Rules for Use of the Celestial Gates:
Each gate, in sequence will increase the user’s physical stats by 10%, consecutively. Therefore, the first gate carries a 10% increase to Strength, Speed, and Stamina. The fourth gate would increase these stats by 40%. The only exception is the eighth gate, which increases these stats by full 200% (tripling them). Any decimal ending is .5 or greater is rounded up, otherwise it is rounded down. When determining the percentage, extra stats gained by training in taijutsu trees are included in the base amount. Thus, if a user opens the second gate, and has also taken a stage of a strength focused style, with a base strength of 12, the math would run thus: 12 base plus 6 taijutsu bonus equals 18. 20% of 18 is 3.6, rounded up equals a further four boost to strength, therefore the total is 22.
The user may open any number of gates in a single post, however, the opening counts as that user's attack for the post. The user may keep the gates open for as long as he/she desires. However, as long the gate is kept open, the user will incur penalties his/her physical stats. These penalties are equal to 2 points per gate per post. (The first post of opening the gates is not counted in this.) For example, if you were to open the third gate for four posts, you would incur a penalty of 24 to all physical stats. 2 x 3 (3rd gate) x 4 (4 posts) = 24. However, these penalties do not apply themselves until the gate is actually closed, unless any of the user's stats would drop to 0 as a result of the penalties. Remember that if Strength or Stamina drop to 0 or lower, your character will die. If Speed drops to 0 or lower, your character will be immobile.
The penalty lasts until the user has some time to recuperate, which generally takes about 3 days of rest. In OOC terms, this means that the next thread he participates in, he will have regained half of his lost stats. The thread after that, assuming he did not open gates again, he will be back to full status. However, a medical nin of beginner jounin level or higher can heal the damage done by the gates, although they cannot prevent a death caused by the eight gate. However, with time and training, the user slowly becomes more used to the toll the gates take on his/her body. If the user opens a gate 2 gates below his/her maximum, he may recover his stats after two posts per the gate used. For example, you are able to open the seventh gate, but you only open the fifth. In that case, 10 posts after closing the gates, you would recover your stats.
Since the use of the Gates is a rather distinctive ability, the taijutsu techniques used while opening the gates is equally distinctive. When applying the Gates to a character, you should also create one or more physical techniques to use at each stage.
The Celestial Gates
Kai-Mon (Initial Gate)
Requirements: Stamina 4, Strength 4
Opening the Kai-Mon will remove the brain’s built-in inhibitors that prevent the body’s muscles from exerting their full force. These inhibitors, however, are in place for good reason. They also prevent the musceles from literally tearing themselves apart through overuse. However, there may come a time when a person is willing to risk their body for some cause, and the temporary increase in power that comes as a result of full use of the muscles may be their only option.
Kyu-Mon (Heal Gate)
Requirements: Stamina 8, Strength 6, Willpower 6
The Kyu-Mon is an important part of the gates, as it helps in the user’s tolerance of gate use. When this gate is opened, it forcibly restores a great deal of the user’s stamina. This ability chiefly comes into play later, as the user’s body becomes more accustomed to opening gates. The Kyu-mon helps to ease the burden that other gates place on the body.
Sei-Mon (Life Gate)
Requirements: Stamina 12, Strength 8, Willpower 8
Sei-Mon restricts the flow of the chakra from user’s soul. By releasing this gate, the user enables a great surge of chakra through the user’s body, bestowing an explosive increase in strength.
Sho-Mon (Harm Gate)
Requirements: Stamina 18, Strength 14, Speed 11, Willpower 14
Sho-Mon is the crucial gate when it comes controlling the amount on pain the body feels, what makes the body feel good and what causes the pain. Releasing this gate completely disables the user’s pain receptors thus making him immune to all pain –or any physical feeling at that. The inability of feeling pain allows the user to be a perfect fighting machine.
To-Mon (Limit Gate)
Requirements: Stamina 23, Strength 18, Speed 15, Willpower 16
This gate restricts the muscles from using their maximum power and prevents them from being sprained. The body does not use the full potential of muscles to prevent reduce the risk of them getting strained or deteriorated through reckless or abusive use. Combined with Kyu-Mon, this gate really helps to temper the force provided by the gates.
Kei-Mon (View Gate)
Requirements: Stamina 30, Strength 25, Speed 20, Willpower 19, Tactics 17
‘The eyes are the way to a person’s soul’ goes the saying. Normally eyes are only able to see so much and have rather high restrictions such as greatly limited night vision, vision ranged and ability to see objects that move in very high speeds. Kei-Mon prevents the eyes from being harmed from excessive use but when released, it will remove all restrictions from the eyes allowing the user to see everything clearer and are able to react on events in much faster pace. The release also allows the user to see high-speed objects easier again allowing him to react to them better.
Kyo-Mon (Wonder Gate)
Requirements: Stamina 39, Strength 35, Speed 25, Willpower 24, Tactics 20
One of the last restrictions on the body though harmless when used alone- allows, upon release, another burst of chakra to flow through the user. This empowers both the muscles and the brain of the user, increasing the reaction time greatly, as well as providing a great boost to strength and speed.
Shi-Mon (Death Gate)
Requirements: Stamina 40, Strength 40, Speed 40, Willpower 30, Tactics 30
While Sei-Mon controls the chakra flow from the user’s soul, Shi-Mon opens a direct pathway to the soul allowing an immense burst of chakra within the user vastly sharpening every aspect of the body. The chakra of the soul is known to be the most potent of them all and by letting it overflow freely granting demigod-like powers – for a cost, of course. After this gate is closed, the user’s body is so ravaged by the effects that he/she dies instantly.
