We hadn't started yet. Had we ever created the premise? The whole document I have is:
Glenn: Level:
Norm Striheart: Abilities:
Equipment: Handgun Cybernetics: Medic Nanobots Transmitter Nanobots Battle Trance Nanobots Psionics: Mental Possession Pyrokinesis Mind Lash Telekinesis Telekinetic Barrage Limit Breaks: Mecha Frenzy:Nanomachines within Norm's body switch to full power output, increasing all statistics and ability strengths Psionic Constriction- A psychic pulse of energy and makes pudding out of the brains of an enemy
Nossirah Esura: Jobs Mastered: Planeswalker Poen:
Samuel Grant Antietam: Notes: Former head of the bounty hunters guild A former bounty himself He was born half dragon and was part of the rumored "dragon clan", a ruthless neutral city whom could manipulate others because of its military prowess. The children, having a long lifespan would start training very young to master all forms of weaponry and then gain the trust of a dragon to serve. Sam found a holy dragon whom was believed to be bahamut but was actually not. The dragon entrusted the “Excalibur” to him and he became a "man" at a non recordbreaking young age. His dragon, and clan became target of many whom didnt like the influence of the clan on their people and most died out. Abilities: Equipment: Fake Excalibur (sword of chaos that he has been told is Excalibur) Limit Breaks: Chaos Caliber
Designs: Shadow Buster (emits a shadow about 6' wide, turning everything it passes through into an intangible shadow. then a powerful beam of light cuts through the shadow. Light conquers shadow, and basically it creates a hole about a foot wide in something, depending on how long the light is on. When it is done firing the shadow turns off and all that was destroyed by the light and all that was shadow becomes tangible again.

Yes. I thought Poen was a manifestation of an eon-old warrior spirit of negativity?
EDIT: Cleared that up.
The continent of Videll, on the Associated World of Hael. A continent that has seen far too much stasis for far too long. The nobles of the verdant farmlands of Jaoyherg have enforced their strict sexual, cultural, economic and political rules for centuries, holding power through monopolizing control of the very magic of the area. Their machines built by their priestly classes and their suppression and assassination of the people's magicians and religious culture has left them dominant in areas of magic. Their enchanted blades and dark rituals let them dominate.
Yet change eventually sweeps even through Jaoyherg. When the worlds collided, the nobles thought that they would indeed benefit, owing to new trade opportunities. They were wrong. The Church of Bloody Debauchery has arrived.
These acolytes reason thusly: God is omnipresent. Ergo, She wants us to enjoy ourselves, as she feels all of our enjoyment. Ergo, the only path that She can support is hedonism. The acolytes bring with them, through some source, high technology. Apparently the nobles' system is more vulnerable to bribery than they thought.
Glenn and his companions are part of a new movement, the Henvel (or Levellers in English/Trade). And now they await with bated breath what their cell will vote to do next...

Glenn looked to Samuel and Nossirah, his two trusted friends and partners. His two fingers pointing upward, he brought them down and the two men slipped through the crowd and the other to scout out for powerful members. Samuel, a master at not being seen, walked up to where it seemed a hard crusted old man stood at a podium listening. He sat there and listened...
Nossirah felt around, and all of a sudden chills ran up and down his spine. He walked over to the three men sitting and drinking. "My name is Nossirah Esura...and I am from..." He started.
"We know where you're from!" Poen said angrily.
"Don't mind him, sir, he;s just a bit upset is all..." Norm said quiety, pointing to the liquor.
"Don't excuse me, Norm...I need not that kind of gratuity. I am Poen Grafficane, my friend here is Norm Striheart... I am sorry I lashed out at you, it's just that rebellions don't work with just words..."
"Which is why I came to see you here, Mr. Grafficane... I would wonder if you would join our group..."
"More like you?"
"Indeed."
"Better than sitting here....I'm in"
"A-and me, sir..."

The other members slowly dribble in as the group meets. Eventually, the delegate for this team arrives. "Sorry for arriving last - I was being tailed. Pull out chairs." The meeting is occuring in a grain silo, the chairs hidden under stacks of wheat and oats. Each chair comes with a brush to get rid of as much of the adhered grain at possible, but if that fails they're just more farmers with more oats in their beard. The group, in toto, counting Glenn et al, numbers thirty. It is an average sized cell. All are wearing thick clothes so that captured members will have limited information.
"Now. Three tasks have been reported to me by the meeting at Council 2-2.
First: Dern Ironwit, the pirate captain, is reportedly bunkered down at an abandoned island fort off the coast. If we could convince him to lend his admittedly small fleet to the cause, we might actually have naval support.
Second: The Bloody Debauchery Acolytes have weakened Fort Antiok enough that Ley Engine B might be vulnerable.
Third: The Acolytes seem to be preparing an illicit area to have supplies helicoptered in. What supplies, we have no idea. It might even be a ruse.
Any motions?"

Glenn stood up, looking at the delegate that had finished talking.
"Sir, I have a group that could carry all three burdens on our shoulders...if we are given more important jobs sometime in the future. What say you to that wager?" Sam said, standing.
"Excuse me... sir..." Norm said, tapping Sam's back "Those seem like quite taxing ventures for all to get done in the time...are you sure we are capable of such a burden?" he added
"I like the way this guy thinks...." Poen said smiling. Nossirah and Sam stayed obediently silent, looking on.
"It will not be difficult. Objective A Will be met by Samuel and Nossirah, whom both have good skills with persuasion. Objective B will be headed byMr. Grafficane and you, for it would seem to satisfy his thirst for conquest. The third shall be met by me, for I have a plan that will either work and help the cause or fail and hurt the opposition." Glenn explained.
"Ludacris....but I'll take it where I can get it." Poen smiled.
"When each of our objectives is met, we return and protect this area, as it will be prone to discovery." Nossirah suggested.
"Good....good." Glenn mused "Hopefully we won't end up dead..."

One person points out, "Hold on a second. Getting out to Dern will require a good shiphand." Another chimes in, a little irritated at the cockiness, "Yeah! You'll have to run their blockade and patrols! If you get found, you're dead!"
The leader then says, "These critiques apply even more to the run on Ley Engine B. The troops there are reduced, but with even ten people it will be difficult enough, let alone five. And if we can capture the supplies, we'll need men to port them to a safe place and guards for such an expedition. I think three at once is a little... naive."

" If things go my way, sir.....the pilot will fly supplies directly to you, and you can deal with the reinforcements they send when they arrive...." Glenn stated calmly.
"It would seem that they wish to go, Sam..." Nossirah said empathetically. Sam waved his hand dismissively.
"We try to keep our forces strong by keeping them alive! So be it, however. If the coordinator wishes to send more, then we will not be so headstrong as to try and supercede him. I would ask of you, however, to try and keep the groups small....if we go in numbers, it will be easier for them to take one of us and interrogate them, or worser still, find out about the growth of the rebellion. If we strike as small groups and fail, they will see us as weaker than we really are, and if we succeed, it will give more morale to those on the fringe of joining us." Sam said.
"Well said, Sir" He said to Samuel and turned to Glenn" But sir, how will you get a pilot to fly to us?" He asked.
"I can change his orders, flight patterns, his destination data just by reaching any networked linked program. The safest way would be to attach a network link to the helicopter before it takes off and force override the manual controls, however either way could work, albeit the boss has a safer or better idea..." Glenn answered inquisitively.

"It's not 'sir', comrade, and with twenty-five aside from you five, there is only so much we can do. Of course we cannot have too many numbers; these are all, by necessity, stealth missions. But we cannot have too few, either. Enough must be around to carry the equipment, be lookouts, prepare hideaways and defend the exits, etc. If we strike as too few and fail, we might discourage those who would join us by making them underestimate our numbers, not to mention failing and revealing to our foes what we know and possibly how we know it; and if we succeed with more members, it will show either side that we are not to be fooled with." (By the way: That's called 'going between the horns of the dilemma.' See, you made a logical dilemma, where either way your argument would succeed, and... Never mind, fallacies and rules of logic are fun to me. ) One of the men says, "And assuming you cannot alter the helicopter's trajectory, perhaps because of shielding, or that it does not have a self-destruct or manual override?" Another man says, "Then again, finishing all three operations in one night... what a success!" The 'leader' says, "Dern should in fact be done with a small group. So we could handle that mission as well as one of the others."

"Good enough for me then... The more the merrier..." Poen said smiling.
"That would be a problem if we didn't get a team to attach the device to the helicopter. If that were possible, I could shut down the manual controls. If there are any among the downtrodden whom have stooped to sneakiness or thievery, I would grciously accept help..."
Nossirah smiled "And seeing as how Samuel has naval experience, he would be able to talk terms with Sir Dern. However, those at good hands with shipwork could perhaps oversee the deliberations... mayhap we could even use the island as a black market port to raise capital to buy more ships, or mayhap build ships themselves... I'm sure that a secreted island offering rare goods would be beneficial to merchants under the hard tax of Jaoyherg enough not to reveal us to our enemies. If not, I'm sure we could persuade them..." Nossirah said innocently.
Sam smiled. "You old dog you..."
"Do we plan on looting the fortress after we breach it?" Poen asked calmly.

|
Post by Frederic Bourgault-Christie on Dec 19, 2005 16:44:46 GMT -5
"Attach the device to the helicopter?! That's impossible. We don't know where it's coming from. If we attack it when it has landed successfully, then of course we can take it, but then we shall need to hide it. The Resistance's spots for hiding such a thing are almost full-up: we'd need Ironwit!"
The leader shrugs. "The higher Council was ambivalent on the topic. It left discretion to the lower councils. If we can loot the fortress before we destroy the generator, then fine. If not... That does beg the question: How will we get in? The forces there are a skeleton force at best, yes, but we have no battering ram."
Another man stands. "It seems like the consensus is leaning towards attacking the fortress and sending a small team to negotiate with Ironwit. Shall we take a vote?"
|

Post by zeebedee on Dec 19, 2005 18:15:15 GMT -5
Poen smiled "What need you a battering ram? Why blow the walls down?" He asked mockingly. He ran his hand through the man next to him, the appendage becoming shadow and reanimating itself at his other side.
Nossirah frowned and looked to the 'leader' "Is this Ironwit going to be difficult to sway?"
Norm looked to the 'leader' "I have armaments that could blast through the wall, if we needed to.
Glenn sat back, obviously a bit miffled that his plan was upsot. "Clearly the resources and manpower needed were inadequately allocated. I vote for the LEy engines destruction." Glenn said. Sam and Nossirah instantly agreed, and Poen seemed content, seeing as how that was his original intention.

"If we had substantial enough explosives, we would. If you think you do, then we invite you to try. The fort does not have a mystic barrier, they are too poor at it for that, but as long as it is up the fort will slowly regenerate and will have walls almost like adamantite."
The 'leader' shrugs. "Dern is a mercurial type. If he doesn't kill you during the negotiation process he might just help."
"We cannot inadequately allocate what we don't have, Sir Glenn. However, I otherwise concur." The consensus is for a small team to break the blockade and find their way to Dern, with the rest to siege the Ley Engine. Now it comes time to determine who will do what: Perhaps searching for secret passages, creating a safehouse, sniping as best they can, etc.
After tonight, the team has a day to explore, buy supplies, perhaps try to contact some friends, etc.
(By the way, you could earn characters or Job Gems or something for your Christmas gift...)

" I have the explosives we need, sir, and tomorrow we will go out and buy extra just in case. I will leave the planting of the bombs to Sir Grafficane, while I use the Sniper Rifle in my possession, extra ammo of which I will buy as well as perhaps some silencing device tomorrow too. Sir Glenn will see if there is any way to plunder any goods by use of the doors or internal computers."
"If there is a way into the Ley Engine to shut it down, even for a little while, I will know about it by tomorrow. Shutting it down would give us valuable time to get anything we can from the installation before the whole thing blows. Naturally, I expect Mr. Striheart will not be lax in his duties and keep the reinforcements under control."
"Tomorrow, I will go to the slums and talk to a few contacts whom owe me favors. Seeing as how I deal only with those of high calibur, I will not be betrayed. They will spread the message to those too busy to delve into political affairs of our victory."
"And tomorrow, I shall walk down in the viscinity of the blockade, to scout and see if there is any alternative other than force to get through it. If not, I will see what resources I can utilize for the assault as well as any sympathetic or crazy enough to attack the blockade to help me. Albeit the Ironwill will be difficult to sway, however I trust you will do your end of the job."
Glenn stood "Well, I'm tired of sitting on this uncomfortable chair. Are we adjourned?"

"You have explosives that can take down adamantite." You don't think so.
One of the men, Franklin, says, a little tentatively, "I..I..I.. h-h-hear that the Engines can't be shut down without a noble's blood."
However, for the rest of the suggestions, the group seems to nod. "Will you want any assistance with any of the information gathering? You are, after all, relative outsiders; we can round up contacts as well."
After some more conversation, outside a loud crash is heard.

Glenn turned to Sam slightly, and Sam obediently rushed outside as Glenn conversed with the leader. "I think it will go smoothly. That is, of course, if this externality out here can be controlled. I'd like to talk to some of your men about some things they know..." He continued talking. Poen looked at Glenn wide eyed, then turned to Norm. "He's a looney, Norm. Let's get out there and kick whoevers foolish enough to bother me's ass!" He said jumping out. Norm looked a bit flustered, then walked up to the still talking Glenn and tugged his coat. "S-sir Glenn....there would seem to be a disturbance outside. If we don't control Mr. Grafficane, he might cause too much attention..." He tactfully stated. Glenn paused for a moment, contemplating, then nodded. "Excellent observation. Let us go." He said, leaving the silo.

Poen and Norm exited the silo, with Sam following.
"Gimme something to kill" Poen said passionately. Norm stood behind him, his posture straight. "Give them a good thrashing, Mr. Grafficane. I'll try to provide backup." Norm said.
Sam stood casually, his hand on the hilt of his blade. "Interesting..."
Glenn walked from villager to villager, asking about the adamantite and any explosives available and how might they be made.

Now is late at night, and given the rebellions against the nobles, there has been a strict curfew. The first order of business will be to sneak back to their dwelling, undoubtedly a cave made in the mountains containing the partially functional X-Wing of Wedge Antilles.

Poen, Sam and Norm follow the order of the great will of the microcosmos...and instead of the thrilling battle that would have ensued, snuck out into the night. They came across a lake, with many damp cavernous pits...some with what seemed too coincidence to be lucky foot and handholds...and found...a strange craft floating at the bottom of the lake. When they reached the bottom of the pit, darkness surrounded them. "Just the way I like it..." Poen said happily, snagging a white cave spider from Norm's back. "....I hate spiders..." Norm replied, cringing, his blonde hair showing in the dim light of Sam's torch. "The more you move, the less they think you an easy target..." Sam said jokingly, and stifled a laugh when Norm began to fidget intentionally.
EDIT Glenn and Nossirah were standing bemusedly behind them, and Nossirah used magic to emulate the scurrying of spider legs behind Norm
