(Continuing from where we left off...)
"You know, instead of having me guess why you're spreading an aura of criticism and approval, you could've saved some time and just mentioned it...fuck, that's right. You have nothing better to do and I've got nothing better to do. Though I guess I needed some time to cool down." Mace smiles at Tyrant, as best he can, any way.
"Thanks, I guess I could use some help."

"Zat may be an understatement.", Tyrant says, wagging his finger mischievously.

(Not sure -exactly- where we left off, but I believe...)
Mace sits infront of Tyrant once again, finally done dueling with him about "EXACTLY!" when in reality that had nothing to do with anything. The poke to Tyrant's eye did nothing. He looks up at Tyrant and tilts his head this way and that. "So I need to learn to control my emotions. Would that be like, putting something infront of me to focus all my passion or what not into? I could do that." He twiddles his thumbs. "I guess I sort of need to let go of my anger towards my father. With how extreme my emotions are, I'll probably end up killing myself with how intense that is to me. Would that be a step in the right direction?

"I can't tell you. In my experience, most sentient creatures have a powerful genetic tie to zeir families. If they fight that, it causes pain."

"Well, yes, I believe that. But I grew up with Fred for twenty-one years of my life, nearly twenty-two. I only spent about five with my family. Three, if you subtract all the time I spent away on random excursions."

OOG: Since the Mnesis Codex quest preceded this and you're continuing it, you've made some peace with your father.
"My hypothesis seems to be confirmed. Your emotions are an energy source. They are as uncontrollable as lightning. Channeling... ZAT is possible."

(Ah, good point. I was wondering if I should've put that in.)
Mace looks up at Tyrant. "Think maybe the new wonder and passion for the world is to help fuel my energy? So I feel so strongly about something because the passion is my weapon, not just the energy itself? That makes sense. There are forms of magic that rely on emotions, like a war wizard uses need and passion to fuel their magic."

"Well, these aren't necessarily -my- body parts. They're Kalaybero's." Mace considers for a moment what could possibly control the emotions. He's going with his own thoughts now, not really sure what to make of Tyrant's last comment.
"Well, a lot of Illithids practice not becoming insulted by comments that are logically true. If they're going to get their heads punted by someone, and they know that's true, then they'll just nod, shrug, gurgle, whatever. I think I should concentrate on how easily things are effecting me."

"Sounds quite reasonable, but vy be offended by vat's false?"
OOG: Now that Mace has achieved Relzka training, we should note his newfound discipline.

(While still being unsure of what you mean specifically in discipline, I'll use in this post my idea of what you mean.)
Mace nods. "Yeah, exactly. Why be insulted by what you know isn't true? There isn't any substance to it, so shrug it off." He seems to be taking this to heart. "Also, look into the true meaning of why things happen. Like when I fought with the cockroach in the cantomantic-community's cliff city. I knew that it wasn't attacking because it's naturally malicious, but because it's in its nature. Though I later found out it was really being taken over by some malevolent force by the cockroach patron spirit. I think that's key to me discovering how to take on Kalaybero's body parts. The true nature of things."

OOG: ...You get trained by a Genkai-style hardass. You're not a snot-nosed brat anymore. No duh.
"Yes, sounds like another vital insight. But zat is something I am sure you knew: That you must not let yourself be deluded. So how does one see the true nature of things?"

"Hmm...by looking for the motivations and reasons behind people's actions? Like, why are you really helping me? It could be that you are genuinely bored and have some insight to lay upon me. Or, you have some horrible regret from your past and are trying to make up for it. Or, you could be manipulating me into finding out about my power to turn me over to the dark side, or something. There are many possible reasons.
"But, I think I need to look at the more primal reasoning. I think I may need to delve into anthropology a bit to find all that out."

Mace slumps a bit, really trying for once to grasp something someone is trying to help him figure out. "Well, the passion seems to have everything, the universe, as the center point of its focus. I guess I am limiting myself to thinking about people. Hmm..." He sits, trying to look for that simple answer.

Mace sighs a bit. "Aye. Sorry. Truth of things..." He stays quiet for a bit, then finally moves. "Truth of things. Finding why things happen." He doesn't seem to realize he's stating the obvious.

"Maybe we should talk to my dad. You asked me earlier about why I closed my eyes while I meditated. I did it to focus inward, but, from what I remember, Buddhists do it with their eyes open to observe the world around them, to find out why things happen. It's not limited purely to plants, water, etc. It also involves people, but they're not the main focus, as far as I know. Though you seem to know know at least a bit about the meditative style I'm talking about, so..." Mace shrugs. "Or maybe I have the entire thing all wrong, I don't know."

He nods a bit, as if saying "Meh, maybe, I don't know," and looks at Tyrant. "Maybe I have to accept it's my power now, not his."

"Why can't it be both of ours..." Mace murmers this to himself. "Maybe he's living his dream through me, to continue on and learn about the universe. I'm helping to keep his dream alive and learn about the universe." Mace considers things. "It can be both of ours. We can share."
