What military was this? Former US? UEG? Romanian?

Former U.S. military, he'll start wherever his last memory takes him. keep in mind hack has a kill count somewhere near the population of hell, this is common knowledge to most all militaristic organizations. he is also building a hefty reputation of sucess in the "reclemation" of people who were kidnapped, especially small children

Most of the former US was repatriated into the UEG hierarchy. It is alleged by those with a more unsavory or critical view of government that certain underground cells and tendencies (ala CIA, FBI, etc. "black ops") went through too. Others went into private business, and it is rumored that some went into the anti-World Unity organizations...

Lets start off with the CIA, history tells me that they were Always borderlining on the illegal, even when they were offically sanctioned, where was their last known base of operations, and how recently was it used. black widow can be there in less than thirty minutes even if it's on the opposite side of the planet (I told you sub- light speed is a crawl for her)

Well, the last-known public base of operation was the CIA Headquarters in Fairfax County. Underground, the rumors are much more extensive. I imagine Hack has his share of contacts that could find old cells. Alternately, he could see who washed up into the UEG.
(Your TEAMMATES run at FTL on their own. Vehicles are averaging five times FTL regularly).
How are we going to play your recruitment into the Rangers and your joining with Crashing Heavens? Will this be the entrance, or something else?

How are we going to play your recruitment into the Rangers and your joining with Crashing Heavens? Will this be the entrance, or something else? OOC: let this be the entrance IC: lets get a few of my contacts working on this, and lets see if any of my assassin trainers have heard or seen anything about my, alteration

OOC: Well, this is somewhat before you got any trainers.
IC: Vincent calls on his secured cellphone. Most of his contacts refuse to pick up, simply won't, or have nothing. But one picks up with an exultant voice. "What a nice coincidence, Mr. Hack." This is Mr. Virelli, the most amoral of your contacts, but among the best information brokers.

"Why, are we not jumping the proverbial gun a little bit? Do you not have any greeting, perhaps some idle chit-chat? In any respect: Both you and these two currently in my office have the same goal in mind, though you are pursuing it from two different angles. And to make it even better, they are Rangers! Hahah! But, of course, what you do for me is negotiable."

"hmm...perhaps, tell me Virelli are the two in your office after the same goals as me, do they want vengance for what's happened to them, and I know you probably want a few people dead as well"

"No, they do not have your consuming desire. They are seeking out a different but connected group of people, though I'm sure they have some interest in those you want gone too. As for me, well, money can always do the trick."

"I don't have anything until you can guarantee me payment. Either a COEP [Certificate of Expected Payment] or a soul contract for goods or services for 30% (that's 300,000) or I hang up. 30. 29."

OOC: Realize that ogee wipes his ass with triple the amount this dude is asking for, and ogee owes his entire buisness to hack,
"How about cash? I should be there in a few minutes"
|
|
|
Post by Frederic Bourgault-Christie on Feb 7, 2006 1:01:23 GMT -5
OOC: Well, no, not really. 1 million was GP. That's 100 million dollars. Illegal organ trafficking is not so profitable anymore because organs can be cloned and most UEG countries have socialized health care regimes. Further, like most underground businesses, you have to have a lot of money in circulation for laundering at any given time. Your customers are mostly necromancers, rich people with strange predilections, or people in other dimensions or planets with less generous health systems.
"Uh uh uh, nothing stops you from killing me or taking the information from me when you arrive. Get a COEP ASAP. 25. 25."

|
|
Post by Vincent Hack on Feb 7, 2006 1:28:58 GMT -5
OOC: oh okay i thought that was dollars, which really is still quite a bit of money
IC: "no I won't kill you, no reason to" * as hack says this he pulls up to his office, and produces the fresh COEP and the appropreate down payment*
|
|
|
Post by Frederic Bourgault-Christie on Feb 7, 2006 1:36:37 GMT -5
OOC: Yes, it is, but somewhere more within the range that an organ trafficking business will have on hand. Hack doesn't know where the office is - his interlocutor moves to rented no-questions-asked apartments.
"You and I know that reason for you is a luxury, not a guarantee." When the COEP is transferred and Hack's bank contacted, the office's address is given, and that is when Hack appears.

"True, very true" well then I pull up to wherever we have arranged the meeting at the appropreate Time, I do know that Time is a luxury that people in our line of work simply do not have enough of

The meeting time was immediate. Hack walks into a building filled with rented offices. The carpets are plush and the smell is of air freshener. The secretary/information desk person looks up at him while he walks through the offices into where the meeting room is. As he strides in, he sees two people occupying chairs. One is a blond, deeply tanned young man, younger than Hack (must have lived his whole life during the era of the Old Guard), wearing a leather jacket, a wifebeater and jeans, and an Asian girl, probably Japanese, with purple highlights and in sweatpants and a sweatshirt.
Vermelli smiles as Hack comes in. He is a very greasy-looking Italian man, with slicked hair and a small black moustache. "Ah, Mr. Hack. Please sit down, I insist."

The COEP has already been sent through the magic of telecommunications.

OOC: whoops forgot about that
IC: then i sit down with a healthy distance between myself and the other two "so what do you have for me Vermelli?"

The blonde one says says, "Wait a second here. What, are we the unwashed masses?"
Vermelli shakes his head. "Hack is brusque, to the point and socially inept. Well, Mr. Hack, the situation is as follows." He takes out a manila folder and hands it to Hack. "I could not find all of the doctors and agents who were in your programs, but a large group did enter into the Minutemen. You see, after the integration of the United States into the UEG, many former groups who considered themselves patriots refused to make the transition. In their eyes, the United States must be restored as an independent nation by force. The Minutemen has no core leadership, but they came close to acquiring one. And this is where these two come in. You see, the President was that leader, the self-same President who opposed Crashing Heavens in the finals."

Quion says, "Ah, so NOW you acknowledge our existence. Classy, there. Name's Quion." The girl takes a moment to say, "...Sarashito. So you were... experimented on?"

"that's the graceful way to put it, (removes shades and looks her in the eyes) lets put it this way, the only thing human in me anymore is my mind, and only just"

Sarashito nods. "...I hope your scientists were nice. Mine could be..." Quion shrugs. "Well, the enemy of my enemy is my friend barring evidence to the contary."
Vermelli nods. "Precisely, and yet I can still charge for every one of you independently. They come in because they are members of Crashing Heavens. They are just as interested as you are in finding these men. Moreover, they are even more interested in finding their allies. You see, the Mafia and the Americans have had a long-standing relationship, ever since World War II. So the international crime syndicates were very amenable to the Minutemen. You see, a restoration of the US would also restore opportunities for organized crime, especially if they acquire a favored relationship. Understand the connection?"
