They call me [Bleep] because i haven't a name yet. i try to practice my Iai-Jutsu as much as i can, but my penchant for sweeping up dust is sometimes detrimental. my parents were mechanics, and my Pop showed me everything i know about working with cool gadgets. That said, as weapons are forbidden at school, i have combined my love of the sword with my love of sweeping! I invented a Broomsword! This piece of genius lets me store a strong wooden sword in my broom, meaning i can be ready for any emergency, dust or thug. though i'd rather be at home, watching "Super happy fun time hardboiled! -My body is poison". best anime out there.

Names are like labels. They serve as quick reference to what something or someone is and should be. Like labels themselves the absence of a label may evoke a powerful meaning of its own. This is the story of one such young man who is without name and thus without label...
[Episode two - A fine mess of straw]
A Shy Iai Guy finds himself walking out the hospital doors recently recovered from a nasty encounter with a man known as "The White Demon". No sooner does he cross the threshold does he find himself facing another sword-carrying man.
He is short and with black hair and a young face, at first glance anyone would mistake him for a grade school student. The Onagi High uniform disrupts that impression almost as much as his narrow brown eyes and the sword he holds in his hand. Its handle is wrapped with a crude weaving dulled with use. The young man holds it by the sheath for now.
"Mind if we have a chat?" he asks motioning towards a nearby alleyway.

Eh~ Do we really have to? I'm gonna miss "My body is poison"...
"Sure, but let's make this quick. My show's going to start soon." I leave no trace of my Iai stance, and stand right beside him.

"It won't take long" the guy smiles
You follow him into the alleyway and take your place right beside him.
"Did you know that the man you faced, the one who calls himself the White Demon has two brothers? Both stronger than the last" he says taking several slow steps ahead of you.
"When a student has an encounter with another that may put one or both of them in significant danger the student council makes an assessment as to weather or not the student in question needs extra protection..."
This time he trails off allowing you space to reply.

"Hmph. you think I need protection" -suddenly draws sword, resting the edge of the wooden blade an inch from the guy's jugular- " sounds like you want a.. Dust up, man."

The guy doesn't move an inch as our shy iai guy puts the heavy wooden period on his sentance.
"A dust up? I certainly hope your sense of humor isn't comparable to your martial skill" comes his snide remark.
You feel the guy's sheath rake across your stomach but you don't see him actually circle around to face you. His sword is halfway out of its sheath before you can even grasp what's going on!
But our shy iai guy posesses some speed of his own and takes advantage of the moment it takes his opponent to draw his word with a counter attack of his own...

Doing a downwards sweeping slash, the wooden sword moves from his jugular to his wrist, using his hand's momentum as extra impact. "Skill? Speed is more like it. This will be settled in an instant!" Shy Iai Guy grins, as a hungry man would grin at a tasty meal.

With more speed than power your wooden blade lands with a dull "thunk!" on his wrist, his wrist having extended into it as you anticipated. The blow is a nasty one but slows your enemy down surprisingly little.
He steps back with his left turning himself sideways. In two swift beats he brings his sword to his side and finishes drawing. This time aiming for an upward vertical slash not very unlike how you've been taught to do it. The blade is a little less than an inch away from connecting with your right hip when you have a chance to react...

Tokage-Kempo.... Quick Draw! holding the wooden sheath near the bottom, i draw my sword in a lightning-quick manner, aiming again for his hands and wrist before his strike can ring true, hopefully disarming his sword before he can finish the swing.

Where his enemy would go diagonally our shy Iai guy seeks to go straight up and across the hand that draws the sword. Forsaking defense for attack you slash straight upward.
Were you both the same speed you might have to worry about the two weapons intersecting in some kind of clash. However you are not the same speed, not by a long shot. In a sense this was a good move on our Shy Iai Guy's part as his wooden sword strikes where his enemy's had WILL be and is. Another dull "thunk!" across his wrist. The move is only poor considering he takes a diagonal slash across his front which serves as a precursor to two things.
One, a sign of progress. After that exchange your enemy darts backwards several feet and switches his sword to his left hand, sheath to his right. A look of cool determination on his face.
Two, a sign of hope. Though you felt his blade rake painfully across your midsection there is no bleeding nor a sign of a cut. Perhaps you aren't the only one with a dull blade...

Oh? -sheathes sword- "That stung quite a bit, stranger. Don't worry, though. I'll pay it back... in spades!" As i step forward, i draw my sword in a neck shot, while following the move with my sheath. this way, i can get a second attack in. -The silent Dragon's Tail whips in the moonlit night.- STRIKE!

"I wouldn't be so sure about that" your enemy says while relaxing his posture.
The moment before you come in range to start your attack the enemy responds with a straight thrust into your chest. Stopping you cold. It happens in half an instant the pain that ripples through your body precedes your understanding of what happened.
[Your enemy relied on you needing to close the distance and making some kind of slash attack. Using the length of his sword to his advantage he attacked with a lightning fast straight thrust to prevent you from moving forward enough to swing at him effectively. In addition to keeping you out of range he relied on your own momentum doing most of the damage.]
It takes a couple seconds to get your breath back. In that time he sheathes his sword.
"I thought I'd make my own assessment of how in need of protection you were. Needless to say I think you could benefit from an escort or two" he says with an arrogant half smile.

Damn him, thinking he can just decide my fate! i HATE people like that! "I don't need you or your help! you made a mistake using a dull blade!" Thoroughly pissed, i walk away, turning into an anger filled run as i speed home. the episode of "My body is poison" is wasted on my attitude. eating a meal (Miso soup and rice), i wait until it is dark. then, i head out to practice.

Megami's terrible treatment of her sickly protector slips past an aggravated Iai guy all too quickly.
As soon as darkness comes he finds himself back at it again, practicing to quell his foes arrogant talk. However as he practices he finds himself thinking not just of his opponents jeers but of his personal sword work. Reflecting upon them and his own movements our shy Iai guy finds that a little something connects, a little something that may give him a better edge, or rather his opponents less of one.

"Ha! Hahaha! So that's what i was lacking! Well, i feel a bit better now." I re-watch the episode after coming back in, and, for the first time in a week, I relax. Renewing my spirit for tomorrow, I crash. Hard.

With a shard of the confidence he lost regained our shy Iai guy finds a nice sleep after re-finding the ability to appreciate Megami's brash acts of violence against her ever kind protector whose body is poison. He then crashes so hard he sleeps a sleep that will not be broken until almost noon the next day. Luckily the next day is a Saturday so no school is missed.
However there is a message on our Shy Iai Guy's answering machine from the school. Upon pressing the "play" button a girls voice comes on. She speaks slowly at first, as if nervous but gets going strong after a while.
"Hello, my name is Yumi Kisaragi. I..uh..I'm going to be walking you to school. I mean I'm going to be your student council escort, er-guard. Personal bodyguard..that sounds weird. Please meet me outside your house at seven AM Monday morning so we can get acquainted."

"Ah~ it looks like they're not going to give me my privacy afterall. Oh well, what's done is done. best play it cool, then I'll show that jerk who's boss!" With that said, I down my lunch in one go, Nattou and all! "Hmm, what to do today... oh yeah, i guess i could go... Beyblade or something... well, i'll go wander town for a while, at any rate." with that said, i go and try to enjy the afternoon, sweeping the sidewalk as i go along. (totally oblivious that a girl was offering to walk me to school)

And with that our Shy Iai Guy goes off to sweep up the fun that can be had for a guy such as him on a weekend. Unaware of the storm brewing ahead of him and perhaps those who might help right in front of him...

With the rhythm of a normal morning our Shy Iai guy prepares himself for another day at school. Belongings all finding their way into his hands and then to his pack he opens the door only to be greeted with a bright yellow sun, a fresh breeze with just a hint of fall in its depths...and a voice.
"Good morning! My name is Yumi Kisaragi! I called and left a message a couple days ago" a girl calls out from just a little over ten feet away. She is of a little less than medium height with short brown hair (bangs dyed a light violet) and rather average figure. From the looks of her she appears to be the same age as our hero.

I smile back. "Of course." while we start walking to school, i think: Huh, this isn't so bad. perhaps i might enjoy the company. "So, have you ever watched My body is poison?" i say, trying to strike up conversation while walking, though keeping alert for anything of interest in the environment.

This Shy Iai guy only notices other students walking to school on the same road as him and his compatriot. However his senses are no doubt pulled fully into the conversation upon hearing his escort also watches his favorite show!
"Uh..yeah. I started watching it because of my brother actually" she replies.

"Oh, cool. I thought nobody watched it. I've been saving for the box set..." i reply. A girl who likes my body is poison? I must be dreaming. That's right. I'm still asleep."Ah, anyways, do you know that guy with the sword? he seems kind of pretentious... I only guess that you may know him, because he's in the student council." I ask this not doggedly, but in more of a light, wondering tone.

It hasn't been too long since either of you set out. Yumi actually atakes it upon herself to continue the conversation.
"I agree. Sometimes I wonder why he's even on the student council. It seems like he just wants a reason to draw a weapon on people. Maybe he'll graduate this year.." she says, sighing at the last part.
