"A'ight, my good jackass", Ogee begins. "Whatcha want to do for me? Organ trafficking? Smuggling? Drugs? Killing? Torture? Porn?"

"Well, ya gotta remember, your Rangers charter is pretty strict on the torture bit, a little anti-assassination, but the smuggling is probably okay. So I have a great one: There's this one organ I need smuggled. Just one."

"Yeah, this falls pretty squarely into the 'Other' category. You see, deep in the Imperium - and if you ask me what the Imperium is I'm not talking to you till you read a fucking book - there was a cold lump of ice, a glacial fragment, a... a fucking comet. Inside of it, they found a black heart. Whatever it is, someone here needs it. You get to fuck the Imperium, so do I, we make a fair profit, everyone's happy."

"Eh, not really. You're gonna have to go deep into their space and find a contact. The only thing that they said is that the contact has a star tattoo on his hand. After that you'll probably secure the item, protect the drop points, and bring it back to me."

alright then hack heads to Brinxa-IV in black widow (you have got to love a shape changing vehicle)

Indeed. Now, bear in mind: Imperium space is heavily patrolled. Figuring out a plan to get in through the defenses will matter.

Post by Vincent Hack on May 6, 2006 0:54:40 GMT -5
yes, any pattern to their defences or is it entirely random
Post by Frederic Bourgault-Christie on May 7, 2006 2:50:14 GMT -5
Like most modern societies, the Imperium has both random and patterned defenses. Uniquely to them they have gates that at random intervals summon hordes which will attack anything in the area.

and then what, do they just keep fighting until they die, or do they eventually leave
Post by Vincent Hack on May 13, 2006 23:23:33 GMT -5
alright stay a safe distance away from the gate, wait until the monsters leave back through the gate, then floor it
Post by Frederic Bourgault-Christie on May 15, 2006 15:56:27 GMT -5
The Chaos Bulwarks (the gates) do eventually bring the creatures back to where they were, also at random intervals, unless they encounter foes. In general, summoners do well to pace their summoning.
No, see, you aren't even in their vacuumspace. These are only rumors. I assume you'll be taking Black Widow and/or Shi, which has some tradeoffs in terms of speed or size or so on.

The Imperium is surrounded by relatively empty space in one sector, the Renn-Mitte Confederacy, and a number of independent star systems that either rely on the Old Guard for protection or pay out the ear for Zengzi mercenary protection. Which direction will you enter from?

Post by Vincent Hack on May 17, 2006 18:05:57 GMT -5
i'll go with the old guard sectors

You begin driving to the Imperium, moving through interstellar space, cutting across stars and quasars. As you pass through a gravitically thick patch, there is a sudden rush of motion and BW takes a number of powerful strikes.

"oh that Fucker better not have scratched the paint job" aaaaannd Hack Floors it

Post by Frederic Bourgault-Christie on May 18, 2006 21:09:07 GMT -5
The difficulty with flooring it is the gravitational riptide that could tear BW asunder. He will have to be very smart about his motions, and conserve them.

Hack not only does not get very fast, but the effect takes him into a whorl, and he is now spinning for dear mercy. A Heatsound burst is now coming at Hack.

okay fire the missiles

To... intercept the Heatsound? Hit the people before it fires or before another round comes? What?
Post by Vincent Hack on May 24, 2006 18:18:43 GMT -5
one to intercept the heart sound, oneto retalliate against the attack and a third to disable the weapon

The missile fires too late to either strike the projector or create a shield from the Heatsound, but it does fire anyways. The reliation strikes, hitting the person on the space-bike. Hack can see now that there is someone on a spaceboard, a spacebike, a small grappler-interceptor (possibly a goblinoid pilot or an AI) and a larger ship. The spacebike does a complex manuever called the Gristom, using his spinning to regenerate his shields. The shot for the projector on the large ship does destroy it.
The bike now fires Spin-Missiles, using the bike's own torque to drill in. Hack again can attempt a response at -30. (FN: 273/267 S/D).
