Well, this is a general RPG board. Since folks have moved off to college, enhanced hours at jobs, lost cars, and become fugitives from the law, a lot of us have had a lot less time to dick off with imaginary friends. I think this board is a potential solution.
Some comments and rules:
I've organized most of the boards into Private and Public. Go ahead and go into Private; I think I can trust people to avoid going into boards they shouldn't, though I think there are password protect features. For now, I'll go by the honor system. Messages in Private channels right now are for anybody; when they actually get used, they'll be marked as to who should be in and who should, implicitly or explicitly, be out. I imagine that private channels will also have at least one "buffer" post to describe what's going on.
When you post, you can go ahead and edit if you wish, but please make a record of all edits. I don't want someone rewriting history by editing, say, character sheets or something (though I imagine the abuse will be limited given that posts will be in a context if nothing else). Since this will be a written record of what happens for my later reference, I don't want to have to remember everything that gets posted.
The General Board can be used for what the hell you want. Forum etiquette is pretty basic: Be nice, don't flame, post on topic, don't double-post, all the basics. Announcements of a personal matter and discussions can go there.
Regarding post style: Since you have the time to post and collect your thoughts without being lost in the shuffle like in our MSN sessions or in our live sessions, it'd be nice to see more description (and I may be just as bad as anyone else if I'm rushed). Embellish a little: throw in some funny or potent dialogue, describe your character's appearance and actions, interact with objects, describe strategy, etc.
Use OOC (Out-of-Character) and IC (In-Character) when you shift styles to spare a lot of confusion. For example:
___________________________
Fred takes the green Bic up a few inches in front of his face, fumbling with it, until he gets a feeble flame. He puts the flame to the side and watches helplessly as it blows onto his thumb, causing him to put down the cigarette and growl.
OOC: Remind y'all of anything?
IC again: He says, "Aw, fuck-snizzle."
______________________________
You can use personal pronouns/the first person ("I will swing the sword") or the third-person when posting, but it does get problematic with multiple characters. You can always develop shorthands for your characters: for example, Om for Ominai, Ik for Ikiru, etc.
If you have an idea for a category or board, PM or e-mail me. That could include if you want to GM here: Aaron, Justin, Kyle, and others should pay attention on this point (hint, hint).
Regarding CotG in particular, given the incredibly high complexity of the techniques and strategy, I'll try to be very precise about things; if you feel any need to ask questions down to minutiae, do so. Try to be as descriptive as possible with what you're trying to do (a daunting task given the topic, I'm aware).
Because people will be posting at different rates, I'll try to allow for some staggering throughout time, but there may be times where some waiting will need to occur. I'll try to set precise dates in those instances. Since the number of games out there is pretty substantial, especially when considering all the individual FB games, slowdown in one area shouldn't lead to the board grinding to a halt. Obviously try to post as often as you can: I would personally prefer a rushed post (as it can be edited later) that people can at least tentatively respond to.
Use common sense when giving OOC advice and planning. Obviously in the public sections I want to simulate real-life insofar as possible, so OOC requests or proposals can be bounced about as much as you need, but elsewhere I may put limits, perhaps a few "tickets' to offer some advice. Since I can't enforce other channels of communication, I'll again have to rely on good faith.
EDIT: I've disabled all censorship. Again, be reasonable.
I will reiterate this again: DO NOT DOUBLE-POST. Sometimes, it may be appropriate (such as when a thread has been dead for some time and you want to issue a reminder or when we handle in person or over MSN/AIM/IRC a session that modifies what is currently going on in a thread), but if you have forgotten something essential, click on the Edit button above the post and add in something.
