With skill and precision Namikaze parries his opponents attack and creates an excellent chance for him to make a counter attack of his own!

Namikaze's opponent raises his blade to block and upon making contact with Namikaze's own blade there is a flash of sparks. Guard not being sufficient Namikaze's blade ends up sliding off the guarding sword and slashing across one of his opponents arms. The sheath attack that immediately follows does some significant damage itself!
Not one to be slowed down your opponent retakes stance and lunges forward. As he charges his blade creates phantom images from the left, right, and from above forcing Namikaze to guess at how to defend against this new assault.

Namikaze uses his multi-sword strike while applying Ki in every strike in the same directions that his opponent is striking from in order to counter.

Namikaze redoubles his efforts hoping to slash down every image so as to not have to pick out the real danger. This works surprisingly well as his opponent leaves this exchange severely wounded, falling to one knee in submission!
Shortly thereafter the leader calls for another change of opponents, then another, and then another until finally all lay slashed and worn. He then allows everyone several hours rest and then repeats the process. Each time Namikaze finding the practice is forcing him to dig deeper and deeper into his reserves of energy and push himself farther than ever before!
{All sword moves below A now become A! Choose two sword techniques to promote to S!}
{Namikaze gained the trait Drawing of Spirit - May take up to 50% fatigue and add up to +50 to an action/reaction!}
The retreat ends with everyone having become much stronger, Namikaze most of all. This new source of power now his own who knows what new adventures lie ahead for Namikaze!

could I do training with my master so I could get closer to getting my full succession technique?

Hmmm...well the techniques are supposed to level up naturally throughout the year so I hadn't intended for anyone to train them actively.
SO I'm gonna try and think of something else interesting to have you do and if I don't think of anything I'm just gonna let you go ahead and train your first succession technique anyway. This is just a placeholder for later.

Sometimes the best way to one self is through ones own reflection revealed by another. Nothing like philosophical jazz to get the training ball rolling.
Episode 47 - The Slack Sword
Namikaze is up to his usual routine on a clear and distant Saturday afternoon when he receives a text message on his cellphone. It is from the first year he has been partnered with as part of Onagi's mentor program.
'Hey. What are you up to?' it says.

It takes only a few moments for Akihiro to respond with directions to a fairly popular park not too far away. The directions mentioning that he will be waiting on the large linoleum platform next to the fountains where the elderly practice tai chi on Sundays.
When you arrive he is already there waiting for you in a loose-fitting pair of jeans and tie-dye shirt. A wooden sword in his hand resting at his side. As you approach him you notice that despite his usual relaxed demeanor he seems different somehow.
"Hey" he nods in your direction.

"Yeah. I'd wanted to spar with you for some time. Practiced like crazy for a little while just to make sure it didn't kill me" he chuckles while putting his wooden sword in front of him.
"You ready?"

With a slight nod of understanding the first year runs forward and initiates with a simple thrust of his weapon. It is a simple attack launched from a position in which he will be able to easily defend himself.
His first move is a cautious one.

He pulls back after Namikaze sidesteps the thrust and pulls his weapon into him to block the strike. He manages but just barely, skidding backwards slightly from the impact.

"Nice reflexes, but you'll need to be faster than that!" Namikaze shouts as he lunges forward with his leaping sword strike.

Akihiro brings his bokken up to defend against the attack. He tilts its end away from him in an effort to shunt Namikaze's leaping sword strike to the side and is only partially successful as the attack grazes one of his arms.
In response he begins to turn into a swing at Namikaze's left side, chest level, in an attempt to gain some ground.

Namikaze attempts to counter with his parry technique.

While there is plenty of strength and precision in Akihiro's counterattack Namikaze parries the attack. As his bokken drifts away from you it comes to a complete halt and zips back into an on-guard position before Namikaze can so much as blink.
Akihiro seems almost unaware of himself as he does it. Some kind of passive technique perhaps? Only time and subsequent tests of this ability will tell. Tests that begin now as you make your next move.

"Interesting speed you have there Akihiro, let's put it to the test!" Namikaze shouts as he goes toward Akihiro with his Katana-Rama(multi-sword strike) technique.

Namikaze deploys a flurry of sword strokes with the intent of putting Akihiro to the test (as he has verbally proclaimed). As he moves in Akihiro seems to physically relax himself, almost as if relieving control of his body to a different kind of instinct.
The sword strikes hit with the same immeasurable (to most) speed, strength and skill. However Namikaze finds that his strikes are being forced off target, Akihiro maneuvering the blows with calm but sharp movements of his own weapon.
While the blows still hold true as does their damage judging by Akihiro's beat-up appearance he seems a lot better for it than many opponents that have faced the same attack.
"Good" Akihiro smiles. "Though there's always room for improvement" he finishes as he moves in to attempt a slash at Namikaze's chest.

You block Akihiro's slash and follow up with a swipe of your sheath.
Akihiro decides that such close quarters would benefit from a different kind of reaction than last time. With his bokken somewhat tied up at the moment he just barely manages to duck under the attack and jumps back a couple of feet to get some distance between the two of you.

Akihiro brings his lead foot around in a circular motion to his back, intending to step out of the way of the attack. At the same time he swings upward with his bokken to strike against you.
Unfortunately for him Namikaze's strike comes down with more force than he anticipated. While the wooden sword makes contact with Namikaze's right shoulder Akihiro is hit with a more decisive blow that knocks him down as well!
"Wow..you're really something. Not like I didn't know that already" Akihiro laughs.
