Unfortunately, not very much. Kai was very, very vague. Spira imagines that the keys are either sealed away by very, very powerful forces, possibly Colossi, or in the possession of pantheons who would wish to avoid Armageddon stringently. The Hindu pantheons will cause it, so not so much, but the Norse Gods among others are fair game.

mmxz.zophar.net/rpg/mana2/images/glassdesert.gif is what the area looks like. Spira lands in the Glass Desert. He has heard about this place: The Dragon Emperor (the one of Seiken Densetsu, not Hael) turned a whole section of earth into a barren desert. He can land in an area and explore on the ground or walk around, or perhaps go to the Dragon's Hole.

....Yeah, so the Dragon Hole is where the Dragon Emperor hid while his minions found him the Mana Sword. Zable Fahr was encountered once here.

Spira flies down, a cavernous dragon's maw (obviously not living or real but sculpted) faces him. Inside the floor is red and there are spires of earth all over. There are three exits in this room. Spira immediately sees two cloaked ninja leaping around and three floating purple-skinned eye-like creatures.

Tannhauser leaps in, throwing the poor eyes and ninjas every which way. A ninja and a eye leap away, but the rest are struck by a catastrophic critical tail and claw strike. One of the eyes collapses and seems to break somehow and is dead. Immediately the creatures' ire turns onto Spira and his cohorts. One ninja begins charging forward, moving so slow vis-a-vis Spira that he does nothing. The one just damaged stops for a moment, then flips along Tannhauser's back doing a veritable dance of spinning strikes. The boulders attempt for the Luna-based spell, Half Vanish, both on Spira, and one succeeds, knocking Spira's life down 50%!
Spira and his DIO:

And don't forget your Needles trainng.

So since Needles had that good speed, I am gonna run down into the cavern, zipping along all the walls, doing a flurry of my patented, chakra spear/microaura/death touch/ aimed at the boulders that are apparently attacking me. I will intercept the charging ninja with my red shadow, having it toss a few daggers then coming with a spinning lateral katana strike. How many puppets did we decide I have out constantly versus how many I summon? My inscets will bore through the walls and begin exploring the rest of the cave for more suitable enemies, and i will place a few tracking bugs on the ninjas and eye things. If possible, have my Cabbit rocket in, imbuing himself with the full weight of his ship form but staying small, and do a big meteor crush on the boulders. Have Sceleris form himself into a malestrom of death, poison and status effects around my body.
Everyone else hold off for now to see what kind of destruction we have wraught already.

The purple skinned eye creatures = the Power Boulders.
Luckily, these creatures do not absorb physical attacks the way they do elemental magic. They are quickly being worn down.
The ninja easily does so, the daggers stopping the incoming ninja in its track then the katana tearing it in two.
I'd say 20 or so puppets automatically deploy during fights, with upwards of 2000 in battles.
The insects find small and squat wyrm creatures, more ninja, more boulders, and... large caves or areas where there may be vicious enemies.
The Cabbit jumps up, growling horrifically as it turns into a giant ship, smashing into the two boulders. Two remain alive but one is crushed, turning into thick powder.
Scleleris does passive damage, but fails to kill any remaining foes just yet.

K so keep on wearing the power boulders down with spiras turn, using the same combo strikes as before and ending the turn with a big horizontal slash with megascythe in a massive hammer form.
Have my current puppets start zooming round the room and running thick razor wire nets across all the entrances to this room, as well as any thin walls the bugs have found. summon 20 more around me.
If the last boulder is not dead from spiras attack, have the red ninja slash it to bits.
Survey the area, wary of attack.

Don't forget Redline II, Mando, Orochimaru Tongue, and the Iris Orb.
The remaining boulders are brought down by the attacks, the razor wires, and so on. The room is now cleared.
The elemental power of the bugs actually finds a shortcut to a large room through a weak part of the caves.
Monsters are quickly surging in. (FN: RE Mon 15).

how do the redline II turns work?
|
|
|
Post by Frederic Bourgault-Christie on Jul 12, 2006 21:20:20 GMT -5
They use components of the Redline: Scramjet bursts, reorientations, energy or machinegun blasts, etc.

did the monsters get slowed down by the wires? or did they not reach them yet?

Charge up scramjets to surge into the most populated tunnel and go crazy with megascythe chainsaw.

They are being slowed down by the wires.
So you're not going to take the path that you think may lead away from the monsters and further into the cave?

yeah yeah i am gonna take that shortcut. and send out more bugs to find em. FOR GOOD TIME FUN

To find more shortcuts, you mean?
Spira has difficulty burrowing even through this weaker mass. The monsters are coming closer...

alright, have the tann hauser clone land in frotn of the monsters and do a big close range breath attack, while the shadow ninja and all my puppets begin throwing as many daggers as they can
|
|
|
Post by Frederic Bourgault-Christie on Jul 20, 2006 20:37:19 GMT -5
The breath attack is not well-aimed, but that scarcely matters given the raw spread power of the expulsion and the concentrated nature of the opposing monsters. Unfortunately, the same is not true with the ninja and the puppets, whose discrete attacks fail to hit many of the monsters. Luckily, the RSN and the puppets have more turn (the puppets two more).
Making it past Tannhauser, the puppets and the Red Shadow Ninja are: Four floating dark-skinned humanoids riding what looks like totem poles, three large black-armored knights who might be complete apparitions, two floating swords, two werewolves in black gi pants, and four massive suits of armor that may or may not be occupied by living creatures. They are still fighting to get ready to attack.
