Those who wish to start themselves in Muse Aegis can do so here! I'd prefer but will not require people to be done with their sheets prior to starting. Tell me what you might be doing on an average day and I will construct your initiation campaign.

Nice set up, i like the game so far, I would normally be either out for a walk to the beach, in my room on the comp, watching TV (usually the history channel or the science channel), listening to music, painting models, or playing vidya games.

As Joe walks down the beach, he becomes dimly aware of a rising wave. It's a large one, and now that he looks, it sort of lines up with the road in the distance where it appears that recently the metal barrier got broken. Even more interestingly, a car is now rising from the water. "Yo, kid. Get in. I'm supposed to take you somewhere." The man inside is dressed in a Hawaiian shirt and pants that are SO not this decade.

I stare at the man in absolute bewilderment, then at the car, then at the man again, I look around to see if anyone else is around, then I tell the man,
"well, that's certainly an interesting car,who are you?"

"you nuts? There isn't any sort of city in 20 miles of here, besides, most people here are democratic, and why would you need me to take out a meth dealership?"

Hills Flat couldn't wait, apparently. The group handled it.
So far, what you've sort of picked up from the grapevine to handle is:
*Black's mom. This is priority #1 since we're not sure how long Iruga, her captor, will leave her alive and unharmed. *The mystery of Brian's house. What looks like some eco-terrorists buried his house and cars in an avalanche. *Missions from Koenma. *Missions from Tommy Vercetti. *Feickert's mission regarding Fearcrow. *Talking to Avi Frank: Apparently, this paranoid schizophrenic UC Berkeley Mythology professor is a specialist on the Kin. *Missions from Dusk Sky *Missions from Ken *Tong Immortal: There's a douche Immortal on the block in San Francisco. *Lo Pan Revivalists: Meanwhile, a gang trying to revive the name if not the actual person of Lo Pan is terrorizing the streets. *Rose Splinter: The team has made some enemies with the government. Apparently, the Rose Splinter faction can help. *Spirit Journey Formation Anniversary: Spirit quests! *Franco's demon: Eventually, Franco's demon will force him to assassinate someone or do something wrong. Then we'll have to find a solution.
And so forth.

I love how priority number one is my mother, yet we've only been doing other scenarios/missions/ect. I recall the reasoning "we're not strong enough so we need to do other stuff first" very clearly but I do have to wonder how much longer in game we can wait.
Also, how's Joe get loot if he wasn't there again?

Reordered for importance (after talking it over with Fred)
Black Mother Rescue (While the group is not currently strong enough to do this I have a gut feeling that once most of the things on this list are taken care of, this will open up for doing. However do remember that everything your doing is to help everyone get ready for this, don't be selfish pricks so to speak.)
Fix relationship with government (I negotiated a neutral ground to enter a statement with the government, I also arranged protection. After a statement is negotiated this group will help us erase our records from the government, which would be vital for those looking to take on a secret identity. In the meantime they will be giving us missions to help them in return till they can set up the meeting.)
Thunderbird's Wings (Fred needs help getting wings from a god Thunderbird, this will help him gear up for Iruga.)
Tong Immortal (There is a new immortal on the block and his inability to be killed by means short of an immortal cutting off his head makes him a possible threat, fortunately we happen to know one.)
Lo Pan Revivalists (Lo Pan, the sorcerer from big trouble in little china, is possibly back in china town. Weather its a hoax or himself actually getting resurrected its operation needs to be shutdown.)
Spirit Journey Formation Anniversary (Generic spirit quests)
Brian Terrorists (Eco terrorists attack Brian's house and buried it, someone may wish to go and show these assholes whats up.)
New Koenma (missions for spirit world essentially)
New Dusk Sky (missions for the mummy, remember to never turn down sex from a mummy)
New Tommy Vercetti (missions from the main guy from GTA:vice city)
Everything not on the list is not of IMMEDIATE importance.

Depends.
The items that were dropped for Cory, Joe and Feickert clearly were intended for them. In Joe's case, it's a shield that the rest of us can't really use even before any mystical considerations. In Cory's case, it's a mail that's too large for any of us to wear, except for Mario and it doesn't seem to fit the full shapeshifting either. In Feickert's case, only Fred is close to being sophisticated enough to read the book. If people wish to protest, they can do so, but Fred points out that Joe, Cory and Feickert were involved in various stages of planning.
As far as your mother goes: First of all, Fred recently acquired the Power Sense ability. He can gauge Iruga's strength, roughly, though can't be sure about possible mystic deceptions, distortions due to distance, etc. Nonetheless, he is confident within a reasonable degree that Iruga is something like 10 times stronger than any individual member, as are his brothers. Only now are we getting to be viable.
Second, just like any other hostage situation, if the plan is to enter it needs to be with overwhelming force. So the factor should be 10 times the OTHER direction.
But Black can go solo if he wants. He can do what he pleases. Fred mentioned possibly talking to Iruga: That could be what you do.
Frankly, the stuff near the bottom isn't even really of immediate importance either. There's other things imaginable as well that might have slightly higher priority.

Yes, sorry that the world does not revolve around you . You have sort of the most important role of all of us right now: Talking to Iruga. This is a tense part of negotiation. Extrapolating from his previous behavior, he'll give as little as possible in terms of information and try take as much as possible. And, it being a hostage negotiation, if Black makes an error his mother might be tortured, raped or killed. First is the phone call.

In the new timeline:
Joe met Tommy much later and was already changed.
Mario did encounter a Sentinel, but this was because he was already a hero.
Franco did NOT make the pact with Dr A.M. On. In fact, that demon was destroyed by the shifting world.
Feickert has been studying and training for years.
Cory has been traveling through the woods for years, dropping in when least expected, leaving when most.
Kevin's experience with the Iris Guns and going to the Golden Sun world occurred five years ago. Other than that, no significant change.
Marshall's training with Ryu occurred five years ago. Other than that, no significant change.
Cassidy has spent quite some time mastering his Jumping and has a lot of skill in it. Other than that, no significant change.
Fred discovered his powers late in the junior year of high school. He's been running around being heroic ever since, after plying his trade in construction and elsewhere.
Ray discovered his suit five years ago. Other than that, no significant change.
The team did perform the Ordeal, meet Dusk Sky, free the archmage from his delusion, fight Iruga, etc.
The new timeline begins on November 24, 2008, slightly before Thanksgiving...

*sigh* Read the Restart post carefully please, Black, and what I just said carefully.
You guys rewrote the world and yourself. But this is not a full reboot. Consider it a soft reset, more like in two ITMs ago when Fred became uber and we got soft reset with some people keeping their powers or regaining them rapidly.
The Sinistrals never came. All plot threads connected to them either disappeared or stand on their own. But the other elements DID occur, just spaced out and filled with other things.
So, you, for example, Black, may have met Kaylie two years ago, took out the methheads and sent Juggernaut running a year ago, got a year of ninjutsu training from a hidden village in the hills of Japan, spent another year slumming around GV, Sacto and SF learning to tag, etc. Similarly, Joe became a Tyranid not this year but five years ago in a botched Catholic Church experiment. This lets you get backgrounds, Positive and Negative Traits, etc.
The upshot of this is that all the awesome things you guys did remains correct without the suffering the Sinistral arc put you through, and you guys are also far more experienced. You have an idea of the world, many of the players remain the same, but the Imagination elements are far more entrenched and natural, making them far safer.
Further, whatever you liked about your previous character you can retain while trading in whatever you don't like for new ideas. Black, you for example could trade in Thunder of the Three Storms for Genin and perhaps The One or Star of War for Jet Set Radio Grinder, but retain The One, Vile Spear, Gades' Blade, etc. Or you can trade everything in. Whatever you prefer.
Ray seems to have gone a cyborg route this time, so when he discovered his suit five years ago it aggressively bound to him and he just ran with it and became a full conversion cyborg.
Anything that you change about your character, of course, also changes the new timeline. For example: Brian being a chronomancer means that when he visited the Hills of Nicarao, he did not become a Gestalt [unless he decided to retain that element] but instead learned about the unity of all things and how that played into his manipulation of time.
Similarly, when you guys all visited the shaman on Maidu, he gave you different lessons due to different concepts.
A good analogy is Crisis on Infinite Earths, though hopefully less sucky.
Is this starting to make sense?
Please post to Re-Starting so we can get things underway.

well yes and no, it happened, but we changed it so it didnt happen.
think of it this way, from an OOC timeline yes.
from an in charecter timeline no, we discovered our powers five years ago and have been doing small scale stuff since then.

|
|
Post by Frederic Bourgault-Christie on Nov 26, 2008 1:50:13 GMT -5
No, not simply.
Some events are totally gone. All references to the Sinistrals, for example, were deleted. Similarly, Avi is back at his Professorial duties.
Some events are part of your back story. We beat the Hills Flat demons a few months ago. We freed your mom from Iruga a few years ago. And so forth.
And some events have changed in many ways or entirely.

Excellent! Yes, you can start Zoie here. You and Feickert were battling that imp - do you think you can get Feickert to post consistently, or might you like to do another mission?
Incidentally, for Cory I might need to create another thread since you won't be privy to all of the Arcana stuff. I assume that Cory wouldn't go with the team to see Avi.

As far as missions go I think there is plenty here for me to do, I just need to do it. and even is up to his head in chem homework so no I dont think we can continue the battle.
as for Cory, who does not like magic one bit, yes the new thread is very nice of you. tho i dont know what to do....you kinda left it open or i just need to pull my head out of my ass he he

All right, we'll continue your investigation later.
So, what does the new Harmony Magi want to do with her time in Florida?
The point is that it IS open for you guys. You're going to have to play this by ear, since neither the main team nor the Arcana are going to be able or willing to walk you along.
