartment with registration and such, a Mag-Lite, a small survival bag, a tire iron, a jack, two spare tires... But Joe would have to get in to get a better look.

Joseph will inspect further

The cab, or the back? And how will he inspect further? He can't get in unless he manages to open up the doors.

I'll take the tire iron and try to pry open the back.

Remember: You don't HAVE the tire iron, at least from this van, because you didn't get into the van, because the doors are locked and partially rusted shut.

Ah, then I'll take the axe handle or nearby metal bits and try to pry it open

Joe manages to pry open the rust, but the door itself remains locked. He'd have to do a LOT of damage.

Meanwhile: Using Mechano-Link, Cory pops the quad temporarily on two wheels. Fred, meanwhile, floats up past the spiny things by using his gloves. The two barely avoid their quads being damaged and continue onwards. The spiny things continue to try to intercept, as do the flying heads.

You weren't out of SMG ammo yet since you had barely just gotten guns. Gimme a roll.

No, ProBoards doesn't have that kind of utility.
Your shots manage to rip apart one of the heads. Another one charges in and bites on the rails of our quad, tearing apart a good piece of it. The spiny things are charging.
