I was thinking of RPing the days before Laura actually joined the CH. Get a better idea as to her abilities and her personality. Maybe figure out some of her contacts.

Maybe, but I thought she was actually primarily their demon hunter specialist.

She was both, that thought just generally slips my mind. I focus more on her gunmanship than her demon hunting ability, since I'm not sure what can be called a 'demon hunting' skill. Ability to sense demons? Able to recognize demons in disguise? Knowledge on how to fight various kinds, like the ones with claws or ones with some magical talent, etc.?

Yes. Demon hunting covers:
*Tracking demons *Identifying hidden demons *Surpassing demonic immunities and actually damaging them *Lore of demons to use their weaknesses *Fighting demons with their curses, youki, magic, special martial arts and powers, etc.
All of which involve nanobots in many ways. Let's say a demon is vulnerable to bone. It could take a bit of your bone or synthesize bone to attack enemies.

Cool. Answers a lot of my questions. So how would a cop go about learning how to hunt demons? Become the apprentice of the current master demon hunter at the police department and work my way up?

Well, it could be (and part of the background was this) that the demon hunter preceded the cop: That is, that Laura had an idea of how to fight demons even before getting into the LAPD. However, the way you would have improved the skill is pretty standard.
*Research: Looking into demons in myth and legend as well as parapsychological studies and reports, such as those prepared by the Lazlo Society *Consulting other demon hunters *Consulting experts, like parapsychologists, ghost hunters, professors, etc. *Experimentation *Information from the government itself through their various anti-supernatural research *Field practice, combat and training
I suppose given the high concentration of supernatural activity in LA there would have been a demon hunter predecessor, but I doubt s/he was anywhere as good as you even in her/his heydey. Doesn't mean s/he doesn't have wisdom or information, just that you're better.

Hmm, I'm thinking Laura would've been a cop first, saw some things with demons that turned her morals, and then look into demon hunting. She would've talked with other cops about their experiences, looked into government/civilian information, then see about tracking down a demon or two. The demons would probably be known ones with warrants and such. Once she got used to the easy ones, it's up from there.
But if we go with her having been a demon hunter before the LAPD, would she have had to have been attacked by demons or something? Could always go with the idea that she got absorbed into some kind of demon cult, had some bad experiences, got out of it. She could have decided to just live a normal life, until she decided to help someone who was being attacked by what turns out to be a demon, which puts her into law enforcement.
