An ancient technique that requires a great amount of physical prowess and agility. Ribbons, once attached to bracelets or anklets on the body, can be manipulated with chakra to move to the user’s will, and depending on the user’s strength can handle the ribbon as deft as their own limbs. The higher skill level the user has, the more ribbons they can wield, as each ribbon requires a certain amount of concentration and chakra. They can be used for a variety of purposes, such as wielding a sword or other such weapons, or be used as weapons or even a shield in themselves. Additionally they can be used to propel the user in the air, to set up for flying kicks, punches, or other such uses. Up to six ribbons can be used at a time.
Stage One
Name: Ribbon Control
Requirements: Power 2, Willpower 2
Description: The basic skill requirements for anyone planning to master the art of wielding a ribbon in battle, in which the user learns to control the ribbon as they would an arm or a leg. With this technique, the user has full control over the six ribbons like limbs, and are able to strike someone with the same power behind it as if it came from their own fists.
Note: This jutsu is required for all the other jutsu in the list. Also, the level stage you are in determines how many ribbons you can control.
Stage 1 - 1 Ribbon
Stage 2 - 2 Ribbons
Stage 3 - 3 Ribbons
Stage 4 - 4 Ribbons
Stage 5 - 5 Ribbons
Stage 6 - 6 Ribbons
Stage 7 - 6 Ribbons
Name: Tsume Ribon no Jutsu (Claw Ribbon Technique)
Requirements: Control 3, Intelligence 2
Description: Focusing chakra into the ends of the ribbon, the user shapes it into a claw like shape and keeps the points surprisingly firm. In doing so they are able to use this as a very effective offensive tool to make swiping attacks at a target, or to parry and disarm sword-wielding opponents. The claw is about as strong as a normal kunai.
Name: Yaiba Ribon no Jutsu (Blade Ribbon Technique)
Requirements: Power 3, Tactics 2
Description:User focuses chakra into the ends of the ribbon to make them razor sharp, about the same consistency as steel. The ribbon cannot bend or move in any other way except like a normal steel blade. Also, when using this jutsu, only one ribbon may be affected, and the other ribbons cannot be used.
Stage Two
Name: Tate Ribon no Jutsu (Ribbon Shield Technique)
Requirements:Power 5, Control 4, Reserves 4
Description: The wielder of the ribbons charges all of their ribbons forward to a certain point before having them appear to seemingly crash against an invisible wall. In truth the ribbons are merely piled together at a specific point, typically in a circular shape in order to defend against attacks from one angle. Typically its use is against ranged attacks, as it is usually a poor defense up close. This jutsu works well against thrown projectiles, but is poor against anything else. Against projectil jutsu, it will protect only up to Stage 1.
Name: Ribon Hikinobashi no Jutsu (Ribbon Extension Technique)
Requirements: Intelligence 5, Willpower 4, Tactics 4
Description: Allows the user to extend the ribbons to significantly larger distances. Control of the ribbons as they are larger is somewhat lessened, making them less useful in certain situations, however it can make them useful long range grappling devices, or may have use in other jutsus as well. The ribbon(s) can be extended three feet.
Name: Gensou Ribon no Jutsu (Illusion Ribbon Technique)
Requirements:Power 6, Control 6, Intelligence 4
Description: Upon activation of this jutsu, those looking at the ribbons will find that the ribbons seem to leave numerous afterimages in the air itself as they move. Due to this it is much harder to accurately known where the ribbons truly are, and cunning uses of this technique can allow the user to easily penetrate strong defenses through sheer confusion. This jutsu lasts for one post.
Stage Three
Name: Ryuu Ribon no Jutsu (Dragon Ribbon Technique)
Requirements: Power 8, Control 8, Reserves 6
Description: Using three ribbons the user creates a dragon like creature beneath them, which they may stand upon. The dragon is actually quite small, approximately seven feet in length, but despite its size is capable of flying quite skillfully. This may then be used as a method of transportation if necessary, though more often it is used for quick escapes due to the drain of maintaining the ribbons for any significant period of time. This cannot be used in combat. The dragon only hovers a foot off the ground. The dragon cannot be used in conjunction with any other ribbon jutsu. The speed of the dragon is enough so that it can escape anyone.
Name: Kyuushi Ribon no Jutsu (Bow and Arrow Ribbon Technique)
Requirements: Intelligence 8, Willpower 6, Tactics 8
Description: The user ties one ribbon together in front of them to form a large bow, with a third comprising the string. Finally the last ribbon is wrapped around the string ribbon and pulls it back, creating significant tension. Once released, both the string and the pulling bow fire forwards at a high speed, capable of doing significant damage to anything caught in their path. This can be further aided with the ribbon extension technique to give it significant range.
Name: Rakkasan Okigi no Jutsu (Parachute Bow Technique)
Requirements: Power 9, Control 9, Intelligence 7
Description: The user weaves the ribbons together at their back into a very large bow. This bow is used for one sole purpose: that of catching wind to slow the users descent as they fall from a height.
Stage Four
Name: Tate no Mai (Shield Dance)
Requirements: Power 12, Control 11, Reserves 10, Intelligence 12
Description: The user allows their ribbons to spread outwards and slowly allow their body to spin clockwise while the ribbons move in the opposite direction. In doing so, incoming projectiles and some ninjutsu attacks may be deflected or lessened in strength, making this a very useful defensive technique. This dance can continue for up to three posts, with its defense being weaker in the first post, and being the strongest in the final post with the ribbons all wrapped around the users own body ensuring nothing may bypass the ribbons. The jutsu can block Stage 1 Taijutsu and Ninjutsu for the first post, Stage 2 for the second, and Stage 3 for the third. The jutsu must end after the third post.
Name: Guujin Ribon no Jutsu (Puppet Ribbon Technique)
Requirements:Intelligence 12, Willpower 11, Tactics 10, Power 12
Description: Utilizing the ribbons the user channels chakra throughout them and weaves them into the shape of a person. This person has significant strength and speed (dependant on the users skill with ribbons), and may be controlled almost like a puppet at a distance. The distance is limited to three feet. The person's strength is 1/3 of the user's Power and the speed is 1/3 of the user's Control.
Name: Ribon no Muchi (Whip of Ribbons)
Requirements:Power 14, Control 13, Reserves 11, Willpower 10
Description: Disconnecting all of their armed ribbons, the user quickly weaves them together into the shape of a long, braided whip. It can be used very much like a normal whip, but differs in that the ends will split upon striking, making it very much like a cat-o-nine-tails weapon that can cause a great deal of pain. At any moment the user can disassemble the whip and return the ribbons to their normal spot, though they must wait a post before attacking again.
Stage Five
Name: Kago Ribon no Jutsu (Ensnaring Ribbons Technique)
Requirements: Power 17, Control 16, Reserves 16, Intelligence 15; Opponent Permission
Description: Upon performing this technique, the user waits for the opponent to come close. Once they are almost within striking distance the user flicks all their ribbons towards the opponent, in which the ribbons will immediately ensnare and trap the user. Furthermore the ribbons will split into many different strands in order to bind every part of the enemy possible, to such a degree that it is impossible to move their arms or legs. This allows the user to whip their trapped opponent around however they wish, bashing them against objects, etc. The attack can, of course, miss. If the victim has a higher Strength then the user's Power, then the victim can get out. Outside forces can, however, easily destroy the ensnare technique.
Name: Rakka no Mai (Dance of the falling petals)
Requirements: Intelligence 17, Willpower 16, Tactics 16, Power 15
Description: Weaving the ribbons in an intricate pattern in the air, the user lashes the ribbons up and out, literally making the ribbons "fall" from the sky. The ribbons are violently whipping to and fro, able to cause serious gashes and bruises. The user can control how fast the ribbons "fall" and in what general direction the ribbons "fall". The user can keep this up for as long as he/she wants, but cannot use another jutsu while doing so.
Name: Go Yaiba Ribon no Ken (Sword of the five bladed Ribbons)
Requirements: Power 18, Control 17, Reserves 17, Willpower 14
Description: The user detaches all six ribbons from their body and using chakra, weaves them together to form a sword made out of all six ribbons. The blade is study and strong, however upon striking the opponent, the blade will split apart into five separate blades, each ribbon remaining flexible as well as sharp, capable of striking separate targets or even wrapping themselves around something. After striking the ribbons will reform into the single blade.
Stage Six
Name: Yuuin no Mai (Dance of Attraction)
Requirements: Power 21, Control 20, Reserves 19, Intelligence 17, Willpower 15; Opponent Permission
Description: Among the most useful of techniques for one who wishes to bend another to their will. Unlike some of the other dances available to the user, this one does in fact entail actual dancing for it to work. Moving their ribbons and their body in an almost hypnotic fashion, the user whips the ribbons forward, capturing the opponent's limbs. Then, by dancing and manipulating the ribbons, the user can cause the victim to make some general movements, as well as punch, kick, or jump at the user's will. The opponent can't go beyond 6 feet from the user. If the victim's Strength is higher then the user's Power, the victim can escape. Ninjutsu/Genjutsu from the victim cannot be used. However, outside forces can free the victim. The opponent can keep this up for as long as he/she wants, but cannot use any other jutsu.
Name: Kumo no Mai (Dance of the Spider)
Requirements:Intelligence 21, Willpower 20, Tactics 19, Power 17, Control 15
Description: Using chakra the user makes the ends of their ribbons extremely sticky. This has a number of uses, when using the ribbons to block they can stick to the weapons and pull them straight out of the opponent’s hands, or even be used to attack themselves, if hit with the sticky end it will be hard to get off without causing great pain to the opponent, because the stickiness is strong enough to rip the top layer of skin off of the enemy. Additionally this can also have uses in climbing trees or scaling a tall building, using the sticky ends of the ribbon to haul the user up. The adhesive lasts for one posts for every 5 reserves the user possesses. If the opponent has a Strength higher then the user's Power, then the opponent can prevent the stickiness from affecting him or his weapons.
Name: Kurage no Mai (Dance of the Jellyfish)
Requirements: Power 23, Control 23, Reserves 22, Willpower 16, Tactics 15
Description: A jutsu similar in design to the dance of the spider, the user channels chakra through the length of all their ribbons, causing them to become supercharged like a jellyfish’s tentacle. Anyone touched by the ribbons will suffer a sharp jolt of pain and a minor sensation of numbness from where it came into contact with the opponent’s skin. Prolonged contact with the ribbons can cause paralysis, though the enemy would have to be in continuous contact with the ribbon for over an hour to have their whole body immobilized. Due to the strain it takes to maintain the ribbon’s form, the user can only use it for one post for every 10 Reserves they have.
Stage Seven
Name: Hi no Mai (Dance Of Fire)
Requirements: Power 30, Control 27, Reserves 26, Intelligence 22, Willpower 20
Description: Forcing great amounts of chakra to accumulate at the ends of their ribbons, the user causes fire to surround the tips, capable of burning anyone it touches and as a secondary effect, the ribbons become sharp, capable of cutting into a target and with the flames, causing extensive damage. However, the most lethal effect of this dance is only seen once the user strikes an opponent, the strike setting off a medium size explosion at the point of impact. The dance may last for one post for every 8 reserves the user has.
Name: Koouri no Mai (Dance Of Ice)
Requirements: Intelligence 30, Willpower 27, Tactics 26, Power 22, Control 20
Description: Starting in a similar way to the Dance Of Fire, the user concentrates chakra to the tips of their ribbons, though for a very different purpose. Once the jutsu is completed its effects will be noticed immediately, as trails of thick ice would form wherever the ribbons move, and strangely rather than falling, remain suspended in the air. While at first the use of this appears merely cosmetic, it actually is very useful offensively and defensively, its purpose entirely in the users hands. It should be noted that the ice is very hard, and will resist being cut to a high degree, requiring many normal strikes to break. As with the Hi no Mai, this dance lasts for one post for every 8 reserves the user possesses.
Name: Moui no Mai (Dance of Fury)
Requirements: Power 32, Control 30, Reserves 28, Intelligence 24, Willpower 22
Description: Utilizing many of the techniques they’ve learned in previous jutsus, this final technique is almost like a culmination of the various skills. After completing a series of complex handseals, each ribbon will split into a multitude of the hundreds of threads that the material had been woven into. These threads are very much like razor sharp wires; and are capable of being lengthened using the ribbon extension technique, making it an incredibly destructive jutsu. Buildings and forestry can be sliced to pieces as easily as a flick of the arm.
Stage One
Name: Ribbon Control
Requirements: Power 2, Willpower 2
Description: The basic skill requirements for anyone planning to master the art of wielding a ribbon in battle, in which the user learns to control the ribbon as they would an arm or a leg.
