"Hmmmm. The term 'Angel' has been used to refer to many things, of course... Perhaps you mean the Angels that attacked the Earth of the Evangelion Dimension?"

"Hmmmm... Well, if you are to resolve this problem for me, I may be able to provide some degree of military assistance..." Hack doubts that despite the gleaming look of his soldiers that his army can be much help. Generally, there is an inverse relationship between how good an army looks and how well it fights.

Actually, even that's arguable ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) . "I see. Well, then I hope you can contain the creature... I would hate to have to impede you." With that crass veiled threat, he works on his steak.

Even if the local defenses of the government don't shoot you down for that, you may very well scare the people you're trying to speak to. Remember: Hack sure as hell doesn't trust a two bit tyrant over gypsies.

Hack drives through the city. The premise that the campers are some kind of blight on the landscape becomes somewhat of a joke as Hack sees the slums past the shining city. While the demographic data seems to indicate reasonable living standards, and Hack has certainly seen worse slums in his career, the gradation to the nomadic camp is certainly not totally obvious. It seems the demographics hide a substantial urban class forced to the worst edges of the city to work in the center.
Further, as Hack drives through the admittedly irregular de facto roads formed by the travelers, he is somewhat impressed by how well they travel. Even the tents are large and somehow luxurious, and then there are mobile homes that are likely spaceworthy. The center is a set of small spaceships and one massive spaceship that becomes a nice central area... or fortress?

The gypsies look on at these obviously armed men with some distrust, some even seeming to look at locations where weapons may be secreted away. The mood in the air is quite tense until an elderly woman, seemingly quite jolly, in a black collared outfit, a cross proudly displayed around her neck and carrying a Bible, says, "My children, do not fear these outsiders until they show their true colors. One is a paladin of great goodness." She comes down off the ship, moving painfully slowly, and inches closer. "Tell me your business, dearies, and do sit down for a cookie..."
