Style Description: The Kougetsu Houtai taijutsu is one where its main focus is the bandages that are wrapped around the user as well as kept at their side. As a sword master uses the sword the Kougetsu Houtai uses the bandages, though the users body is used as well. The style emphasizes on stamina driven defense as well as speed driven movements with and without the bandages. Following closely behind these two things is the power driven strikes of the style, this is complimented greatly by the bandages used in the style. The style itself ,to some, is a beauty to behold. The user, while attacking by normal taijutsu areas of the style could, and very well are able to work the bandages seamlessly in. This is where the styles defensive as well as offensive techniques as well as special techniques involving the bandages come into play. The bandages become the users life, they depend on the bandages to give the user the edge in a taijutsu type battle. They are only ever taken off if the user in a few instances, though most users are quite lax when it comes to wearing the bandages all the time. After all they always have backup bandages, and the users are able to wrap themselves in the bandages in no time. The style is, as one can tell thus far quite the different style from things like Gouken or suiken or even any other basic taijutsu for that matter. The Kougetsu Houtai, being the type of style it is, can be difficult to learn and to be completely effective the user must pretty much begin learning this style in the academy. Overall anyone can learn it, but it requires dedication as well as, what seems to be permission of some sort from the sand village. It is not that the style is forbidden it is just well preserved and if everyone went around using it, it would become useless.
Style Basis: Taijutsu/Ninjutsu
Training Methods: Chakra control is a must for this style so learning to maintain ones chakra in any form of medium is always necessary. Next is physical training where the user increases physical speed , power, stamina and all the other basic facets of taijutsu. The last part of training comes as the defensive part, the skin needs a rather high resistance to change due to the style of taijutsu this is. These can all be tested at once in a spar, or they can be worked on separately. The user strikes at normal human shaped targets, as well as the teachers body itself for offense, they strike rocks and thick trees as well as simply training using the bandages, which in turn causes cuts and bruises, which helps defense, and lastly the user simply practices basic chakra molding and moving the bandages.
Extra Info # 1- The bandages are no more resistant to the elements as clothing would be. One would think that the bandages would be destroyed easily, but with the chakra they are reinforced, but as I said are on the same level as your basic cloth shirt.
Extra Info # 2- The bandages in the long run are backup to the users taijutsu skills, thus the special skills are not the whole core of the style as they may seem, they are more of a helper to the taijutsu. Accordingly they are ovciously not able to be completley controlled and do whatever the user wants. Using them as the primary means of attack will work, but isn't much without the taijutsu.
Drawbacks: The drawbacks of the style can be devastating, but they can also be meaningless. It all depends on how the user uses the style. First off the bandages cut and scratch at the skin constantly, and as a reult cause cuts and can even leave permanant scarring. Secondly, the training in the style if taken too far can be dangerous. Lastly, the user is continually using chakra, thus they aren't very well suited for very long drawn out battles. Their chakra gets eaten up by the hardening of the bandages all the time. Of course all the time that the bandages are actually kept hardened. Users of this style also, for some reason or another seem to get a whole lot of crap from other taijutsu users, why it is not very much known.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Stage One:
Stat Requirements: Strength 4, Stamina 4
Stage Bonuses: 1 Strength, 1 Stamina, speed 1 (all Special Techniques given up)
Physical: At this stage the user isn’t much faster or better than other students. The users body looks normal, no real conditioning involved yet.
Bandage Rigidity: By infusing the bandages worn by the user with chakra, they can alter their hardness to help aiding them in defensive maneuvers. At this stage the bandages are only slightly harder than in their normal state, able to lessen punishment taken from an attack. they are about as hard as your basic sheet of bamboo, which really is not very strong.
Bandage Movements: The user has only begun learning how to control the bandages, and so at this stage the ability to grab and opponent with the bandages is slightly awkward, as their chakra control hasn’t progressed enough to properly wield the bandages. At this stage grabbing the opponent is the only ability possible incuding the bandages, also a strength of 4 or better is able to break free without much of fight. At this point only the arms can be used for this. The bandages can actually be controlled to a minor degree, they are able to be thrown forward, wrap the opponent, as well as harden. The bandages can be extended at only 3 feet at this point.
Regular Techniques:
Name: Ippai Sesshoku (Full Impact)
A straight punch which is mainly taught to get the user used the basics of the style. It is a simple straight punch that uses the entire arm to create more power behind the strike. This punch at genin levels is able to easily cause bloody noses while at jounin level the damage is more severe. This also uses the first level of bandage solidification to add power, as a matter of fact that is why it is more powerful that normal strikes. The strike is the absolute strongest strike possible at this stage, but it is slower than most.
Name: Ippai Benso (Full Defense)
A basic technique, well not so much a technique as much as it is it peice of information. The user learns how to look for an defend against simple strikes to the face of chest area. After they learn this, they focus on how they can stop the attack and counter attack. The actual technique part of it is that the user will attempt to grasp the fist attacking them and using that to their advantage, striking out at the now off balance opponent.
Special Techniques: none
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Stage Two:
Stat Requirements: Stamina 7, Strength 7, Control 6
Stage Bonuses: 1 Strength, 2 Stamina , 0 speed (all special Techniques given up)
Physical: The user is now beginning the early stages of growing into their taijutsu bodies. They have conditioned bodies and look like they fit the taijutsu part mostly. They still are not all that much better than others at their level though.
Bandage Rigidity: The flow of chakra remains the same as before, though at this stage the bandages are slightly harder than the base stage. The bandages at this point can take lessened damage from an attack to a slightly greater degree. At this point the bandages can harden to the consitency of glass, much like a sheet of basic glass.
Bandage movement: The movement has started to improve, allowing the bandages a bit more freedom in movement, and less awkward grabbing. With this freedom comes more responsibility on the users end, as controlling the bandages are half chakra half the users prowess, not all chakra. At this point they can be wrapped again only with the arms, and can be broken out of with a strength of 7 or above. The bandages can actually be sent outwards in front of the user and moved to basic degrees. By basic degrees, I mean the user is now able to move the bandages much like it were a chain being swung and thrown, and then when it makes contact it can wrap and harden like the previous stage. The bandages can extend to 3 feet ahead of them still, same as the previous stage.
Regular Techniques:
name: Sune Gachan (Shin Slam):
A seemingly simple strike with the shin or the ball of the leg/foot. It is considered the kicking equivalent of the Ippai Sesshoku. One of the only good kick attacks in the style, as well as one of the most basic of the style anyways. The kick is faster and more off-putting than most.
Name: Kuro Kattobasu (black knockout):
The user hardens the bandages on the hands, and with a knife edge strike to the neck or head, attempts to knock out the opponent. The rigidity of the bandages give the user the edge with the attack allowing the user a better chance to hurt the opponent more with the bandages. The original users were known for knocking unsuspecting opponents out with this attack, hence the name.
Special Techniques: none
------------------------------------------------------------------
Stage Three:
Stat Requirements: Strength 10, Stamina 10, Control 8,
Stage Bonuses: 2 Strength, 0 speed, 1 stamina (all Special Techniques given up)
Physical: The user is in quite the good shape as of now, more so than your average equal level nin at this stage, allowing the user to fit the taijutsu area even more. All together the user is actually beginning to be noticed as on par with other taijutsu users of this level and greater than basic nin of the level.
Bandage rigidity: At this point slightly more chakra is being poured into the bandages, and they are becoming harder as a result. The bandages at this stage stay able to lessen the damage taken more so now. The bandages are hardened to the consistancy of a inch thick layer of aluminum.
Bandage movement: The movement of the bandages at this stage is more increasing, allowing the bandages to do more things easier. At this stage the bandages really begin to shine when manipulated into special techniques. They are able to be wrapped around the opponent without a whole lot of difficulty now. The user is now able to begin to extend the bandages outwards and sharpen them slightly, allowing them a makeshift blunt object to strike with as well as a makeshift blade. Again the bandages can be broken when wrapped by a strength of 10 or above without much difficulty, the blunt object as well as blade is much more resistant to breakage. It can take up to 15 strength without breaking as it is almost like a real sword in construct. The bandages are much like a whip in how it can move it can move up, down, left, right, forward, back to a basic degree. the ability to wrap and harden are better than previous stages. By that I mean they simply wrap more easily, and harden harder. The bandages are able to be extended 5 feet now.
Regular Techniques:
Name: Taibu Benso (Greater Defense)
Description: The user, continuing their studies of conter attacking, is now more adept at the basic counter as from before. At this point, the user begins to grasp even more how they can parry and attack. At this stage it looks similar to the Ippai Benso though currently the user understands more, thus is able to strike out wiht more efficeincy. In previous stages the attack is grasped, and then the user sends a simple punch at the opponent, now the user is actually able to strike out with more than a simple punch, as well as at different areas than just the face. The user is able to strike the jaw, solar plexus, and the stomach. They are able to send two handed strikes, knife edge strikes, palm strikes, as well as regular punches.
Name: Heki Genkotsu (Burst Punch):
This is a very useful technique for later stages of the style, it compliments almost any single strike from the fist every time it is used. The technique itself is quite simple. The user strikes the opponent with a basic fist or hand strike, as the strike lands, the users unused hand remains in a simply chakra focus position. This position being the basic two fingers in the air, the others folded down. Focusing chakra, the user strikes, and milliseconds after the strike the bandages also shoot forward and strike the opponent with added strength.
Name: Karyuu (Swirling current)
The Karyuu is a simple technique of the style that allows the user to, like the Ippai Benso, grab and wrap the opponents limb. What is different about this is that once it is wrapped/grabbed, to user uses their body weight to send to opponent spinning in a circle around the user. The bandages are then released, thus sending the opponent flying.
Special Techniques: none.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Stage Four:
Stat Requirements: Strength 15, Stamina 15, Speed 13, control 14
Stage Bonuses: 2 Strength, 0 Stamina, 1 speed (1 Special Technique given up)
Physical: At this stage the user is officially in shape, and are on par with most taijutsu users equal to this stage. At this point the user seems to stay on par with other taijutsu users, as well as pull ahead of normal nin at this stage.
Bandage Rigidity: The bandages are now becoming more and more hardened, thus more and more effective. At this point the user is able to again harden them to a greater degree. They can be hardened to the consistency of nice cured leather, much like a weak leather armor.
Bandage movement: The Movement of the bandages at this point is starting to become impressive. Instead of looking awkward and slow as they may have previous, the user begins to look as if they know what they are doing with the bandages at this stage. The user also begins to be able to harden as well as wrap at this stage. A strength of 15 is able to break free of the bandages at this stage, and it takes 17 when they are hardened. Not any better than the previous stage for the most part, this level is mroe upgrading previous skills with them rather than developing more. The bandages can still only be extended 5 feet, same as previous level.
Regular Techniques:
Name: Heki Genkotsu (Burst Punch):
Upgraded form of the burst punch. Not much better but it is an improvement. Requires more concentration and more chakra obviously.
Special Techniques:
Name: Yari no Shitsunen (Spear of oblivion) :
After a series of hand seals, the user launches one of their arms backwards, and rapidly shoots the hand forward. The hand is shot forward in a knife edge fist shape starting when the user finishes the hand seals. As the hand is shot forward, the bandages on the users arm of choice loosen themselves, and then tighten again over the knife edge fist. The outside of the bandages are hardened an sharpened, and in the long run form a spear of sorts over the knife edge shaped hand. The bandages go over the fist, as well as elongate past the fingers for about a foot.
-------------------------------------------------------------
Stage Five:
Stat Requirements: Strength 20 , Stamina 20, Speed 16, control 16
Stage Bonuses: 0 Strength, 1 Stamina, 2 Speed
Physical: The user is a full fledged taijutsu user at this point, having the same build as most other taijutsu users of equal level. The user is now beginning to show the gap between themselves and normal nin who do not specialize in taijutsu. The style at this point weeds out the ones who are not dedicated to the style enough to move on. This level is the cut off point if you will for users who are no serious about continuing.
Bandage Rigidity: The bandages harden to the consistency of hardened leather much like studded leather armor.
Bandage movement: The actual movement stays almost at a standstill at this point, though this is where the real special techniques begin. Wrapped bandages can be broken with not many problems with a strength of 22 or above. The bandages are effictivley controlled like a whip, and can be swung, extended and whatnot out as if it were a whip. The ablility to wrap as well as tighten and harden are easier to exicute.
Regular Techniques:
Name: Hagane Benso (Steel Defense):
The user has learned how the opponent will move, and can block a certain kinds of strike with not a lot of trouble. Officially this attack is considered the pinnacle of counter attacking in the style, and is quite useful against most lower level ninja than the user. The user is always on look out for an attack that they are able to counter with this, and now this becomes integral to the style. At this point, the opponents fist, legs, or even head can possibly be stopped by the hardened bandages. Firstly it may hurt the opponent because the bandages are hardened, and secondly it gives the user the edge for a counter attack juts like before. From this point the user is able to use the bandages to send the user flying, or the user can, as from before strike out at the opponent. Though now the user can strike more than once, they can strikes in three hit combonations. While three hit combonations are possible, it is obviously not guaranteed. At this point, after the attack is caught, the bandages continue down the oppoenets arm not only the fist, this of course leaves more time as well as room for the counter attack.
Name: Ochitomeru (To bring down the bird):
The name of this technique refers to the attack as a whole, being that the user sends the opponent up, and brings them down even faster. Much like hunting a bird, striking the bird and letting it fall to the ground. The user wraps as much of the opponent up with the bandages, and attempts to launch the opponent upwards into the air as they are still connected via the bandages. Then the user leaps upwards alongside the opponent, and sends them back to the earth with any means necessary. After the opponent hits the ground once again, the user falls to the ground and can either cut the ties of the bandages, or land on the user adding to the power. Used often when nothing else seems to work. The bandages allow for a wealth of different ways to send the opponent back to the earth. The bandages can be extended a good 8 feet now.
Name: Rasenyarikuuhakuu (Spiral Spear Vacuum)
Unlike the Yari no Shitsunen (Spear of Oblivion) this involves both arms. After the seals are performed the user sends both of his hands back and drives them forward in the knife edge fist shape, both of them shooting forward as their own spear. The bandages can even be hardened together in the center of both hands to form a single large spear. Each spear separately are about 5 feet further than the fingers, and 10 feet if they are combined in the center. Combined in the center means that the hands end up side by side of each other directly out in front of the user. Upgraded form of Yari no Shitsunen.
Special techniques:
Name: Houtai Sourei: (Bandage Funeral):
After using the Houtai Kyuu, the user sends a large amount of chakra into the bandages effectively tightening them to an almost scary degree. In some cases the user can even crush the person that he has wrapped in a matter of seconds. For the most part though, this move is used as a means of making the target submit. The attacks name is based off of the deadliness that is possible with it, though one must be one sick individual, and have lots of chakra to be able to realize the true gruesome potential of the attack.
Name: Setsuzentarutate (Sharp Shield)
This unique shield is for defensive purposes. The bandages create spikes all across the body of the user. These spikes strike any limb or attacking feature against the user. The damage is equal to a strike of 20 strength. Can be used for 4 posts at once, or only momentary when the strike lands. Limit of using it 10 times in one thread if used when the strike lands, and then goes back to normal. If used for all four posts in a row, it can only be used twice in a thread.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Stage Six:
Stat Requirements: Strength 26, Stamina 24, speed 25, control 19 , Reserves 17
Stage Bonuses: 3 Strength, 0 Stamina, 0 speed
Physical: At this stage the user is officially the jounin status, and that means that the user begins to focus on certain area of their physical bodies that need conditioning more than others. Once this is found out, they user does certain exercised and whatnot more than others due to the fact that they are focused on one area. They are at this point on par once again with other jounin of their same level if they are taijutsu specialists and still above those normal nin.
Bandage rigidity: The bandages are beginning to become hard to the point that it starts to cause cuts and injuries to the user due to how tight the bandages have become as well as how hard. The bandages at this point are almost like striking some sort of metal if they are hit strait on with a fist or foot, and the user now becomes more resistant to pain. They ar about as hard as a weak metal like tin or iron.
Bandage movement: The bandages are almost on master degree when it comes to the user using them how they are supposed to be used. Still the bandages require the user to manipulate them with chakra as well as their own bodies, though at this stage the user can begin to use them in cooperation with basic taijutsu without even realizing it. The special techniques at this stage are notorious for becoming more and more violent, as well as more and more advanced. The strength of the opponent must be equal or above the strength of the user to break out without a problem. The user is able to control the bandages as if they were on the same level as a chuunin who has mastered the whip. Much the same in the ablilites, though obviously the jounin uses the bandages not a whip. the bandages simply function like a whip. Wrapping, tightening and hardening have made another leap, and are able to all be used together at once. For example, the user can create the blade like protrusion, and swing it at the opponent, when they bandages make contact, they can wrap and tighten in quick succession. The bandages are able to extend forward 10 feet now.
Regular Techniques:
Name: Kakka Ken:
A very off putting strike from one or both of the arms. During an attack on the user, the user starts to defend the opponent as normal, though when they gets close enough, the user quickly hits the opponents attack away, and as the opponent reels back from that strike, the user slams the opponent hard in the chest, sending them flying. It is called burning fist simply because it "comes in hot" so to speak. The bandages are sent forward as a burst of secondary power.
Special Techniques:
Name: Yaiba no seikuu (Blades that bring nothingness/ Blade of
Nothingness):
This technique brings the user to the pinnacle of the offensive capabilities with the bandages. After a series of quick hand seals the user simply slams their hands down to the ground, in most cases in a furious almost demon like manner. As the users hands hit the ground, all the bandages on both the arms loosen and begin to fall to the ground, then from that position the bandages shoot outwards of the user with extreme force. Also the user stands up at this point if they wish. The edges of the bandages are sharpened to perfection and can cause massive cuts. The bandages are under so much chakra manipulation, that after the attack they rip apart and fall to the ground useless. The user can direct them in a certain direction or just shoot them outward for area of effect. If they are directed in a certain direction, they swerve in and out of one another confusing the opponent to where the attack will hit. This is said to be the ultimate attack in the style. Can be used 3 times in one thread.
