Vince actually succeeds, largely because Whistler threw it too far and hyperextended his arm. But when he pulls in, Whistler gives substantial resistance, controlling his reeling in. Hack passes out from the energy expenditure.

Hack awakes in Whistler's lab. "Not as well as expected, but okay, I guess. Got any ideas as to why I made you the guinea pig for the anti-vampire attacks now?"

Whistler smiles. "That's a riddle that despite all the pain in your life you haven't figured out. Strange."

Whistler shrugs. "Keep thinkin' about it."
Move to the next trainer, or keep goin' with Whistler? And you can get cogent Awards from finishing that fight (i.e. save for a new weapon or a new skill or something).

I don't really know Tempus' personality - any resources or ways to learn?

forgotten realms faiths and pantheons, tempus is the chaotic neutral god of battle and finds mindless horde tactics distateful, his class levels were fighter 20 barbarian 10 cleric 10, he is rather fickle and the outcome all large scale battles are determined by him, he is rather fickle favoring one side one day and the other the next, he also despises any form of inderect combat unless at a disatvantage, and all must be armed in battle, friend or foe. his fovored weapon is the battle axe, and hack was granted warhawk and marauder (his twin axes) by him.

The lobby is filled with swarms of people, some going to the various work or business locations in the Building, others seeking to go to the top to see the massiveness that is New York. The security seems fairly draconian yet very subtle, and indeed you would miss it were you not looking for it. There are a few male receptionists behind a desk and a very nice large lobby, the elevators in the back.
