"Hmm. Well, we've never heard of it, but it's a very big universe!"
Now Jess is remembering a bit more, some obscure terms. For example, something in her describes this as a strange combination of New York circa 1955 and circa 2005.

"Earth. Never heard of it. Ah, we're here!" The car pulls outside of a large diner that has been structured to look like a house. People leave in and out: Rough-looking men in torn outfits, people in ostentatious uniforms, etc.

Jess is able to do so on her own. Relan comes to the other side, saying, "Huh. That's funny, those are supposed to be locked. Well, thank God this car has child locks!"

She can certainly try. Relan says, "I'm sure we will be in for a big surprise no matter how you turn out. That's what it means to be a parent." She opens the door.

Dajess says, "There is something about hearty food like that, huh?" He walks to the double door. There is no one in line and a waitress in a plaid dress comes up and says, "Well, what can I get ya folks?" Relan says, "Booth, please." The three are led to a red-upholstered booth with a green table. In the center of the table is an array of jams and nuts for casual consumption, and some bread is brought very quickly.

Jess indeed chugs down the water, such that the waitress virtually immediately gets another glass and fills both. The waitress smiles at Jess a lot (Jess looks more human or normal than either Relan or Dajess). Relan says, "I bet you'd like a Spacer soda", as the waitress hands out menus.

Jess says that, then feels a strange sensation. Dajess says, "You can't consume things too fast - they go bad on you." He moves her glasses back for a moment. Relan says, "In space, spacers often only have hydroponic plant and algal material left. It's basically this protein goo. So they mess around with various things and they eventually get a frothy drink that gives them all their proteins, vitamins, and even medicine! They have a lot of flavors... Here." She points to a page.

"Well, that's why we said the other meanings too. But some adults like to be children too. There's no shame in being a kid sometimes", Relan says.
Dajess says, "Another advantage: 'Boo-boo' means something pretty broad. If you felt bad but not painful, that could be a boo-boo too."

She walks past a boy and a girl looking uncomfortably at a menu and occasionally taking peeks across the menu, a number of men in dingy suits carousing, a group of many different... whatever that word is (all Jess can think of is "shells" or "marks") wearing clothing covered with metal stringy things and talking, and finally she comes to a hallway with a fork in it. Two sets of four lines, one with a triangle thing around the bottom two lines, are represented near signs that say "Ladies" and "Gents", respectively. Relan walks down the direction that is indicated by "Ladies".
