There are innumerable guilds, secret or not-so-secret societies, and similar for Crashing Heavens to join. Most require some kind of test, quest, or donation. Any interest?

Evan would want to join a few, maybe one of Chaos Templar, and maybe on of monk types, or one whom wish the same things he does, peace, nature and happiness.
Jessica, maybe a DF cult, or a blood magus cult...
Jack, maybe a thieves guild? A way he can make massive amounts of money, and or learn a few new tricks, and gain more fame.
Wyatt, maybe an avatar Cult...or a coven?

Do some research, mayhaps? Hit the books, ask some questions, call some contacts?

Jessica would first goto the King of Blood and ask "Im looking for a guild of blood and biomancey magus...You know anything about them?" She will also ask a bunch of the DF cultist what options she has for joining societies revolving around blood magic and biomancy.
Wyatt will ask his phebie about demon cults and where cole got started, and about what covens she sponsors if any. Then he'll move to Paige and ask her what coven, and white lighter cult and covens she sponsors if any, or where he could find one. He will then call in some favors with his shadier friends and ask if there are any darklighter cults that he might be able to get into.
Jack will goto red mage and ask him what his opinion about Jack joining a guild. questions such as, hey which would best suit me and my personality? which would I gain the most from? He'll also goto any of his thiefy friend and ask them the same questions. He'll also pay a few ppl off for info on where to go, passwords, etc, so he's entry will be easier.
Evan will of course goto his father and mother, first asking his father what mages guild would best suit his needs. Then he'd goto his mother and ask her which people, culture, and or guild, or society might best suit what hes looking for in the ways of peace harmony and happiness. If both don't have answers he likes, he'll goto fred, and ask him his opinions on the subject.

The KoB has been fairly much disconnected from the rest of the universe for the last several thousand years. Not the best for contacts. Rayzen says, "I don't know why you're still messing around with that crap, but there are Blood Druids in Rifts France. Most were eliminated, but you might be able to explore England and France there and check the place out."
Wyatt knows well that Cole got started as a man-at-arms working for such forces as the Triad, but most of them are gone. All of the covens that his aunts are involved with Wyatt has open membership to, obviously. That includes a seer coven, a whitelighter "union" in essence, etc.
RM says, "Ah, min/maxing are we? Good, you are learning, grasshopper. Let me consult the stars... I mean, my player manuals." He flips through some player manuals, and some manuals that have the word "player" taped on over what's obviously GM manuals. "Ah, here we go. Well, my entries are pretty limited - I guess the great Game Master in the sky rolled a 36." (Remember: Any guild the OG knows about is going to be fairly old hat. The really exciting stuff is the new stuff.) Thief gives you a pretty broad variety of thieves guilds: Dragon Thieves, spies, Temple Raiders, etc.
Xeno says, "What would you need with guilds? The skills of the Veneficium Secutor serve you well, and no 'donations' are required." Eyola says, "Actually be helpful." Xeno nods, puts down his newspaper, and says, "We've had wind of various secret Magi groups, as the Magi gene is starting to profligate thanks to our acceleration of the development of the Affinities. We also have heard other rumors. But why aren't you hitting the streets?" Fred says, "Xeno's fairly much right on the topic. We deliberately deprive ourselves of some information and there are ways to hide from us in the infinite possible dimensions. Do some groundpounding and investigation."

Wyatt I suppose will the crashing heavens portals to goto (the closest thing to hell as possible) and begin exploring, until he finds something totally unformalur, and then he'll check it out. He's going to go and look for populated areas.
Jessica will goto France I suppose, and hit the streets, goto raves, and vampire clubs, ask some bar tenders, ask some ppl whom look like they maybe involved in that sort of business.
Jack will smile at RM "I knew I shoulda bought that man some new...shadier dice... oh well. Thanks RM, stay classy. " He'll then goto Newyork, time square, and being the bastard he is, he'll stop traffic and demand attention and say "Im starting and or looking for a club of total badassness, I demand you all speak up right now with all the info you know about anything that might help me!"
Evan will accompany Jessica and enjoy the nightlife parties while he can. In hopes that if she find success, who ever she joins might be able to help him.

Hell is always an option. There are also the Demon Realms and various demonic places. A good place to begin would be Yomi or Technodem's cities.
Rifts France has no raves or vampire clubs. It has some pubs, but the Blood Druids are not likely to congregate there, or in any open place.
Jack mostly gets people yelling at him. "Hey, buddy, you crazy!" "MOVE OUT OF THE WAY!" "Fuck ya mother, ya goddamn fuck!" A few people come out of cars and ask for autographs.

I suppose Yomi it is for wyatt.
Evan and Jessica will goto some of the pubs, look for mages, and earthy folk and ask them questions, in unhappy manners, questions like, where new meeting places might be for those of darker arts. I apologies for this (Harry Potterism) and Knockturn Alley type places.
Jack will smirk and give autographs,a nd make a great big mess of traffic, benchpress cars, and piss a ton of ppl off, and make others go oooohhh Awwww. Then he'll go into a ladies laundry store, and start hittin on the female sales clerks. Work in some basic questions, about what time they get off work, where he might find a yukuza club, where they get there nails done.

Yomi's city stretches out over the horizon in front of Wyatt. The lights, green, red and yellow, fill the sky with gaudiness. Black spires pour white smoke: demons don't need environmental standards. Wyatt is a little unfamiliar with Yomi's city (after all, he's a demon hunter by raising and profession). He takes a blind alley (how did he do that? godlike perceptions, perceiving the future, all that). As he turns around, the alley is suddenly blocked by a group of silent men of many races and a few demons. (The demons have all the signs that Wyatt is familiar with of being friendly with mortals). The head one throws a blade whip very quickly at Wyatt.
Jess and Evan come to Old Paris. It is a monster city, but Evan and Jess' line (Blood Magi and fae, respectively) prevent a fight. The city is filled with boarding houses and restaraunts (with features such as an artificial blood pillar), high-tech repaior shops, modified body chop-shops (there are no safe hospitals, but the cyber-snatcher trade has been strongly repressed by local Rangers, druids, knights, Cyber-Knights, Sheriffs, Justice Rangers), several arenas, gambling halls, and drug dens. There are many guilds around, but most are relatively pedantic. Where will you go?
Are you going to benchpress any cars that you don't have the consent to?

|
Post by Ainsophaur on Jan 4, 2006 23:31:46 GMT -5
Wyatt will attempt to grab the whip in mid-air without being hurt, and reply "Good day to you gentlemen. Might I ask you some directions?"
Evan adn Jessica will first goto the most quiet drug den we can find. Try to score some of that good Yuro-e-siprt. Ask around for some blood druids or maybe find some leads. If that fails Evan will toke up, and let Jessica lead him around until she finds what shes looking for. If no leads in Jessica's case, she'll goto one of the guildes and ask some questions there.
Jack will of course ask one of the people asking for an autograph if they will let him benchpress the car or not. If not he'll simply shrug drop all the autograph material and find the nearest laundray shop and start flirting and asking bad questions.

Wyatt doesn't catch it, and it hits his barrier very, very hard. It's moving at 50% FTL and striking with mountain-crumbling strength. The others come in. They don't have the physical ability to do this - they're being pushed by something.
This is a drug den for quiet enjoyment. The goblins, orcs, pucks, spriggans, toadstools, necromancer, Cernun, Gigantes, Jotan, and other beasts enjoying themselves are sequestered in pillow-filled rooms with large hookas.
Jack does benchpress a few cars. Heading to a laundromat, Jack sees a young college student, three middle-aged woman, a grandmother, a Chinese lady and a Hawaiian man behind the counter. The woman all obviously scope him out. After some friendly talk, he drops the bomb. The man behind the counter smiles broadly. "This isn't the old days. Not every shop is run by the Yakuza or the Triads."

Wyatt will pull out excalbour and start cleaving.
Evan will wonder over to the den dealer, pick up what hes looking for, and maybe hae Jess come with him to sit near a puck, blaze up, and maybe strike up some easy going convo.
Jack "Oh, I didn't mean to offend, if indeed i did. You see, Im looking for leads into underground societies, its a crashing heavens homework assignment. I figured I'd hit random location until I found someone whom might point me in a less random direction....Could you lend a finger for pointing?"

OOG: That's a bit of a jump, isn't it? "Hi, can I have some directions?" to "SLICE YO BITCHEA!"
How will they strike up the conversation? It's not supposed to be easy-going.
He says (speaking more with a New York accent than a Hawaiian one), "Look, mister, there isn't any Yakuza around here, and I'm not really an expert on the topic, but I'm willing to bet twenty dahlars that dropping that name wouldn't get you very far, know what I mean? Talk to the cops, I'm not Jack McCoy or some shit."

Well I figured there attacking him, so wtf why more talk until there all fucked up. and ones left alive to spill his guts. But for now I suppose he'll hold his ground.
Wyatt "Hey, now, I just want some info...no trouble gentlemen."
Evan "Pardon me sir, do you have a moment?" Evan will pull out some money(alot of money). "A friend of mine is looking for some people." Evan will pull out MORE money "I was curious if you'd be willing to lend a helping hand." Evan will pull out a bit more money. "What say you?" Jess will walk over and hand Evan some more money hidden from view of the Puck.
Jack will leave and goto the police station. Find an officer, and say "Officer I need some help, I have an assignment to find a gang whom may have some valueible info for Crashing Heavens..."

OOG: I mean that even if you begin to attack rather than just defend yourself and dodge, your attack could be a staff or punches or something rather than cleaving with a sword.
Wyatt's barrier comes to the forefront and alters itself for the purpose of weapons combat. Another man charges with brass knuckles, while a third rushes straight on with a sub-machinegun.
So you're talking to a den dealer or the customers?
The guy working at the precinct says, "Oh, yeah, at recognize you from the Dark Touhnament! Damn straight, son. That little lady got delusions of grandyeur or what not. But I'm sorry, we can't release private information like that." Striding up to Jack is a tall man in a suit with a heavy-set face, a little haggard and a somewhat quirky expression, and these eyes that seem both lazy and constantly searching. "That's not true, is it, Jack?"

What do you mean? Come on, man. Gambit was a member of the Louisiana branch of the Thieves' Guild, and I want Shae to follow in Daddy's footsteps.

I mean, how does one go about becoming a member of the Thieves' Guild, and what do you imagine would have changed in the few years since then?

Fair enough, When the guy comes in range Wyatt will give him a solid backhand to the face as he comes in with his punch, unless hes leading with his punch, and if he does so, use his weight to throw him.
Evan will speak with the dealer, maybe flash some cash.
Jack looks at the man "Pardon me?"

He is leading with the punch. Unfortunately, Wyatt is caught off guard and his barrier is hit. The man's hand is deflected. Sub-machinegun bullets rain down. Above, Wyatt sees a tall and lanky demon smiling down at him. Ornithopter-like wings grace him against the demonic night sky, and the power radiating from it is simply colossal.
The dealer says, "Bah! If such sums from humans interested me, I would not run this business."
"Detective Robert Goren, hi, I was just noticing that you're not actually here to investigate a gang that has anything to do with a Crashing Heavens mission."

Wyatt will Blink behind the demon punching him and shove him into the path of the bullets.
Evan smirks "Hey man, I was only asking...while were chatting...got any Ibogo?....and would you happen to know an information man?" Evan hands the dealer 1k cash.
Jack raises and eyebrow "Human lie detector eh? Well, I need to find the gang, weather it be CH backed or not."

Human. The bullets riddle the man, but he seems to shake and shimmy and not fall down.
Remember, currency difficulties: handing him UEG credits is not going to be that useful. "As I said, hu-man [he saws with no small degree of scorn], I am not interested in your money. I do know much information, but your.... cash is useless to me."
"Well, it's just that, when you said that, your cadence shifted a little, as if you wanted to blow through the sentence quicker because you were.... afraid of being caught in a lie? Leave police business to police business, I'd say." (http://www.podengo.com/apocrypha/characters/images/donofrio.jpg).

Wyatt will launch a holy bolt at the demon firing the gun.
Evan grins "Obviously its useless to you, why would I want to give you something of true value...but i suppose if that what you want I will give it, perhaps a favor, in return for the info?"
Jack "Uh huh..."

Most of these guys are human. The one shooting the sub included.

"So, is there anything else we can.. help you with, Mr. Twinblades?"

The Order of Saint Giles would be a good one to join. Most of the members are humans who haven't quite given into their vampiric lust just yet, enhancing their physical abilities by leaps and bounds. They have priests who wish to cleanse them of the impurities and have many good biologists and doctors. They hunt large vampire organizations.
I believe Mace would love to join, and maybe get some insight on how their warriors fight. They are a more modern group, using machine guns and bombs. But they do carry holy symbols and have tattoos that inform them as to how far their blood lust is in them, and help contain it and fight against the curse.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Dresden_FilesThat's a more general link to the series, but they only have a paragraph on the Fellowship. The Fellowship of St. Giles A relatively new player on the supernatural scene, the Fellowship of St. Giles (named for the patron saint of lepers) is made up of people who have been infected by Red Court vampires, but have yet to drink the lifeblood of another human to complete their transformation. The Fellowship helps its members control their urges, support each other, and fight the vampires who infected them. They are allied with the White Council in the war against the Red Court, but have little communication with them.

I think that the Order would probably have to say no given that you're not vampiric infected, but they could have you as an honorary member or what not and feed you data. They're basically a vampire support group.
Why would Masons want Taklinn?
