Zechs and Trunks leave the APC. Those inside set to the task of resting. Fred mutters, "I was in a five-star hotel yesterday..." as he settles into a small sleeping cubicle.
The two take a circular approach, patrolling slowly. The sounds of the desert are overwhelmingly quiet, maybe so quiet as to indicate danger. About an hour into the patrol, the two with Zechs' enhanced optics see a rustling in the sand... [FN: RE 21, Bss w/ NPCH].

If he had just been hovering over the APC, he wouldn't ever have moved away from it from patrol. You're about 2000 feet from the APC, and the cold and wind is virtually strangling the sound into silence.
